  1. I grew up watching from the south enclosure so there's a wee bit of nostalgia there for me. If the walls are going on safety grounds then the H+S guys must see one side of the ground as safer than the other! I would have thought the walls prevent players going crashing onto the concrete steps (never a good combination with studded boots).
  2. So what did the player look like? A superstar in the making?
  3. I was speaking to a Carlisle supporter I know who said that Gillespie is a good keeper and they could have been doing with him back. Said he's good all-round, very good shot stopper but maybe needs to improve his distribution. Still young and has potential.
  4. I've sometimes thought Murray looks quite threatening but he appears to have little finishing ability and missed several astounding sitters last season. Not what we need. O'Halloran offers pace and has some finishing ability as well.
  5. The chat about O'Halloran seems to have gone quiet. I'd personally take him rather than Ciftci to provide a bit of pace.
  6. You wonder what difference it makes when the content is as low as that.
  7. Don't see why they can't still allow their grass to grow. They'll just have short plastic by comparison. He'd find something else to moan about anyway.
  8. Good to see recognition for the pitch. Not sure how closely you can look at the results although the general outcome of the survey will provide a fair indication. As it's based on player votes they will have mainly played on pitches in their division (cup games excepted) and will have therefore voted for one of those. If a pitch is a stand-out in that division, possibly Stirling or Hampden, it will win most of the votes from that division. Similarly Accies' pitch stands out for the wrong reasons in our division. Perhaps Stirling are deservedly top ranking- I don't know as I haven't seen them all but I doubt many players have either. It did surprise me to see Hampden as high though.
  9. Is somebody actually making and selling that fake Rangers top?
  10. Sorry, you're right. Got confused- think it's my age!
  11. That's actually a wee bit unfair on Quinn who has also played for Cardiff, Doncaster, Dundee United and, to muddy the waters further, Aberdeen. However I agree he's not managed to become the mainstay of a defence in the Reynolds and hold down a place in one team for several years. Quinn's done well out of the game but I would put him in the bracket of successful journeyman.
  12. Was that the game Clarkson played (and scored) as well?
  13. Well it is a bit quiet until we sign somebody or at least there's speculation.
  14. I had to look that story up as it seemed too strange to be true. That's a real shame for him and I can understand it hitting him hard.
  15. He looked quite good from what I saw of him in the play-off. Pacy and direct.
  16. Thoroughly enjoyed the wee trip to face Edinburgh City last year- would gladly take that again.
  17. I'd assumed that the journalist had probably read this very thread and then done a bit more research to churn out a non-newsworty lazy article.
  18. The back page of this morning's Sun (I know, it was lying about in the roll shop) has an 'exclusive ' saying we still owe money to Boyle and Hutchison. In other news, JFK has been shot.
  19. Hope he gets it sorted. I'm always amazed at how well paid footballers end up in financial difficulties- they're either being badly advised or are crazy with money. Slightly surprised as he always came across as fairly sensible. Hopefully having a job lets him get a payment scheme arranged.
  20. Good to hear. I assume this is our first official whisky partner. Was it Tullibardine that the distillery visit went to before the St. Johnstone game last season? Was it because the manager is a Motherwell fan?
  21. A tall midfielder? How many can we play in midfield?
  22. I get where you're coming from but there are games when we are behind and need to change our style of play. Leaving the final to one side, as I think Celtic had taken their foot off the gas and it's probably an unfair comparison anyway, he totally changed the two games at Firhill and looked good against Accies by attempting to pick out passes. He's still got another year and I wouldn't mind seeing if he can take his recent form into next season but I don't think he's combative enough to be a regular starter under Robinson. Unfortunately I don't think we can afford the type of player that is going to pick the passes and put the level of effort in that we're looking for.
  23. Already? Oh well, as the club Twitter said, we go again.
