  1. Mon the Brechin! If they are going to do it, then they are gonna need to do it in the next 30mins. EDIT: That lasted long..

In two minds here. Do I take the chance that the game will indeed be on and take the Wed-Fri as annual leave and take the journey up from Liverpool on the chance that it goes ahead. Or do I do the sensible thing and save the 3 days annual leave for later in the year and give the game a miss. Decisions. Decisions. Decisions.
  3. That'll do.. Never seen Brechin before..

  6. We were shite the season we finished bottom and survived due to Falkirk's inability to raise a proper stadium fit for SPL purpose, but Faddy was in that team. So, just cos we were shite, we have to automatically suggest that Faddy was shite? Football doesn't work like that, good players play for shit teams. It's the pish that surrounds that quality that brings them down, it takes a really good player to still stand out and catch the eye, when your team are constantly getting gubbed. Yes, ICT are pish, doesn't mean that everyone that plays for them are equally as poor. Neither Cowie nor Imrie are "SPL has beens". Both are well short of there prime. Both were picked up in the same way Robertson, Swanson, Dixon were for United. Cowie excelled for Ross County before moving on to ICT. Whereas Imrie was excellent for Clyde before moving up to ICT. So, there is absolutely no difference in the careers of Cowie/Imrie compared to Robertson/Dixon. And I am sure most on here would be happy to sign either of United's "1st Division Players". ICT happened to be the only team willing to gamble on these players, they have since proved themselves at SPL level, so why not sign either of them up? Certainly an improvement on McGarry anyway..
  7. What a signing if this could come off. But, thought beforehand some Championship clubs (heard Bristol City mentioned) and even Rangers have been touted as a possible destination for Cowie. Certainly believed he was much out our range. I mean he is twice the player of Black yet he ends up at Hearts for next season? Supposedly a bigger club than ourselves. Just can't see that happening to be honest. Would be amazing if he ended up at Fir Park next season. But, on a side-note, Andy Dorman a similar type of player to Cowie. Both apparently that cut above the rest of their respective team. But, my god seeing Dorman on Saturday how disappointing he was. Absolute gash, and any sort of 50/50 he shat out of it. Can't judge a player by one game, just didn't understand the hype that surrounds him..

I am positive that it is the start of June. It's ridiculously early. Basically the start of the old Intertoto which did indeed start at the beginning on June (Scottish teams used to enter at a later stage which was indeed mid-July).
  9. Crackin' to see him back and moving freely. Terrible what happened to him against Cluj. But, everyone is banging on about needing to sign another defender as cover. Having McLean fit again will be the equivelant of a new signing for us. Fair enough he ain't the giant centre back we all want who will command the box (cos well he did get outjumped by McDonald last season). But, he is certainly more than good enough to be adequate cover. Combine that with Klimpl being versatile, and McLean himself being rather versatile CB, RB, RM, CM (at a push). Maybe that defender isn't such a great priority as we first thought..
  10. Well he does say Wednesday night, which is clearly the 'Well vs Hearts match..

Reasoning for this is that UEFA have totally scrapped the Intertoto Cup, and it is now a huge extension of the UEFA Cup. Basically comined the two and replaced it with a new name "The Europa Cup". Whereas before the Intertoto was totally optional and each country were not obliged to send a participant. I mean, Dundee and Hibs, Partick are the only ones really to take part from Scotland. Very rarely used. But, now we are compelled to send a team to the very beginning of the Europa Cup. This is the equivelant of the start of the Intertoto, whereas before we would have (if chose to take part) been playing our first tie early July. The team that finishes 5th (assuming the Cup winners have qualified) will have there first game at the start of June. So, about a fortnight after the last game of the season/Scottish Cup. Handy..
  12. True, total votes is currently standing at 23, but clearly there is more than 23 votes in total beside the players. Ah well heyho.. It's a FARCE!
  13. Well, if you want to slate him, let's look into the recent past - Caley game Can't tackle? Well against Caley with prime view from the Cooper he covered round 3 times when Craigan and Reynolds were caught out over the top and the attacking midfielder from Caley would have been through on goal if PQ had not covered round to either pass to Hammell or concede a throw in the East Stand side. So, he can read the game very well, and those were vital interceptions that stopped clear goalscoring opportunities. Can't cross? Again, against Caley was it not his cross that was right on Porter's head for his 2nd of the 3 goals? An assist in his last two games, it's one more that 4k a week Stephen Hughes, our most creative player apparently..

