  1. We could play name the four? Long, Gallagher, Grimshaw and one other? I thought tonight was more worrying than Saturday against Dundee United and that was poor. At least on Saturday our midfield seemed to control the game for spells. Tonight they were overrun. Guys like Bartley and Pitman dominated. Defence looks dodgy although I'm slightly more willing to cut them some slack given the back four injuries have left us with was probably not one we envisaged using. Given the length of time we are going to be without the injured players, we either need to find a way to make it work or find some alternatives. Up front is where the problems lie. White is not good enough, neither is Long. The fact that we signed Hastie while Livingston signed Forrest looks like a bad move on tonight's evidence. Hylton looks a threat but what good is that when he isn't fit for longer than 30 minutes. Our defence may be imperfect but if you had told me we would concede 1 goal away to Ross County and 1 goal at home to Dundee United, I would hope for a minimum of 2 points out of those games. Unless Lang is some kind of Louis Moult/Pele hybrid, prepare for a relegation battle...
  2. Unsurprisingly same back four and midfield, front three of Seedorf, White and Long. At least it's someone for Long to play off...
  3. Least handsome in a boy band? What's the proper analogy for the weakest guy in a particularly strong team?
  4. I took the approach that the midfield (at least for the first half) was the one area of the team that worked as a unit and seemed to have a bit of balance. So had to be a midfielder. Didn't think Campbell was at his best, toss up between O'Hara and Turnbull. Went for O'Hara, but there wasn't much in it...
  5. More the fact he was asked to play the holding role in midfield yesterday...
  6. First time using the service today and have to say that my stream was ok. No sound in the first half but when in the second half I could hear the commentary, I was very much convinced that silence is golden. In terms of the picture quality, it was fine for me...
  7. Your general point is right. Like I said, when it comes to attacking players I struggle to think of one good signing Robinson has made. Polworth as a creative midfielder is perhaps the best. A couple of good keepers, a few good centre backs and some decent defensive midfielders but when it comes to the creative side of the game, his record is generally quite poor. Attacking players that have done well in his time have been those he has inherited (Moult) or those that have come through the youth system (Turnbull and Scott). Doesn't reflect well...
  8. While you're right his track record in particular at signing attacking players is poor, McGhee signed Frear...
  9. I'd be embarrassed if I were a Dundee United fan that they've only managed to win this 1-0...
  10. This is a poor Dundee United side and they're winning this without breaking a sweat. Get used to hearing 'Motherwell nil' a lot this season...
  11. A few more performances like this and they'll have every right to...
  12. How many times do we have to watch teams come to Fir Park for a point only for us to gift them three?
  13. Marginally the better team but lack of cutting edge. Is a long throw going to become our main tactic? Also a concern how easily they counter attacked on us there....
  14. Dunno if I'm being influenced by reports from the Ross County game but for me Hastie has been dreadful...
  15. Who else would you play in central defence if Lamie is needed for left back?
  16. I do appreciate that they're not even pretending at the Record anymore. Headline could simply have said 'Scottish Clubs'. Nope, it's Celtic and Rangers...
  17. Playing with only two centre midfielders is an act of folly these days...
  18. Won't say too much as I'm at work and didn't see the game but for the second time in as many games, I read here about how the opposition look fitter and sharper. Worrying...
  19. That's right. Expect three in one go shortly....
  20. Oh, I know. Results dictate everything. Concerned that the back five (including the goalkeeper) features three players who didn't play last season. With the unusual nature of the preseason, there's not been a lot of time to get them to function as a unit. Time will tell...
  21. Aye, I'd imagine it's Polworth on the wing. I thought Campbell wouldn't play. I thought it would be a midfield three of Donnelly, O'Hara and Polworth with Watt, Long and Hastie up front. Not convinced by the lineup...
  22. We'll finish 8th and go out of both cups in the quarter finals. We always disappoint when the squad looks decent on paper...
