The Rangers V Motherwell Spfl Playoff Final 28/05/15
MelvinBragg replied to Yabba's Turd's topic in Club Chat
Checked bet365 yesterday. Rangers to win over two games 8/11, Motherwell 13/8... -
For me, Ruddy was more likely to pull out a world class save but also more prone to the odd howler (losing the ball at Tannadice, throwing a free kick into the net vs Hibs). Randolph wouldn't make the same jaw dropping saves but was a bit more reliable in that he made fewer howlers. Both cracking keepers who have made a rod for the back of every keeper that's followed them...

Moore looks to have a decent football brain in terms of decision making but not physically up to carrying it out. Like LD said, hopefully a good preseason will make a difference. Watt looks pretty promising to me. A full back who realises his primary role is to defend. Can work on other aspects of his game. Other than that, the game was ninety minutes of my life I won't get back...

Three or four potential starters risked. If he wants to go with Laing next week, had to play him today...

Aberdeen apparently looking at taking Bryan Gunn's son Angus on loan for the goalkeeping position..

Why should you not pay £24 for Motherwell vs Falkirk and pay £24 for Motherwell vs Ross County? See what I did there? Other than a couple of teams, most of the teams in the Championship could be SPL sides. Most have been at some point. Is there that much difference between St Johnstone and Raith Rovers? Falkirk and Ross County? St Mirren and Partick Thistle..?

I understand those saying 451 is the way to go for the away leg but it's important to remember that most of the teams we've visited recently play 451. Rangers and Hibs both play 442 (albeit Hibs play with a diamond). Slightly lessens the chances of us getting overrun if we play 442...

James Keatings told by Hearts he is free to leave even although he has a year left on his contract. The sort of player we should be looking at?

I'd say yay but doubt he'd come here after being kicked out when we went into administration...

Season Tickets 2015/16 *** Topics Merged ***
MelvinBragg replied to Toxteth O'Grady's topic in Club Chat
With the exception of Celtic, Aberdeen and maybe the Dundee clubs, we'll not be playing against clubs that much smaller next season should we go down. I suspect geography might actually do us a favour in this situation as Hibs/Rangers, Falkirk, Morton and St Mirren will bring more than Ross County, ICT and St Johnstone. And should we go down, it's not as if we'll be watching (with the greatest respect) Albion Rovers, Queens Park or Berwick Rangers. A lot of sides in the Championship are of a size comparable to some in the SPL. An exciting league beckons if we go down. Might be more worth the money than this season... -
This, 100%...

First thought that popped into my head...

Maybe the board have realised that severe cutting of cloth in the case of relegation would increase the chances of us not bouncing straight back. Can't say I'm overly surprised. The offering of a two year deal to Pearson before we knew which league would be in didn't strike me as a club worrying about the budget for next season. When you listen to him, he gives the impression that relegation would simply be seen as a minor setback in a longer term plan...

Ramsden in for Law is the only change tonight. Kerr takes Ramsden's spot on the bench...
-
Indeed. If we can get to the last day in touch with both of them, it's in our own hands...
-
Two wins (as long as one of them is tonight) and a draw if Killie or County lose all their games would do it. Or three wins and either Killie or County only picking up a point from their last three games would also do it. So a couple of possibilities. If we lose tonight, it's eleventh place. A draw and it looks almost impossible. Need to win the next two and hope County pick up zero points. So not a case that we will definitely need to win all three but likely we'll have to...

Partick Thistle confirmed as a Saturday 3pm. Obviously the media figure 11th and 12th is sorted...

Put in a dangerous cross, then worry about which team mate gets on the end of it...

Can think of a couple of goals he set up recently without thinking too hard. Cross for Ainsworth's second against Accies, free kick for Sutton header. Also wins a lot of free kicks and gets us up the park quite quickly. I think he's got a bit to offer. Needs to improve his stamina though...

Not sure but, other than Pearson, none of our players were claiming for it...

McDonald? Terrible performance. Wrong boots on? Couldn't stay on his feet. Decision making not great. He and Pearson were both dreadful today. Lasley didn't do much wrong, thought Grant was decent and Johnson had a good first half. Hammell saved us from conceding a couple of times so probably give it to him...
-
Question is, why isn't McManus doing this? Tweed said to me at the game that Sutton, Lasley and Law were the only three that looked like they gave a shit. I'd probably add Hammell to that list, but couldn't argue with the general point. Look around the team, forget footballing ability. How many of this team would you want beside you in the trenches during a war? Character is lacking in too many...

Sometimes I hate being right. Individual errors have cost us a lot this season. Not a lot the manager can do when that happens. But the substitutions were baffling today. McDonald and Pearson were both having dreadful games yet somehow stayed on the park. I wish we had a leader and organiser at the back as good as Quinn...

Would rather have had Kerr than O'Brien, don't know if Kerr is injured as he's not even on the bench. Honestly have no idea how it's going to go today...

Whether or not I agree with your assessment of Josh Law, to say all of our signings from the English lower leagues have been failures is unquestionably a lie...
