  1. The season we won the championship under Davie Hay was fun, playing very attractive football and scoring goals as if it were going out of fashion. The other seasons were best forgotten. For what it is worth, I can see why some would enjoy the novelty of playing regularly against some different teams as the monotony that a small league brings with playing the "same old same old" is exhibited clearly in the Premiership. However, that novelty would soon wear off and the financial hit does not bare thinking about. Unlike the likes of Hibs, I cannot see our crowds increasing just because we are winning more regularly in a lower division.
  2. Was getting a bit worried with all the Jim Duffy chat until someone mentioned the possibility of Barry Ferguson. If that is the standard we are looking to bring in then the decision to get rid of Mark McGhee will come back and bite us on the arse, big time. Things did not go his way, but I reckon McGhee is a decent manager and a decent man and I wish him all the best for the future.
  3. Great result. Onwards, and hopefully upwards, from here!
  4. When he first became manager he had a great run of games before the infamous pitch invasion fixture with Rangers. I am pretty sure we had not lost a goal under him until then. I think we then went out of the cup the following midweek in a rearranged tie against Queens Park. The wheels well and truly came off! Just another reason to hate and despise Rangers. RIP and my thoughts are with his family and friends.
  5. Almost a game we can discount as it seems so improbable we will take anything else from it beyond a hiding. Setting ourselves up to try and keep things tight seems pointless given we cannot defend. Perhaps we should start a couple of our youngsters with the hope that they gain something from the experience? With the caveat that we can replace them if things are not going for them. Seems more sensible than throwing them on when we are three or four down.
  6. Baraclough was worse. So was the half season with Bobby Watson, though he inherited so much crap from Jock Wallace I don't really blame him as an individual. We are not relegated yet. We have enough decent players and staff to get us out of this mess and at least survive for another season. After that? A major rebuilding job in the close season, as usual. I've said it before, I doubt there has been a time when the manager's job at a club of outsize has been so difficult.
  7. The worst performance ever. Or at least since the last one. Being a Well fan was never mean't to be easy. Celtic at the weekend should be fun!
  8. Key will be how our midfield goes about supplying and supporting Moult. I am not convinced about him playing the lone striker role and we will more than likely need a goal or two to take anything from this game. COYW!
  9. Anything from this fixture is a bonus, even a half decent performance. I think we will get the performance, but end up on the wrong side of a two one defeat. No more red cards please.
  10. Indeed. His personality on the park can seem petulant at times, but there can be little doubt about his general effort and commitment to the cause. Long may it continue! He will be very difficult to replace whenever he does leave.
  11. I'd like to think that McDonald is professional enough to continue to give his all and see out his contract. The alternative of a disgruntled player working his ticket is a waste of a salary and bad for everyone concerned. It is a balancing act and there is a fine line between being easy deal with and being a soft touch.
  12. Great three points. Got to somehow keep it going though. Our next four games are against teams above us in the league so won't be easy. Three or four points from those would probably be acceptable before a run of games where, hopefully, we can pick up more points.
  13. Would the Skippy move involve a fee? He has been very good for us and, in a perfect world, if he wants to go, he deserves to be allowed to leave if he wants to return home. Having said that, he is a vital part of our team and not easy to replace at this juncture. His staying could very well be the difference between us remaining in the division and going down. He will be away in the summer. Hopefully that will be enough for him.
  14. They are definitely beatable. Hopefully the manager has been taken off suicide watch and can send out a team with the necessary ambition to do the job.
  15. While a draw at home in a game against a rival from "our part of the league" is not great, it really is too early to see it as points dropped or thrown away. All very tight between sixth and twelfth so another point to our total is not a disaster. We kept a clean sheet and created enough chances. Onwards and upwards (hopefully).
  16. We need to get decent money for our best players, so that rules out them. To be honest, if he keeps developing, Cadden could do a lot better than a move to the h**s.
  17. Very disappointed by the result, which has to be a good thing. We should never be happy with a loss, especially at home. This takes nothing away from a spirited performance, it just grates to score three against them and walk away with nothing. Plenty of positives to build on though but we are at the stage where this has to be backed up in the next two or three matches. Do that and we will pick up points and move towards safety, which has to be our priority this season. Really hope that, going forward, the likes of McHugh and a returning Pearson, can make a difference.

I generally think that anything around fifty percent success rate with new signings is pretty good for a manager. The problem now is the transfer window as, in the past, a player who was not cutting the mustard could be quickly and quietly moved on whereas now they have to wait it out and then have only limited time to get sorted in a period of frenetic activity when loads of guys are looking for new clubs and contracts. Just another change to the transfer/contract situation that doesn't really seem to work in favour of a club our size.
  19. A shit draw, but what the hell, let's give it our best shot. That is the beauty of the cup, after all?
  20. Hoping for a win, but would accept a point right now. Also agree with those who suggest the same line up as last weekend. They deserve another crack after a good performance and great result.
  21. Sounded shite on Mixlr. Early in the season but things cannot continue like this if we want to stay up. Feel sorry for the youngsters as a struggling team is a difficult place to start making your way in the professional game.
  22. Good to see the two youngsters continuing to get a run. We could really do with the three points so hopeful that we can carry the day with a two nil victory.
  23. Never happy with a defeat, but we have had worse weekends when we have had an away trip to Parkhead. Good to see that a good few youngsters made the squad and the manager thought that a few were worthy of actually getting a bit of valuable game time.
  24. Can see nothing but a bit of a hiding from this fixture. If we keep it tight and play well, the best we can hope for is say a two nil defeat. If we give it a bit of a go, we mY lose four two. I say give it a lash, you never know.
  25. As soon as it wa mentioned that we would go second if we won, I knew we were in for a hiding. Been Hereford and this always seems to be he way it goes. McGhee needs to stop mucking around with clever tactics and find the best and simplist formation that works for our limited squad. That probably means four four two and it requires a change in goal.
