  1. Think it's less about talent, and more about attitude with Quinn.
  2. Thats the extent of it, aye. I've put it out there anyway, folk can make up their own minds - just remember where you heard it first!!
  3. Well you do have the commercial staff, the pr staff, the hospitality staff, etc, etc So I was pointing out to save confussion that it came from within the actual football department, not from the other departments within the club.
  4. Someone within the football department of the club
  5. As posted in the In's and Out's thread, I've heard that the club are actively looking to sell Quinn. They have put him in the shop window, hence why all the clubs are showing an interest. Guaranteed he is away for the new season!
  6. It's a done deal! Clarky is offski! ....and the club are actively looking to sell Quinn, with Cardiff a likely destination.
  7. While I'd like to see Harkins and Griffiths at The 'Ark, why should we pay around 500k for the two of them when we can get them next year for free after Dundee have went belly up?! And by then they will be a year more mature and ready to "step up!" But seriously, would love whoever our new manager is to insist on having some sort of transfer pot. Hopefully the Motherwell board can offer some money, take a bit of a gamble. Then I'd like to see us make a move for players such as Harkins and Griffiths. If they prove at hit with us, we will be able to sell them on for a profit (here in lies the gamble I was referring to!)
  8. He was given one game there - not much time to make an inpact! But I just think his dirstrubution could be very effect further up the field. Either that or play Boyle there is he proves to be a decent signing. We badly lack a natural left sided winger and hopefully Boyle can offer some sort of solution.
  9. With Patrick Boyle coming to the club it opens up options. Isn't he able to play on the left wing also? And if he's not, we could push Hammell up into that position and leave Boyle at LB. I think he will prove to be a decent player. You don't get snapped up by the likes of Everton as a youth if your a waster! And on the subject of Foran, I alqays quite liked him, but him resigning for us would be a step backwards for us in my opinion.
  10. I've been led to believe that Hughes is not interested in a move up North. He wants another crack at English football, and if that doesn't materialise then he would stay with us until that chance arrises - two years max. Only other team he would join is Rangers, who after winning the title, probably won't be interested. Heard that from someone within the club who knows him. On the back of this info - if true - he could very well still be at The 'Ark next season.
  11. Just on a side note, think the three artical tribute on the official site is a bit OTT! Aye he done a good job for us, but he has made his move to a club directly compeating with us. Surely a single article would have been enough, with a wee bit at the end saying "Thanks for 2 good years, now lets hope for a third with you getting Aberdeen relegated!!" He's off - end of! I don't need to see the tributes from the club. Would rather just focus on getting the new guy in asap! Chris McCart with Luc Nijholt and Tommy McLean as his backroom staff!
  12. Surely he will want to sign everyone in the squad as we are "the best squad in Scotland outwith the Old Firm"
  13. This is a quality thread!! I'd plough as much dough as I could into the Well and it would become my new hobby and would be my legacy. I'd build a new 120,000 seater stadium to rival anything in the world! All exisiting season ticket holders will be offered full hospitality tickets in the best area of the stadium for free. There would be no stewards present in this area! The rest of the stadium will be filled with all the Smellic and Gers fans who have switched allegiencies because they are either: a) glory hunting bar stewards or b) because I bought over Rangers and Celtic too and them pushed them into complete bankrupcy, relegating them to third division obscurity and basically leaving them with a finacial debt to my personally that will never be repaid! (that'll be the money I live on!) And any former OF fan will have to perform a public humiliation in order to be granted permission to buy a season ticket. As for manager, i'd pick the best coach I could find, as lets face it, I'll be the one making decisions on who gets signed and would gets punted!! And I'd probably only play 10 superstars, with me playing too! I'd sign Barry Ferguson, McCarthey and McGeedy and once they got here all excited to have signed a ten year deal, I'd tell them there job is not to play football but to clean the bogs after football! It's would all be endless fun!!
  14. I've been informed that McGhee is at Parkhead today to discuss his application. However, I think it is only a curtosy as I don't see him getting the Celtic job yet. As for the Aberdeen job, I would be rather pissed off at him if he went there but, sadly, its looking more and more likely I'm afraid.... I think its time our chairman came forward and put up the reddies for McGhee to play in the transfer market and hopefully entice him to stay away from the finacial black hole that is Sheepland!
