    Vs Hibs

He looked slow and tentative on the ball to me. There was a couple of times he took the sting out of our attack when he received the ball. Like seedorf, he’s showed glimpses, so there’s plenty of opportunity to prove me wrong. It will be interesting to see where we stand on the crop of wingers come the end of this season.

Seedorf was fine, he made a couple of mistakes but works hard enough and took his goal well. It’s good to see him grow in confidence and improve. he’s clearly still learning, and I’m happy to for him to do that if he can keep scoring goals like that. I’m more worried about Hylton who looked woeful despite the nice finish. Scott is on the verge of really breaking out, it’s easy to forget he’s just turned 19. I forgot to mention Polworth, who I thought was solid again, and is becoming a key player for us. Donnelly also improved in his general display, but the hibs midfield was only as strong as the paper they look good on, which may have been a factor. I’d echo the earlier comment that hibs look like a side that’s trying to get their manager sacked, and he’d probably deserve it for selecting Whittaker.

    Vs Hibs

Hibs played some ok stuff without creating any chances, and I’ll put that down to our defense who all played well. Middleton and Allan might as well have not been on the park. I don’t think we had any standout performances good or bad, but Scott is gaining in confidence and is showing up well on the ball. Long’s movement is excellent, but he really should have taken his chances. Hylton came on and looked terrible, but fair play to him on the goal. Campbell is just fun to watch. God knows why that first one wasn’t a pen. It was a nice finish from Donnelly on the one we did get, was wondering when he was going to switch sides.
  4. Problem is that half the time “good source” = on here or twitter.
  5. I’m going to guess we’re hoping for one of the two keepers to bite on the contract offer. As for the outfield players he mentioned, the out of contract players in 2020 (who aren’t new signings) are - Tait, Hartley, Dunne, Donnelly, livingstone, grimshaw and Maguire. I’ll take a guess at Tait, Dunne and Donnelly. I don’t think any of our new guys are in the Kipre scenario of an immediate extension. It’s great so see us act early, which is probably related to the money we got in for the young players we lost.
  6. Stevie May returns to St Johnstone, so that narrows the available striker pool by one.
  7. Long, grant, Johnson, Thomas and Laing. What a cohort!
  8. I also thought Campbell played well, and was a big part in us controlling most of the game.
  9. Polworth had a good game, and I noticed a lot more defensive involvement on Saturday. I think he has flown under the radar a little, but is going to prove to be an excellent signing. However, I gave my vote to Long, who had good movement all game and showed he could hold the ball up when needed to. His run and finish for the third we’re excellent too.
  10. As for negativity, there’s no problem with criticizing managers and players for their performances, and we all have favorites/least favorites, and venting online is a good avenue for that. However, a lot of folk make up their minds way to early then spend the next year or three looking for opportunities to justify it and others are just plain miserable. We generally accept that we are a club that has to pluck players from obscurity and develop them, which is a strategy that isn’t going to succeed every single time. Depending on your outlook you’re either going to rhyme off the list of success stories or the failures. But calls to get rid of players after a couple of months is just silly. Never mind the fact that terminating contracts costs money (both to pay up the contract then pay for a replacement) , and the player would have to agree to that, which would be a fucking dumb decision if they’re as shite as some folk think. Seedorf and Hylton showed they had something in the cup group stages, but are clearly not ready for league business. The problem is that there’s only one way to get them up to speed and that’s to get them involved. They both have attributes you can’t coach, I.e, pace, it’s up to our coaching staff to refine that and make it work for us consistently, and there are going to be some ups and downs in that process.
  11. Tait and Carroll had the same sickness bug that Gallagher had. So did Polworth but it was earlier in the week and he was passed fit.
  12. Terminate contracts? You’ve jumped the shark.
  13. We were better, Accies we’re terrible. Too easy.
  14. Yess, money watch is back on track!
  15. Their red was harsh, but was a pen, and theirs was a pen too based on this shite new rule. We’ve been the better team, with Scott playing well on the left, but seedorf is terrified to take on his man and has got worse as the half has went on. His step overs are confusing no one but himself. .
  16. Hartley got the equalizer in that game and got us a point we probably didn’t expect, so I dont think his comments are a factor in his current status. In addition to his injuries he was unable to play alongside Aldred (as the left side of the 3) or force his way into the center. Then we went to a back 4 reducing his chances further. By all accounts he is training well, but it’s hard to see him replace Dunne since his distribution is worse and he’s slower. He hasn’t had a run of games in a long time, so it’s hard to judge his ability on the odd game he has featured in. He’s probably still good enough to do a decent job for us, but that might not be enough to justify his salary, which must be close to the highest on our books.
  17. Part of our model is signing players with raw attributes that can’t be coached (in this case pace) and hoping we can coach the rest. Sometimes it will work and sometimes it won’t. Saturday is going to be a terrible game, and it’s probably a good thing that it won’t be on the live stream. Despite all the chat after the hearts game, the only change will be Carroll in for Grimshaw. Did sloth enter fir park via the Holm Kraska door?
  18. It’s the sun, so I’m guessing it is ours and killies turn to be drawn from the rumor box.
  19. Going to be all over the papers tomorrow now that you’ve leaked that. If this link works it should show all the out of contract strikers on transfermrkt. I would like us to sign Norbert Balogh and Walter for their names. Norbert is also the tallest in the list. https://www.transfermarkt.us/spieler/vertragslosespieler/statistik/1/plus//galerie/0?ausrichtung=Sturm&spielerposition_id=14&land_id=alle&altersklasse=&wettbewerb_id=alle&seit=2019&yt0=Show
  20. can we go back to making up transfer rumors now?
  21. You’ll all stop whining when Reach and Engagement make their first team debuts, then we sell them to Bristol City for a couple of million plus add ons.
  22. Apparently Gallagher played the game with a 40 degree temperature which, although not too clever, makes me like him more.
  23. Unless we did some good things in the 10 mins I missed, we were terrible.
  24. I agree with the last point there, we are way better than at this point last year and there’s some optimism. Ultimately I think 6/7th is where we’ll end up, but it’s going to be fun.

    Striker

Everyone is missing a Higdon or a Moult, but we do need someone who offers the ability to win the ball and hold it up. We don’t have the midfield set up to rely on three quick guys trying to get in behind, and Scott is still raw. I’d have lafferty any day, but think it’s beyond us.
