  1. Good to have the keeper in. He said he's heard good things about the club. Thanks due to Jamie Murphy and Michael Higdon..?
  2. I like Erwin a lot and can see his potential but he's not played one full season for us and has scored one goal. I can't see why Brighton would come in just now when he's out of contract in the summer. For the player himself, he needs games. I reckon he'll get them here, irrespective of who we bring in today. If I were the club, I'd be asking him to sign a new contract with the understanding that when a decent offer comes in where he thinks he'll play and develop, we won't stand in his way. Jamie Murphy waited and is playing every week for a bigger club than Brighton...
  3. According to club twitter, working hard on a few things today. Be good to get the goalkeeper confirmed and see who else we can get in. If we bring in two players today and keep a hold of everyone else, we'll have brought in five players and lost one. Should bin any talk of a small squad. Some of the injured players back and we'll have some options...
  4. Still pretty young. Been out on loan a couple of times although even then hasn't played a great number of games. Worth a punt til the end of the season? Depending on his wage demands and maybe moving a midfielder on (tricky given they're all injured), we could do worse...
  5. Dundee United to replace Armstrong? St Mirren to replace McLean? Certainly are a few places he could end up...
  6. Don't see much I can argue with in this post...
  7. Pretty sure Wigan were in the EPL when he signed for them so, yes, highly rated at the time. If we're looking for a creative midfielder, he could be an option. Wouldn't need to do it today as he's now a free agent although have to figure other SPL clubs might be interested...
  8. Looking for midfield options.. Fraser Fyvie released by Wigan. Maybe end up at St Mirren to replace McLean? Could be good for us... Craig Eastmond. Released by Colchester. Our type of player. According to Wikipedia, can also play right back...
  9. Sounds promising. If confirmed, could be a good bit of business...
  10. Hopefully not. Selling our main goalscorer to a rival. As much as some don't rate Sutton (and he has his limitations), he scores goals...
  11. According to SSN, we're bringing in a keeper from Sheff Utd, George Long. 6ft4 apparently... EDIT Just beaten to it. Wonder if this means Nielsen on his way somewhere...
  12. So they'll have money to spend? Have to imagine Teale would have had contingency plans given that there have been bids for McLean before. Be interesting to see how our squads compare after midnight tonight...
  13. Indeed. Watching their game on Friday, thought to myself "if only we had a player with that kind of drive". Be interested to see if they replace him and how much they get for him...
  14. Honestly, Malky, first half he looked almost Thermeus/Casagolda like in his ineptitude. Looked better at left back but as a winger, he should get fired out of a cannon...
  15. Apparently not. But I reckon we'll bring at least one in. We're generally not bad at keeping our targets a secret until the deal is pretty much done...
  16. Haven't heard that one. Where's that story come from?
  17. Would be a concern unless we bring in someone in his place...
  18. Just been texted a rumour that Ainsworth is off today somewhere down south. No other details...
  19. In Scotland, yes. Lower league clubs in England can bring in loans next week...
  20. I'd thought that as well. But just watched Burrows interviewing Baraclough after Saturday and Burrows mentioned "two or three more" new faces. I'd imagine that he would know what was happening...
  21. They have full houses most weeks? Also the player was from the Dutch second tier, fee unlikely to be massive...
  22. Thought the guy we allegedly had on trial was Hungarian? Although given the club have said that they had to look up the name of the keeper we allegedly had on trial, maybe take most of the names with a pinch of salt...
  23. If you'd have O'Brien in your team ahead of Kerr, Reid or Ramsden at centre back (we have Law or Watt for right back) after Saturday, can I suggest you use deadline day wisely and get your eyes tested? Kerr as dead wood? He's had two decent games at centre back (his natural position) in a row. Have any of our other centre backs managed this so far this season?
  24. Not necessarily a question for today (and I know someone posted this on this forum before, can't find it), but maybe time to look at who we have out of contract in the summer. No need this season to wait and see whether we'll be top or bottom six to determine budget, so looking to secure guys that Baraclough thinks he's going to want next season might be an idea. Thinking of young guys like Erwin, Moore, Thomas, Leitch, Watt and Kerr. From Les Hutchison's interview the other day, he said that we'd be a bit stronger in our transfer dealings. Like to see us take an approach like Hamilton and Dundee United and get our prospects on longer deals with the understanding that we won't stand in their way should a suitable offer come in. Hamilton achieve this despite not having more money than us so don't see why we can't replicate that model...
  25. Unusual feeling as a Motherwell supporter, actually expecting us to do something on transfer deadline day. Not sure if I'd prefer a forward or a midfielder. Both is probably asking for too much...
