  1. Seriously hope that things work out for Casper. If we can get him settled and happy, injury free and fit, then the evidence suggests that there is quality there that could be a real asset going forward. No point in rushing things and hope that when he gets his chance he grabs it.
  2. These sort of games tend to be more about performance than results. We were awful last Saturday so need to see a reaction to that. Our squad are generally both honest and not without ability, so we can reasonably expect an improvement. As it is though, they have a much more expensive (and therefore more talented?) squad, so if they turn it on we could still be on the wrong end of a doing. They do not always turn up though, so we are not going without hope of picking up a point or three. Keep it tight and make smart decisions defensively and when we have the ball and who knows? We certainly have the pace to be a threat on the break to anyone.
  3. Disappointed by the result, but not entirely surprised. Have been a ‘well fan for too long not to know that we are a team who have to take the rough with the smooth. It seems to have been a day when a whole number of factors conspired to confound us. We are a young squad and, as such, inconsistency is always going to be a reality during the season. The key is really how we cope and whether we can bounce back from these sort of results. Looking for a reaction next weekend, though we have a difficult fixture so may have to be about performance rather than any tangible result. ‘Twas ever this.
  4. It would be folly to induct someone who would not see the event as an honour. I am afraid that Mr Boyd has made it clear that he does not hold this club with any level of regard. As such, to offer such an individual the privilege of a place in our Hall of Fame would simply demean the honour and impact badlyon the other, more deserving, recipients. Of course, Mr Boyd may do the honourable thing, and decline. Not holding my breath though.
  5. Hopeful that we can get a win to keep our good run going. The international break has not done us any favours with regard to maintaining our momentum. Still, up to the players and management to be up for the struggle and no reason that we can’t take all three points.
  6. As long as Tom Boyd doesn’t get in.....
  7. Hopefully a successful return to our first team will encourage other bidders. I would love him to sign an extension, but doubt that this is likely now.
  8. Not sure that stability is a viable option in the modern football world. Three defeats and there will be people calling for your sacking. We must learn to survive in a state of constant flux. If players and managers look good, they move up the ladder, if they look crap, they get punted. Ideas such as loyalty are a thing of the past. To stay still in our ever changing environment is to take the chance of eventuallylooking crap for too long and facing the chop.
  9. Good luck to him. Been a stand out performer so nice to see that recognised.
  10. Has the feeling of a significant game for us. Win it and we could do something in the league this year. Lose, like Ross County game, and it looks like inconsistency will put thoughts of a top six finish to bed.
  11. Interesting point. Did not seem to be a concern for the All Black rugby team when they recently selected Sevu Reece for the Rugby World Cup. I wonder if the fact that they win most f the time is s a factor in such decisions?
  12. And Taitie can cover right back. Bit of a no brainer for me.
  13. Like the win at Tynecastle, three points from a visit to Perth is not to be sniffed at. Now, with three of our next four fixtures at Fir Park, let's try and get our home form sorted out.
  14. Can you really blame a young man for taking an opportunity? Good luck to him in his career.
  15. Sadly predictable result. We have to accept a certain amount of inconsistency with the nature of our squad, but it doesn’t diminish the disappointment when a good little run comes to an end in a fixture we considered winnable after previous results. Was it Spike Milligan who coined the phrase” it only happens all the time”?
  16. I think the perceived hope that Hastie fails has to do with the team he joined and the fact that both he and Cadden have left, seem to be doing well, and we have yet to receive a red cent in terms of development fees and or compensation. Cannot really blame individuals for having such thoughts in such circumstances.
  17. A win at Tynecastle? I will take that every day of the week and twice on Sunday, thanks very much! I am more than old enough to remember the period in the eighties and early nineties when we couldn’t buy a win against Hearts. From the game at Tynecastle where a Willie Irvine goal and a Killie thumping of QoS cost them promotion from the old first division (1982?) until the mid nineties I can scarcely recall a good result against that mob. I think we did beat them at Fir Park in the season they lost the league on the final day at Dens, but beyond that, nothing. As it stands, three more points towards safety, and nothing more. We seem to be having our good run ( virtually every team in the league will have one) early this season. Let’s make it last as long as possible.
  18. Indeed. I wish I could get more excited about the national team. All the chat here in NZ is rugby.
  19. The only reason a loan makes sense is to cut costs a little and the fact we could recall him if Gillespie picked up an injury. Cannot see us getting much of a fee for Carson, though anything is better than nothing, and Carson deserves first team football and maybe a good deal at a bigger club.
  20. Goalkeeper situation is a difficult one. What is the point in having the best replacement goalie in the league and then not using them? But has Gillespie done enough wrong to warrant being replaced? Probably not. Carson has been the very definition of professional in his attitude, but you wonder how long he can bide his time when a player of his quality needs first team football. Surely a loan move would make sense for all parties?
  21. No harm in getting a lesson at this, or indeed any, level. As long as the lesson is learned. A shame that we will go no further in this competition as I really enjoyed our decent run last season, but the key with this team is really about developing players for the future.
  22. So basically the Polis will do nothing because there are too many Old Firm fans and they therefore don’t want the hassle involved. Because of this, the said Old Firm fans have carte blanche to do as they please. No wonder they turn out to be such entitled tossers.
  23. Well that wasn’t really unexpected. We will get fitter and better organised so no need to push the panic button just yet. Also proves that a series of European qualifiers are better build up for the season than the League Cup group stages. Again, hardly a surprise.
  24. So what happens when a Motherwell fan finds himself in the wrong part of the ground at Celtic Park or Ibrox? If identified, they get shown the door. I remember a tale about Dougie Arnott’s father being thrown out of Ibrox after celebrating his son scoring, and he was in the main stand with a complimentary ticket specifically for player’s family and friends. The same rules should app,y for our round. They shouldn’t be there, they are creating a potentially dangerous situation, they should be asked to leave, when that doesn’t happen, they should be helped out, and if they react to this, they should be arrested. Corporate clients should be advised that the same rules apply to them. If they and their guests cannot behave in an acceptable manner then they cannot expect different treatment from our other customers.