  15. I think McGhee will be with us next year....but if not I'd like to see Gary McAllister. Think he done ok with Leeds considering his hands were very much tied, and would give him the chance to prove his worth at the 'Ark. Paul Lambert is also a consideration worth thinking about, but doubt he'd leave Colchester for us. And as for Nijholt, I think he also has merits a mention. He done well with Telstar in Holland, and is now Asst Manager at Austrian champs Red Bull Salzburg and is working under Co Adriaanse which can only be of benefit to him. He would bring a foreign influence and dutch coaching style - plus knowledge of the Dutch market (few more Van Der Gaags out there to be had??) And if he got the job, I think he should get Dyskstra and Vand Der Gaag onboard as his coaching staff!! It's not just Celtic who have their dream line-up!
  16. Unless McGhee is offered the Celtic job - which is looking unlikely at present - I still believe he will be with us next year as I don't think he will take the Aberdeen job. It's not exactly a step up for him, and with the only real diffrences between us and the sheepies being the average attendance. Similar budget, both in Europe and both aim for a top six finish every year. On top of that he has a team he claims can beat anyone in the SPL on their day, and I think he will decide to stick out with us rather than opt for the "new" challenge of managing Aberdeen. Next season he will get his move to the Championship after leading the 'Well to 3rd in the league, the Europa League Group stage and Scottish Cup glory..... ....Can't blame me for wishful thinking!!
  17. Think Celtic will punt The Holy Goalie in the summer allowing Brown to battle it out with Zaluska and that American keeper Cervi they have tied up. That said I'd still take him if Buzz goes. ....but I have a sneaky feeling Buzz will perform a U-turn and sign on for another year. You heard it here first!
  18. Aye he would be a brilliant player for us, but we simply couldn't afford his wages. He is out of contract in the summer and was recently quoted as saying he'd be open to a return to Hearts should Celtic not offer him a new deal - and if he is to leave Celtic, Hearts will be the only likely destination for him if he is to stay in Scotland. Naylor is just stupid talk - he wants a move back to England and no doubt Celtic will be wanting a £1m plus offer for him (and there's his wages!) Sheridan and Caddis are possibilities - but either on loan or if they are released by Celtic, which I doubt will happen. And again their wages could be a major problem. I agree with what you say, but be realistic....the only OF fringe players we will get are the youngsters that have never seen the light of day with the first team - similar to McLean, Buzz, Rosco, etc.

It's only a two year deal with Jaxx as far as I'm aware... Thats wishful thinking anyway! Even though its in the fans charter not to replace the top every season, thats pretty much hows it been since we lost Motorola as our sponsor - with the only exception being the Anglian top that I'm sure was two years. So new strip next year too I'd bet. Wonder if we will get the same drawn put build up as this one?!
  20. Fair enough Jonesy, I do agree to an extent. I just think he is a "real" prospect and has a huge future in front of him. Wigan are keen to sign him to replace the likely deaprting Valencia, and I genuinely think he can do a job for andy mid-table Premiership side. He showed in the recent Scotland games that he has a real confidence about him and I think any club who paid £5m for him now, would be able to sell him for at least double in a few years time. But as you said, its a gamble. Was just posting this to say that it kinda leaves a bitter taste in your mouth, our player from last year is being touted by the Media as a £5m pound man!

Just noticed the attendance for last night - less than 2,200!! I wasn't there cause I was away with my work. That is a poor show, but the club can't complain to much with it being a mid-week bottom 6 game. The fact that regualr gate pricess stood for last night was embarassing! Surely dropping the prices to £10 at least would have pulled in a thousand more or so - which would have been more money for the club if you take into account season tickets. I wonder if the club will take last nights attendance (probably the lowest I've ever know for a competetive Motherwell game at Fir Park) and offer cheap gates for the Kilmarnock game, and try and attract a decent crowd for the final game of the season.
  22. A young pacey 20-plus goal a season Championship striker??? At least £5million! Look at the likes of Chopra and Beattie (both older, less versatile and less goals per appearance) who both fetched £5m fees.
  23. Apologies for pulling up and older thread, but felt this was well worth discusing.... Cardiff slap £5m price tag on McCormack Althought it's the Daily Rancid, there is probably some truth to this - not exactly a slow news day with Rangers screwing up their title hopes last night and all. I think it's a fair valuation and a bit miffed now that we only got £120,000 in compensation when he moved on (although he was out of contract and we had no control over it.) What would you give for a cut of that transfer fee?! Thoughts?
