  1. I met Mio Krivokapic at a reserve game at Tynecastle, prob during the Kampman era. He's a really nice bloke and he bought me chocolate.

I also met Bobby Jenks when on a tour of tynie back when hamster was there. Me and my brother were wearing our well tops, and Jenks clocked us so took us aside and showed us his office, with the 1991 cup winning photo taking pride of place on his desk. He didn't buy me anything though.

  2. I like BSH's analogy, too many people take these things personally. If we expect players to "do their job" on the pitch, then we should also allow them to treat it like a job and move on when a better offer is available. It's easy to tell Slane to hang around here and get his move in a few years time, but what if he suffers a serious injury in that time? Football is a short career as it is.

  3. I agree with MB that these players should be tied up on contracts before they gain first team exposure, rather than showcasing their talents to everyone while they are still on YTS deals. The OF can afford to wait and see if these young guys turn out to be any good before buying them for pennies (to them anyway) but we have to take the risk at this stage when the cost of a contract for a failed u19 prospect is an easier loss to absorb than losing a potential star (and future transfer fee) for nothing. Bringing through youngsters is the only way to go for clubs like us, so we have to be a bit more clever about it

  4. We can't guarantee results, but the performance sounds a lot better than our recent efforts, although the system isn't far off what we've been playing with. I would guess that we're getting rid of the ball quicker and playing more direct as opposed to pissing about on our own 18 yard line. Sounds like Jennings is getting stuck in too.

  5. It's great to have two well respected and experienced managers to steady the ark. There's unlikely to be any hidden agendas with these guys, and I would think that if things go well there would be a possibility of them staying on at least until the end of the season.

My only worry is the impending transfer window, as the activity in this period is going to make or break our season.

  6. I don't believe Gannon's appointment was a mistake. He had a pretty good track record and had a decent start to his reign considering the players he was left with. Boyle recruited him due to his contacts in the English game, and this seems to have paid off with the signings of Hately, Jennings, Coke, Lukas, yass and Ruddy. He was also known for giving youth a chance, and as such we have seen Hutch, Forbes, Slane, McHugh and Saunders all given a chance when another manager may have signed older players. I could also see Gannon impressing at an interview, as when he first arrived he seemed to say the right things.

Most people praised Boyle for this appointment, as we could have easily gone for someone with no experience or one of the "usual suspects". He did have us playing pretty good football at times, but the European results shouldn't count as our dreadful first leg performances built up those shite teams to be something they weren't. Our league performances up until the second round of old firm games were fine, with only one defeat and quite a few clean sheets weirdly enough. However, someone mentioned the St Mirren game as a turning point, and I agree as this is when the performances started to get very shaky and the real tinkering began.

However, no one could have expected him to spit the dummy like he has, and the amount of sulking that's been going on. The board have made a difficult decision to part way with the manager, but have made the decision for the long term good of the club. Most of us wont ever know what happened behind the scenes, but the board known the importance of staying in the SPL so this decision wouldn't have been taken lightly.

  7. That's funny. I've been pro-yassin all season and though the was shite today!

The experienced guys were poor today, and the only plus point for me was a decent performance from Jennings. We had absolutely nothing up front, and St J nullified our "passing game" pretty easily.

We could have been a couple of goals down early on if not for some good last ditch challenges from Saunders and a good save from Ruddy, but the changes made by both teams at half time left us completely swamped in the midfield and St Johnstone ran the entire second half. Our confidence also looks shot to pieces.

Gannon can moan about the players all he wants, but good managers can organise a team of mediocre players to at least make it hard for the opposition.

  8. GK - Marshall (I'm not picking Ruddy due to the fact that 6 months out of 10 years isn't enough for me)

LB - Hammell (pretty much been our left back in the noughties)

    CB - Partridge

    CB - Craigan

RB - Kaiser - no brainer that one.

    Anywhere - Faddy

    CM - Leitch

    CM - Hughes

FW - Clarkson (7 out of 10 years isn't bad)

    FW - McDonald

    FW - Porter

    Bench

    Rosscoe, G.Smith, Quinn, Stepover, Foran,

Manager - Butcher, for admin and the cup runs.

  9. All of the defenders and the goalkeeper are to blame for every goal, and it's the midfielders fault for making the defenders have to deal with the problem in the first place, and this wouldn't even be an issue if the strikers scored.
