Sorry to piss on your parade.. There is less than 0% chance of Sigurdsson or Gudjohnsen appearing at Fir Park next week or the return leg in Iceland. Simple. Why would a possible Champions League player, risk playing in the insignificant Europa League (I understand he wont be cup tied by playing in the lesser of the two tournaments), why would he risk a potential ligament or leg break playing in this match - just for a "favour"? Why would AS Monaco to take the chance of losing out on a transfer fee? Why would Spurs sanction a future player - helping out one of his national sides? Why would Gudjohnsen lower himself to such a standard anyway? Not to mention Gudjohnsen is probably on about 30k + per week - does he just wave off that in order to play for a couple of weeks? Or do Monaco continue to pay his wages, whilst he swans around Iceland for a month? As for Sigurdsson - the same rule applies - why would Reading risk one of their star players being injured for the upcoming season - when he will be vitally required for there play-off/promotion push? Not to mention if they are thinking about cashing in, why take the chance of injury? Just will not happen.

Probably is a sure indication that he is away, but as you say he is not contractually obliged to participate in training. Nor would he be insured by anyone in the case of severe injury. And therefore he and Motherwell would not be willing to risk him, accidentally harming himself in an innocent 5-a-side game. But, with 2 weeks to our opening game in Europe. And this being a major carrot for any player signing on for another year, or prospective new players coming in - would be looking to sign up in time and get as much pre-season under their belt before the game arrives upon us. As for signing Spanish Non-League players. Some of the players that have graced our league in the past 10yrs, have probably came from Spanish Non-League. Quino, Rubio and Davide Fernandez - all of Livingston came from Spanish Non-League. Quino and Rubio being arguably two of the best midfielders/centre backs respectively. And Fernandez has been responsbible for a 6-figure transfer fee. Nacho Novo and Javier Artero - both of Dundee (I know Novo was initially Raith). Novo came from lower league club - Huesca and has since gone on to be a Rangers cult legend and scored the best part of 100 goals in Scotland. Artero on the other hand was a fixture for a couple of seasons at Dundee from another non-league Spanish Club and scored one of the best goals the SPL has seen (at our expense, as we all know). Francisco Sandaza - Yes may have been on the books of Valencia, but there B team participate in the non-league section of Spain. And bar fitness problems, seems a decent enough SPL striker. Suso Santana - A slowish start to his Hearts career - but was a fixture in there first XI last season, who despite being pish still claimed a top 6 spot. Another player that came from non-league Spain. He may have been on the books at La Liga Tenerife (well La Liga, as of last season anyway) but he spent his career on loan at lower league clubs. Plenty of players out there that would do more than a job in the SPL. Let's face it if Jim Hamilton, Kyle Lafferty, Yves MaKalambay, Mo Camara etc can cut out a career in the SPL. Then some Spanish rejects are probably more than capable.

Perhaps the Airdrie 'keeper is just Kosiorowski's replacement for 3rd keeper, on a minimal wage. Afterall we saw at Tynecastle, when Fraser in goals, we had a kid on the bench, that would most likely be completely out his depth if thrown in if Fraser was injured/sent off. Still need that 3rd keeper in occasions like this. So, no where to suggest that Fraser #1 and Hollis #2, they could easily still be #2 and #3 respectively.

I thought the same, however - the fact we have clinched Europe - perhaps Everton are willing for Lukas/Ruddy to show off what they can do on the off-chance we draw a big name - i.e Juventus/Liverpool/Stuttgart/Getafe and either play a blinder and would attract far greater interest than one or two lower league scouts at an Everton Reserves vs Dagenham match for example. Afterall, we did see Ruddy's qualities in his debut against Steaua - and Moyes would be hoping a similar display could see them pocket a few extra quid. The 3 month loan (if at all true) would still allow enough time for Everton to recall before the end of the transfer window, for a possible sale. All if's and but's - but its certainly not as ridiculous as it first seems. However, Reynolds or no-Reynolds, there is no way I can see us paying anywhere near £500k in total for these two players. There is a very remote chance I feel that we could have stumped up say £200k for ONE of them (most likely Lukas), but with the pitch repairs - I just think £500k is far too much of a gamble from Boyle - and he wouldnt be willing. Far greater risk than when we signed Porter, which was inflated wages + signing on bonus. This is a massive transfer fee on top of this. Pretty much our biggest ever transfer when combined really. Unlikely to say the least.

Considering the way Lukas hobbled round the field after the game on Wed, combined with the fact he has been struggling for months now. Will he be able to play on Sunday? I am sure he wouldn't want to miss the game, however it did look bad on Wed.

Hammell for me, little - if any mistakes at all day. Solid in the tackle, supported well. Giles did stand out from the midfield, however a few slack/loose passes, means my award would go to Hammell. Similarly, Saunders whom put in another good performance, but was let down in the first half by O'Brien who gave little help and subsequently meant that Saunders had to deal with Wallace and Templeton. And as such struggled at times. But, on the whole - a very good performance from him again. Whole team deserve credit, with no-one really underperforming.

Granted, Gomes has came on leaps and bounds since Winter 2008, and it does normally take a foreigner a season or so to properly adjust to the British leagues. But, the difference between someone like Gomes to Fraser is that Fraser wasn't coming to a new country, with a completely different style of football than he is used to - frantic and physical, not to mention Fraser does not need to learn a language in order to communicate successfully with his defenders. Nor did Fraser come with glowing reports from his previous club - as Gomes did with PSV and had shown his qualities in the Champs Lge as well as Internationally with one of the best countries in the world. We ended up with Fraser getting slaughtered by the Caley fans that witnessed his performances. Difference between us and Spurs fans is they knew there was a 'keeper in there somewhere as shown by his exploits over the past few years - do we really know what great a 'keeper Fraser could be?

We also beat Flamurtari 8-1 with Fraser in goal. Considering Lukas has been playing with one fully functioning leg for those two games. In fact he was introduced at Perth the other month (again far from fit) and the 15mins that he was on the park, he completely changed the game - gave us a threat and subsequently was responsible for the shot that Sutton put in. And the past two games, at Parkhead held the ball up extremely well, and won numerous free kicks until he was completely fucked that he could no longer move. And, on Sunday he was fit enough just to win headers and be a body in the way - he could barely swing a leg at the ball. Unfair to judge Lukas on those two performances. Although, no doubting Ruddy is the far more required signing (if we had the most remote chance of either)..

Firstly, they have Adam Hammill on there books, whom many on here have creamed themselves over for the past couple of seasons (since his stint with the Pars) for a loan deal when he was contracted to Liverpool. Secondly, aren't that competitive? Well, for most of the season they have lumbered just shy of mid-table, and with one big push could have been thereabouts for the Play-offs (similar to Blackpool). Thirdly, no chance of getting to Europe? Well, 2yrs ago, they were 90mins away from participating in an FA Cup Final - with a realistic chance of beating a decent Pompey side in the Final, which in turn would have resulted in European football. Barnsley are a far bigger club than ourselves in support, finance etc. We are on par with Leyton Orient and similar sized clubs towards League 1/2, and that's where we have to compete with. So, aye O'Brien should be off like a shot - given the opportunity.
