Are there teams that we could take Mugabi out the back 3 against?
Keep the busy midfield (albeit less support from the full backs) and get 2 up front.
Probably not, no width.
Mugabi is good at what he is there to do but we left him on the ball much more than we needed to, that is not is strongest asset. I voted Paton in a good team performance.
Similar defence to that which played in Paisley, same back 3 and a right footer at left back. It was poor.
Will Miller in place of Davor make the difference?
No, he has to be a free agent at the time the registration window closes, otherwise he needs to wait until the next window opens.
So he can’t sign for St Johnstone but he might be able to sign for a club in India or somewhere further flung.
He lead the line well, Grimshaw got man of the match, United second goal was rolled in from just beyond half way and I had a civilised conversation with Maurice Malpas in hospitality.
I am not usually that bothered when people use the wrong names for our league but seeing ‘SPL’ written down as the title for these match threads doesn’t look right to me.
Why do we wait for a full back to jog over, why do we let the defence get set, why don’t we pick the ball up and throw it at a Motherwell player and get the game going?
5 of last year’s top six were seeded in this round, we played the other away from home. We lost. I have misgivings about the team selection but the result was not a shock.
The boy is standing outside the ground and handing out all the paper tickets that were bought from Fir Park after St Mirren withdrew the online offering.
I assume the ticket office uses contactless payment so the club has the technology, the trick would be to designate a gate in each stand capable of accepting such payment and getting someone to count heads to ensure we didn’t sell more seats than we have (unlikely).
