  1. Is it not the case that in the not toooo distant past Belgium had a bit of a crisis, completely binned everything they were doing from Schoolboy level all the way up and did all kinds of revolutionary shit. Clearly I'm a bit short on the technical details here but I'm pretty certain something along these lines happened and what they have now is the reaped rewards of the change in approach. Or I got cunted too much too often in my 20s, that's possible too.

Certainly with a population just over double ours they're exactly the kind of country we should be looking to emulate. Cheeky wee all expenses paid trip for someone at the absolute least.

  2. I heard the skippy interview. The general chat was he has a few offers but we'll have been good to him and there's a decent chance he'll sign back up for us. Most of them are abroad. He also said he feels he has unfinished business down south though and he's talking to some people there too. Reading between the lines, if he gets a decent offer at a decent level in England he'll take it. If that doesn't happen we are in with a good shout

  3. using the same logic JBA they could hav ehtn epushed back on SKY by telling them that it was never goin to happen so why put it in the contract??

They hav emade noises over the years of going to England or transatlantic thingy? so there was never 100% gurantee that they would be here. Not just relegation that had to be condidered.

Hence why they have built the ability to renegotiate into the contract.

They offer a lot of money because the of are in the league. Without them there's less value. They were the only offer on the table and the spl bit their hands off.

  4. If we get relegated our best players get printed and relegation clauses kick in. We've basically had 2 months notice that a big chunk of value is getting chopped from the league that couldn't have been predicted 1 or 2 seasons ago when we were sensibly budgeting using apparently guaranteed income.

That's not to say we wouldn't be in bother if we went down

  5. Fair enough let's just wait and see.

The problem with this whole situation is that people are so desperate for Rangers to be heavily punished that they optimisitically think the financial ramifications on the smaller clubs won't be too bad, or grasp at hopeful speculation like 500 new fans per game and all will be well...well we'll be able to change the voting rights = ££££ etc. It's far from certain that any of the hopeful speculation will come to pass (voting rights aside), and more than likely (imo) that there will be considerable financial pain if they're (rightly) got tae.

In the short to medium term, if we get what we want, we're going to be seeing poorer players in a smaller squad playing worse football for less prize-money - hardly the kind of fare that's going to be bringing lapsed fans back in their droves. Considering we've just had our budget fucked by 4k a week when Rangers are actually in the league, and we've done relatively well last season, I think we can safely say there's going to be quite a lot of pain we'll have to go through to if they're pumped out, especially if we're fucked out the cups early and bottom 6 - I think we all know as well fans that we go through peaks and troughs. This is one of the all time peaks yet we're making cutbacks because we didn't accept 200k for what should be one of our most saleable assets.

There's not enough realism about this issue, and I say that as someone who emailed the club to remind them of their obligations in terms of fan ownership when considering how they would vote on a newco vote.
