  1. Absolutely. I kept my response brief in the other thread. But you said it much better than I.
  2. We'll be back after today. And I don't understand anybody who chooses not to. Sorry.
  3. ...er...for him to kick it in???
  4. No excuses. Wonder what the "excuse" in court was...maybe he was pulled out his pram by his ears... The best and most appropriate thing MFC can do is to make sure he's very publicly dropped, as a warning to others.
  5. I was brought up by a Steelman.......and my first game was the Texaco Cup...I went with two chaps from Dalziel High School. It was the first time I lifted my feet off the ground, and was transported by the crowd...(tbh..I only went cos I fancied one of them!!)

    Sad News

Condolences to you and your family. RIP
  10. Well........I can arrange a hearing test...
  11. What exactly are the stewards doing when they appear to stare out the fans?? It seems to be increasingly more obvious as the weeks go on. We stood and applauded when we equalised, and two female stewards took a few steps towards where we were standing. I'm absolutely no threat to security, but the stewards were obviously ready to pounce if I'd attempted to invade the pitch..... Not that I think its worth noting, but I was treated to two repeats of the soldier's song in the 67 minute...very clearly too.

    Ewan Cameron

"....and your point caller...???"...Jimmy Sanderson...the only man who could handle telephone enquirers. Ewan Cameron, Roughie, Jim Traynor et al are poor would-be's. Obviously, I listen to the phone ins in the car pre and post matches. But I listen like a woman...and think I could do better. And that's saying something!!! Turn off...and ignore. They're a waste of time.

    Pubs

Is the point to do with the purchase?? Rather than the witnessing of the actual drinking of alcohol?? I dont know. Its the first I've ever heard of this. I thought the law covered the sale of food..as long as there was food for sale, then kids were allowed....I stand to be corrected.

    Pubs

    I didn't know that.
  15. Off the pitch, he was a true gentleman, and was a great ambassador for the Club. I met him a few times when he and other team members would be summoned to the then Chairman's place of work.... ..good times.
  16. I'm sure round about 77/78 this was the "offical" club song sponsored by "Cy Lawrie" clothing. A rave from the grave, Cy Lawrie.......thats where I bought decent jeans... When the then Chairman of the Club gave me free season tickets.......
  17. I went to the FP Club a few years ago, and was horrified that it was known locally as "Grab-a-Granny "night. ..........
  18. I think the emphasis is on the word "Forced" to give evidence.
  19. It beggars belief Spencer thought he could get away from his debt. Good on JB for pursuing......a wee terrier with his dander up!!
  20. This sounds fantastic! I wish you every success with the site. I would be interested in the post war period, particularly the early fifties, when my Dad and Uncle faithfully supported at Fir Park. Alledgedly, there is a photograph taken of the two of them in their bunnets and mufflers on the terracing, (just the two of them......I think they were the support on this occasion, )and it appeared in the Motherwell Times. I've always meant to trawl through the back copies, but never got round to it. Good luck. I look forward to reading it.
  21. I agree with you about the speculation. We're all good at it!!
  22. I didn't say Motherwell was going downhill from last Christmas. I said they experienced the most awful trauma last Christmas. I said that I felt since the summer, that Mr McGhee has appeared to be misjudging the support his players required, and that in my opinion, it is not entirely unconnected with the "non move" elsewhere. I've been underwhelmed by a manager doing his job. When the team finished last season, Mr McGhee was lauded for his measured style in dealing with a team of players who were left reeling after the tragedy last Christmas. Approaching the first anniversary of any bereavement is difficult, and I felt that, particularly since the start of the season, Mr McGhee has perhaps misjudged the sensitivity needed to address this. Its nothing to do with a manager jumping up and down on the sidelines.
  23. How many seats are EMPTY , on average, per home game?? With the outreach going on in primary schools, is it feasible to encourage free support all season for under twelves(or whatever), to bring in more adults who perhaps travel outwith the area...and to ensure a "routine" every home game for increased support. A lucky dip for North lanarkshire schoolkids, through outreach again, for leading the players on the pitch...again throughout the season....with an obligatory photo in the local paper every second week. I remember a good few years back, regular photographs appeared in the Motherwell Times, of schoolkids from a local secondary school which was considered to be struggling in an area of high social exclusion. The management of the school placed great emphasis on inclusion, starting with the simplest of school requirements.....the wearing of the school uniform, with the associated pride of belonging to something of great worth. This process took approximately six years to become the norm. During this time, everything that could be celebrated, was celebrated, and documented in the local newspaper. The results speak for themselves, both in social inclusion, academic achievement, and local pride.(and an increase in circulation for the local paper!!) This is purely an analogy to emphasis the small steps that MAY work for an eventual increase in the gate. My kids were brought up to support MFC, and that it was inappropriate to pass their local gate, in favour of travelling into Parkhead or Ibrox...just as I was!!
  24. Again... I've never said that the players had lost respect for Mr McGhee. And I totally agree that its team effort.
