  1. Went for McGinn, a little surprised by the votes for SOD, very poor for the goal, and Welsh, big mistake in 1st half that should have put us 2-0 down. Admittedly they both played well apart from those big mistakes. On the Slattery debate, he kept showing but man did he give the ball away a lot.
  2. Anyone know how long Fadinger will be suspended for? I think/hope it’s the next 2 league games and that he can play at Pittodrie midweek. Sunday might be tougher if Watt is out as well as Fadinger. Preistman is obviously a very good replacement but who else plays in there? Assume Nicholson, Sparrow or McGhee, unless he brings in Thor and drops Slattery or Just deeper. Whatever we do Faddy will be a big miss.
  3. Yeh, sadly I can’t see them having a pitch inspection at 2:30pm and giving it the go ahead when it’s forecast to rain right through to kick off. Frustrating as I was heading up, but might help us prep better for the next 2 which are huge!
  4. As many have said we were spoilt for choice yesterday. I thought SOD, Just, Fadinger and Slattery were all excellent, but has to be Priestman for me, he’s slotted in like he’s been playing there for us for years, a class act!
  5. Welsh for me, absolutely strolled it tonight.
  6. Just went to buy tickets for this and apparently it’s physical tickets only and they can’t be posted now, so somehow need to get to Fir Park during the day before Wed night. Why does Scottish football make going to games so damn difficult at be times, grrrr.
  7. Great performances from McGinn, Watt and Fadinger but it has to be Welsh for me.
  8. Hope I’m proved wrong but that line up gives me the fear, no natural left back, an aging McGinn at right back, only one of Watt, Fadinger & Slattery, and no real centre forward. We have a decent pool of players now and I know we have a lot of games coming up but swapping out half the team when we’re playing one of the stronger teams in the league seems mad.
  9. Has to be Maswanhise for the 2 first half goals. Mention for Fadinger who was good as usual and Ward who had a good save at 0-0 and dealt well with crosses. Shocked to see Said getting some votes here, thought he terrible and gave the ball away constantly.
  10. Welsh and Slattery in for Gordon and Said. Think I’d have brought Sparrow & Hendry in as well, but maybe doesn’t want to change too much in one go!
  11. Desperately trying to lick wounds today, but is anyone else still a bit in disbelief around how that played out yesterday?! Can’t help but keep thinking, can we play that again today and the real Motherwell turn up….grim
  12. Great post! Bigger picture is top 6 so far, a semi final appearance and a great style of football to watch every week (after less than 20 games in charge). We lacked a physical presence in both boxes yesterday and didn’t get the rub of the green. Whilst 4-1 looks awful the scoreline flatters them massively if you watched the game. As others have said we are 2/3 players away from being a really good team with an attractive style of play. Question is can we find those 2/3 players on our budget, time will tell but it’s much better to watch than Kettlewell or Hammell’s poor teams over recent years.
  13. It’s going to be a big call whichever one is left out. On form you’d probably go with McGinn & Welsh, but against Saints I think we’ll need the height and physique of Gordon!
  14. As others have said, it’s going to be very close and just who turns up best on the day. In terms of team selection I think there there’s really only one debate if SOD’s out, and that’s which 2 from McGinn, Gordon and Welsh play at centre half. I expect to see: Ward, Koutroumbis, McGinn, Gordon & Longelo. Watt, Fadinger, Slattery, Just, Maswanhise & Stamatelopoulos. But wouldn’t be upset if Welsh was in for McGinn or Gordon. Think we might need Gordon’s height and strength in the air against a team that puts the ball in the box regularly.