If that happens to be the case then we are screwed surely? We simply can't compete ala Kennedy/Webster.

Was it not the other way around, was it not Quinn that put the ball in for the 1st? O'Brien having 3 or 4 attempts, then layed it for Quinn first time, on the head - 1-0!?

What a fuckin' good performance that was. Proper good football and a real throw back to last season. Scoreline did not reflect the way the game went, could easily have been more. Million times more possession, territory and creativity on show. Just a shame it has taken us to Dec 27th to realise that playing the ball on the deck works. Fantastic at times, and a real joy to watch. Yes, we never created that many clear-cut chances, but the all round play was great, the one touch passing and switching the ball from side to side, for players in space. Brilliant. Good way for Porter to sign off, if he does indeed move on in Jan. First Hat-Trick from a 'Well player since Clarky against Utd at New Year 3/4/5 yrs ago? Found it quite ironic that we finally play the ball on the deck for the first time all season (maybe bar United on the 3rd day) and we score 3 headers. Great display. Really impressed by: O'Brien - Very hard working, able to beat a man, yes his crossing wasn't the best at times, but miles better than DLS' attempts. Never scared to jump in head first and put it where it hurts. Clarkson - Absolutely fantastic, that is what we have been missing in the last 7 games. His work rate, his ability to take a man on time and time again. Seems to be oozing confidence, and that is him playing and running with only one arm. Surely must affect his play, yet it was great. Constant nuisance. Klimpl - Just shows he ain't a defender, too much like a headless chicken for that but midfield he can get away with it and very tidy with the ball as well. Impresssed. Hughes - Gave the ball away at times needlessly, but defo getting back to last seasons form, was everywhere and constantly harrying. Little bit of creativity every now and again. Craigan - Yes, we conceded twice, but having his experience is vital. He takes plenty of stick but taking him out the team for the last few weeks shows why we need him so much. And a few lovely balls at times. But.. Richmond - fuck me that was terrible... absolutely dismal showing. Giving us fuck all would be an understatement. So one-sided it was unreal. Awful display. Lucky in the end it didn't cost us. Fud. Also, is there ever gonna be a game when that useless fud Tokely doesn't score against us? Must be near double figures against us..?
  17. We got rid at the right time. Can't have room for sentiment in football, as much as he will be regarded as a potential legend at the 'Well. It was in both our interests for the two parties to part company. He never fully recovered from the serious injury picked up against Utd on the final day the season before he left. And couldn't break into the Killie team, is now a first division player unfortunately.
  18. Thank fuck for that then! Least it is a Saturday, gives me a chance to get up now. Good times.
  19. Think they may be looking seriously at Szamatulski - the 'keeper they had last season before departing and subsequently getting released at PNE. Apparently, according to the BBC Hibs have 48hrs to make a decision on signing him, but got the feeling Utd may nip in and steal him back to Tannadice.
  20. Yeah, MotM in El Grande Classico.. Ohhh your talking about his form preceding that game, then yes a tad shaky.. But "form is temporary, class is permanent" - and Casillas proved that with a fantastic display at the Nou Camp.. Now comparing Smith to Casillas, a tad farfetched..
  21. I am guessing you never saw the Setanta broadcast from Monday night then!? Wouldn't be so sure. Small pitch, giant killing etc. Stranger things have happened, this can't be dismissed. Histon vs Leeds anyone..?
