  1. Aye, I'll miss you guys when this finally gets played and I can go back to posting on highland league forums instead.
  2. We're going up in the world, we've got a stadium now!
  3. Havent checked what the temperature is outside but it looks pretty mild to me. I suppose the question is whether the ground itself has thawed out, but the most recent pics I saw had the pitch fully covered. Its all irrelevant now anyway. Thing is, it seems to me that the ground is deemed to be guilty until proven innocent. They have 3 checks before any game and if there's any doubt at any of the inspections they call the thing off. Better safe than sorry and all that. And with a 9am inspection, what chance does it ever stand? Fingers crossed that we dont get to the 7th time lucky that the Lochee-Ayr match had, but we'll see.
  4. I read the beeb's article that way as well at first but looking at it again I think it just means he cant get the day off to "prepare". I'm hoping so, because without Tommy this could be seriously embarrassing.
  5. +4.5 degrees this morning. Get yourselves up here for 7.45pm Oops, wrong day.
  6. Gutted to wake up to frost yet again. -1 in Inverurie, -4 just 5 miles away in Kemnay. If the inspection's at 9am we'd better brace ourselves for another P-P.
  7. Pitch inspection in the next hour hard frost yesterday but +4 now with heavy rain for the past 12 hours, now easing. Either the rain has thawed out the ground or the pitch is flooded on top of frozen ground.....
  8. FWIW the ground was solid last night and so the ref was right and AJ was wrong. Brisbane, the best view is from where the vid was taken, but as that is by the home turnstiles I dont reckon you'd be in luck there. You could have a wander around the other side of the ground where you could probably see over the wall, but I aint recommending it.
  9. Presumably you mean an early call-off, not kick-off? In which case, hand on heart, no, I'd be perfectly happy with a 2pm inspection as I can get down in 2 1/2 hours so that's fine. The players would obviously have had to have taken the day off work, and any that couldnt do so wouldnt be able to play.
  10. yeah, probably, but once again I see a pitch thats totally playable, for the second wednesday in a row. It's 6 degrees just now in Inverurie, got up to 4.5 yesterday after that vid was taken, and didnt go below freezing last night. This game should be on.
  11. I've only seen stuff from 24 hours ago. You think it's still like that now? It was +1 to +3 degrees at 8am in Inverurie today. Yes, the pitch may not be ready for football. Or it may be, I dont know. IMO the pitch inspection should have taken place at 2pm today and if that upsets away fans then sorry but thats what happens when you let mickey mouse clubs into the cup.
  12. Sorry, spitting blood up here at the moment. First we couldnt rearrange the game for the first Wednesday as Motherwell FC wanted more time to redistribute your ticket allocation (allegedly), then Motherwell FC ask the SFA (again, allegedly) to send a local ref to inspect the pitch 31 hours ahead of the game. And now its a great day for football if a little chilly. All for a game that you could win 4-0 if you sent your U15 team up. To be honest, I'd be happy if Locos just scratched now, but we'd be banned. Fingers crossed the game goes ahead on Monday and we can get this waste of a game over.
  13. As I understand it, Motherwell asked the SFA to organise a pitch inspection yesterday, which happened some 31 hours ahead of kick off immediately after the only night of frost we've had. Today we're at between +1 and +3 in Inverurie at 8am but we couldnt possibly wait until the day of the match because the mighty MFC are involved. Aberdeen asked for their covers to be lifted on Saturday because of the gales over the weekend, and now need them themselves.
  14. Sorry 'bout this guys, feel kind of responsible for some reason. Waited 106 years to play an SPL team and we could play two in a week now. Still want to know which muppet decided we couldnt play this last Wednesday.
  15. Difference between this time and last time though is that so far this is just a one-off, whereas last time we had a sustained period of negative temperatures.
  16. uh - ohh -3 degrees this morning.
  17. That game has just been switched to Buckie, presumably to keep the pitch in top notch for Locos' free flowing fitba on Wednesday.
  18. Why, do I stand a chance of getting a game? Style of play? Are the Locos supposed to have one? This is the highland league FFS. Honest to god, up and at 'em, take no prisoners, skill optional. The worse the pitch the better.
  19. Oi, I payed good money to watch that pish. Surely you mean at least 14 though?
  20. BTW, we're in white for some reason.
  21. Yesterday wasnt as cold as forecast, and today we've got rain/sleet showers but nothing too bad at all. No negative temps yet. The ground isnt covered at the moment and it would be ok for a game this evening, no probs. The weather's far better than the first game was so I very much doubt there will be an early call off. I dont think there's any need for an inspection just now at all so if it does get called off it'll be Weds afternoon I'd have thought. So far so good. By the way, Please Be Gentle With Us.
  22. This is the first season we've been behind in games actually. We're one game behind anyway because there's an odd number of teams in the league and so the teams miss out on a game at different times. We won the challenge cup so went 1 behind there and then the Scottish cup run has cost us the other 3. Some of the postponements have been justified, but some not - one of the Vale of Leithen games was postponed because the refs assistant thought one of the astroturf strips we've got was frozen. Seemingly they wouldnt run a foot behind it like some do, switch the linesman's sides, shorten the pitch etc so even though the pitch was fine poor VOL had a wasted journey. We have had some bloody cold weather here this past couple of months though Only beat Forres 2-1 yesterday, playing a much more conservative 4-4-2 presumably in practise for the defensive formation needed v Well.
  23. If that forecast is anywhere near right we might as well call it off now. I think they usually under-estimate how cold it gets at night too.
  24. Why was this game not played yesterday? Someone somewhere made a seriously stupid decision to delay the rescheduled game.
  25. Yep, totally thawed out now. Game could have been played on Sunday but not Saturday IMO.
