Forgot to mention re the original topic that I totally agree with anyone who says third place is out of reach this season, and by saying that I'm not being negative or anything like that - just totally realistic. But, and its a very big butt, I wouldnt write us off for fourth place or maybe even stealing a europe spot with a lucky fifth place (assuming we dont get in by winning the cup!). But for any of that to happen we need to be winning consistently and look for that "turning point" when you actually can start to think "we might just do this!". That "turning point" might vary for some people and it definetly wasnt hammering Utd at the weekend but if you think of last season I always think it was the He@rts game in the December when not only did we steal an away 3 points but every single other result that day was perfect for us. On that day I suddenly thought "we might just do this!"....... You know what I mean?

On Mcghee - I've been impressed more and more by his comments since pre the Accies game. He seems to be trying to play the Alex Ferguson type card by using the media to both unsettle the opposition whilst challenging his own squad (who will be totally aware of the part played by the media) and we need to accept this as a part of modern football. If anything its good to see more of his media time spent talking about his own club and for me he will ultimatly be measured on the teams performance over the whole season so lets see what happens! On Buzz - love him to bits for what he has done on the pitch for us and that can never be taken away but lets not talk nonsense about loyalty etc just yet. If he wanted to be at FP next season we wouldn't be getting the cover and as he will be out of contract he no doubt will already be talking to other teams (or his agent will be). I would wish him all the best and no hard feelings if he decides to take more money and step up to a higher level cos we would all do the same and he has done a decent turn for us and made me smile a few times.

Fair enough that this is a very big day for Locos and the romance o' the cup and all that nonsense as well.................. but people are suffering financially and have an absolute right to have a whinge about that and if that can be contained to this forum and doesnt detract from anyone's love of the club - then so be it! I'm a contractor who wont be paid for my time off and face a 1100 mile round trip to make this game and once you tote up the travel, lost work, hotels, beer, etc., the ongoing postponement is a pain in the @rse that is costing me a fortune. SO LET ME HAVE MY MOAN!!! Will be as happy as anyone to see this kickoff and all will be forgotten after we hump one of the old scum in the final

Only sounds harsh now but when I wrote this they had just announced that the pitch inspection would be at 9 or 10am TOMORROW. My point was everyone knows the situation with the pitch and the weather and I was pleasantly (not) surprised that within the hour the game was off. Common sense to prevail was what I wanted and it happened
-
Might not be in the spirit of the game but it should be in the bloody rules - so you get two chance's at rescheduling and then it's played at Fir Park. No one can complain then because thats "the rules"...
-
You hoping for a replay then so you can enjoy the luxuries of Fir Park (cos you aint getting near St Midden)

I'm putting my money on this not happening next week and we will end up playing on Saturday 7th when the 5th round games take place. Below is the forecasted weather in Inverurie for the next week and the temperatures never really get above freezing (even before the wind chill factor) so its almost certain the ground will still be frozen.
-
Thats right, should be played on the Wednesday and if that doesnt happen it will be played on the same Saturday as the 5th round ties - that might even be preferable!!!
-
I think we all knew it would be off but well done to whoever brought the inspection forward
-
I think it's absolute b0ll0x and unacceptable that after having a week of reasonably mild weather, it had been forcast for some time that the temperatures would start to drop from the weekend and stay that way til after Wednesday. If we all knew that was forecast then why have the covers not been on and why is every picture that we see on either the Locos or our own official website showing a covered pitch!!! Between now and tomorrow night it is predicted to stay the same or get colder so why isn't an earlier inspection being done at say 4PM today and not a lot is going to change between then and tomorrow. Especially on an uncovered pitch that has no one working on it. Would love to see a picture of the pitch today if anyone is up there with a mobile phone with a camera.

Tomorrows forecast below which is almost identical to todays. All the forecasts are very similiar now but I like the fact that this one gives you the "feels like" temperature, which is a more realistc measure. If you ground has been clear of frost for the last week and the covers are already down then they might just have done enough to get this game on.

And we have just signed Michael Fraser from Inverness, so there's another keeper that cant speak english!!
-
Shame, but after all our efforts we are being tanked by that diddy South American side with the West Brom lookalike top!!
-
Sorry but the only other people on the planet that speak that language are Kenny Dagleish and Danny MCgrain. No one else has ever understood a word they speak.........
-
Andy I like it, you should apply for the managers job!!!
-
Looks like all there best chances and the goals came from free kicks and they like to get the ball right into the box and take there chance from that. Now thats been a weakness of ours this season and its a lottery when you pack all those bodies into the box and fire it in!!! Saying that, they definetly look a bit chaotic at the back and I can't see how we can fail to put at least a few past them. Be interesting to see how they line up and do they concentrate on just trying to stop us from scoring or play us at our own game with 2 or 3 upfront and go for the win!!! Andy J - whats your normal style of play?
-
Did we no send that huge ballon thingy up tae cover the whole pitch - or was Malcolm busy!!!
-
Well done to the girls and to the coaching staff. Do we still have a full women's team in the league as well and if so how are they doing?
-
Yep, and he only played 14 games in that season!!! Have to admit that I was all for keeping him but if we have to pay out a substantial amount then alarm bells are ringing
-
Like Gaag says, does anyone know if those covers are down because if they got them down right after playing at the weekend then there is a fair chance this will go ahead. But, it is not going to be much above freezing after Monday and those clear skys predicted for Tues/Wed will result in a real nasty frost. Problem is that the pitch might pass an inspection on Tuesday or even Wed moring but that pitch is only going to get more frozen as the day goes gon. Very hard to predict this one - we need news from someone up there!!!

FC Midtjylland paid £480,000 (£'s not Euros) for him in July 2007 which is a fair whack for a club of that size in that league and it looks like they have him on a minimum 3 year deal with a 2 year extension so I can't see us getting him for nowt and I expect they will be looking for at least £350k to recoup some of that cash. Strange thing is he has only played on average about 25 games every season, so do they have a very short season out there or is he injury prone?

Am I right in thinking that the losing finalists in this years cup don't qualify for Europe and the spot definetly goes to the 5th place team. I know the SFA wanted to push this through before the cup last season but UEFA had knocked them back but can't remember if UEFA has given this the nod for this year. And agree with Ya Bezzer, whilst I'd love to see us grab the 3rd/4th spot I think its still to big a job this year although I'd love to be proven wrong
-
Be nice to sort that deal now just in case he stunning for the next 3 months and then we can't afford him as I'm sure yer Hearts and Hibs will be sniffin around as well - I'd definetly be willing to take the gamble and sign him now!
-
If Buzz's contract is up in the summer then surely he will be looking now for a club if we haven't offered him anything.

And i'm sure that the first goal was a 28 yard screamer that took out the back of the net.
