  1. When you look back to when Kettlewell took over, we had a back three of McGinn, Butcher & Casey and in that period we didn't really ship a lot of goals and kept clean sheets. The injury to Butcher kyboshed that and when he came back, he wasn't the same player. Last season the defence was generally shambolic and prone to regular change. Having someone strong and dominant in the middle again (i.e. not Bevis) will hopefully tighten things up a bit and stop us losing the silly goals like we did last season. Imagine where we could have been last season if all these comeback draws had been wins cause we hadn't shipped silly weak goals. I'm hoping the addition of Liam Gordon will take us back to where we were the season before last, denfensively speaking.
  2. 100% agree but I kinda get the feeling, that given his background, he'll be kinda Beireth-like in his financial expectations, given that he was at LC for years, got a debut with them (albeit not in the EPL) but he was with them through their glory/money years, he'll really be in a financial bracket that we can't even consider. Having said that, maybe a wee sustained period of regular first team football and the press and exposure that goes with it might suit him at this point in his career. You can be 100% sure he'll be linked with big money move to Celtic or Rangers the week before we play them.
  3. Probably yes, because we were 'pretty poor from open play' apparently. At least he posted his grudging admission that we won, where as the other three posters of the apocalypse are clearly marked absent, as they always are when we win.
  4. I'm sure celtic will be 'on the brink of signing ex Rodgers starlet' the week before we play them.
  5. See the daily rectum have managed to turn Maswanhise into a story about Celtic........
  6. So, the 'new guy' who's name I canny remember, spell or pronounce, has a kinda 'Biereth' feeling about him to me. Product of a (normally) EPL club who hasn't played for them. Has obvious skills (like ball control, pace and the ability to do things with it) that we don't normally see. Will come here and prob be a big talking point for a few months and then go somewhere with loads more money than us, but if he sets up goals regularly for a few months, that'll do for me !
  7. Phil was training with us after finding himself without a club. We had much longer to look at him before signing him.
  8. Not seeing it as being as dire as others seem to think. Watt, the new guy and taking off Halliday composed us. We delivered an awful lot of ball into therir box that no one was getting on the end of. It's a cup game. Being in the draw for the next round is all that counts.
  9. Great cross from the new boy.....he's just waltzed past the right back a few times
  10. The number of balls that we've put in that have bounced in the 6 yard box with no one going for them is unreal !
  11. Much more positive momentum the last 15 or so but still not creating anything clear-cut.
  12. Surely we have someone, somewhere in the squad who can take a fuckig corner !
  13. Nah, lost two nil and Watt got injured. Looks like he'll be out a while. (He signed a 3 year deal just before kick off)
  14. I've got no idea why, but I came rushing home to watch this tonight.......
  15. In a couple of weeks, when he finds himself 'out injured for a lengthy period'....we can just send him back 🙂 On a more serious note, if Kettlewell can get Watt firing on most of his cylinders again, then he'll be good signing. he's got the skills. If he turns up as Mr Big Baws and doesn't try a leg, then it'll be a waste of time and money. At least, at the end of the day, his loan can be terminated and sent back. Nothing ventured.....
  16. Ah fuck......should be one up !! Edit - Wrong thread, the excitement got to me.
  17. If you offer a decent signing on fee.....you might be in with a shout !
  18. That was my impression too, but according to Steelboy, it's an absolute fact that Watt threatened to down tools if we didn't let him go. He must have a source inside the club that we're not privvy to.
  19. Not often I say this but got to agree with MJC on this one. I actually thought Watt's departure was more down to differences between him and Alexander but I've maybe got that wrong. He can clearly play a bit and despite the prima donna attitude worked hard for us under Robinson and Alexander too mostly. The right manager could probably get him playing again. He's a player that can hold up a ball and bring people in, which we currently don't have. Probably better than anything we have right now. Edit - Not that I think there's a chance in hell of it happening, but it certainly wouldn't upset me.
  20. Saw a report on line that 'key member of the defence' Stuperevic is out for the season. Given the content of the report, it may be bollocks.....apparently he was a key member of our defence in pre season....
  21. On the bright side, we're level in the league with The h**s and Hearts...........
