  1. I’m hoping there’s some work going on behind the scenes to get Gent and Vale back here, one way or another, for next season.
  2. I also find all the talk about Theo very interesting. Cue start of season and the guy was being written off before he had kicked a ball. I confess I was also a doubt but I wasnt on slating him. I feel we are far too early to judge players though I guess all clubs are the same. Vale was criticised before signing and looking now like Halliday will be the next boo boy, it takes time for players to settle so let's all give them a chance. Remember.....shouting and booing a player is hardly going to help their confidence. At same time , I hope Bair signs new extension and stays but just my opinion only but if offered £750k it's great business but I would try and get £1,000,000. COYW
  3. Terrible game of football. Thought we started brightly enough and created a couple of decent chances but it dropped off quickly and the goal we lost was typical of the mistakes we have been making all season. That gave St Mirren something to defend and we really didnt look like we had it in us to unlock their defence. Bair was awful yesterday and looked more like the player we had at the start of the season than the guy who was unplayable against Rangers. It was a real shock when he actually got across his man to score the equaliser. Tactically, I thought SK had it all wrong yesterday. Vale and Spittal are 2 of our better performers and they were rendered somewhat impotent by where they were deployed (and having Vale so wide left Bair isolated. Im definitely still in the keep SK camp, but once again his tactics and in game management were up for question. Ultimately a point isnt bad in the circumstances but it was in spite of everything, not because of it.
  4. I felt sorry for Bair and Vale today. Theo has had better games but he did score the equaliser. Suffered greatly from poor service and lack of a strike partner. Also felt sorry for Vale. He was played far too deep and didn't really link up with Bair. Agree 100% about the defence. I had the fears when the line up was announced. We can get by with one full back in it, preferably McGinn, but not two. I thought that formation had been binned and rightly so. From start to finish we looked vulnerable in the air. Can only assume that Blaney wasn't fit enough to start. Hopefully we'll never see SOD and McGinn both play in central defence together ever again unless it's a dire emergency.
  5. Nope. We got peak Kev in his last season. Given his age and his normal goal scoring form of single digit seasons, I never wanted him back. Just bask in his record breaking season and look forward to the next Kev we uncover. I'd be happier if we kept Vale for next season.
  6. Can only repeat what everyone else has said. Vale up top with Bair. He is a striker so why is SK playing him deeper. Gent fires in low crosses all the time but never any takers. Or is it worth starting Moses in central role and give him say 55 mins?
  7. This all day long. We need to ditch the weird formation and get our best players playing in their best positions. Vale is great with his back to goal and holding the ball up and playing others in. Bair is better running in behind. Davor runs around and breaks shit up. Miller and Spittal are both best at controlling the tempo and picking a pass. Gent is great at beating his man and driving crosses across the 6 yard box. Just do that. And if the defence could maybe not chuck any in our own net that would be grand!
  8. A deserved win last night and an important one. Wherever we end up, it won't be in 12th spot. I've been critical of SK in the past, but I wouldn't blame him for last night's team selection. Both Vale and Gent were running on empty after Sunday and looked as if they'd taken knocks. Maybe a controversial suggestion but could Obika have started in place of Nicholson and been subbed at half time; but thats being wise in hindsight. Livingston scored the obligatory goal and fortunately it came very early; early enough in fact to allow us to recover. As against Celtic, we defended too deeply but still left gaps to be exploited. After a 14 minute spell of high pressing, Livi then decided to sit back and defend their single goal lead; that was on Martindale. I thought their gameplan was working pretty well and we could learn lessons from them. We did however fashion some chances from crosses which we failed to convert. Their big back line defended deeply and their strikers / midfield fought for everyting and defended 40 yards out. They swarmed around our our wide men and made it hard for us to get anywhere near goal. Bair was left isolated (hence my Obika comment). Our midfield struggled to create anything and was forced back anytime they tried to advance much over the halfway line. Plenty of possession but no penetration. SK transformed the second half with the introduction of the lively Vale for the out of touch Davor. We then began to play some nice footie and started to hit the byline. Just after the break Nicholson notched his first goal for us to be followed by Spittal and Vale. All well taken goals. Late on we saw the appearance of Gent, Blaney and Obika and saw the game out well. Overall a good team performance, Livi's early goal and our defending apart. We played some nice football as well. So SK and SK deserve credit for getting it right on the night, as do the players. I thought Livi were overly physical and niggly and very streetwise. Just what you'd expect. I thought John Beaton let them off with a lot - play acting, niggles, timewasting. One absurd incident summed it up for me. We were awarded a free kick and were about to place the ball, when a Livi player grabbed it and then threw it about 10 yards away, right under the ref's nose. Surely a yellow card; no action taken. A good night all round though. A final word of credit to the Well Bois, Block E, East Stand Collective(?). Pyros apart (thats another issue), they sang and drummed all night and created atmosphere. Well done lads.
  9. Vale beside Bair please, not behind him. Not confident about this one as Aberdeen seem to know how to beat us this term, with us holding on for a draw after being 3 up last time out at Pittodrie. They may also have a new manager bounce, if there is such a thing.
  10. I agree with most of that. Not convinced by Davor though, but thats balanced by Paton, who has done a job. To be fair, he's brought in some decent loan signings: Vale, Gent, Spencer, and Biereth, although he got his fingers burnt with the latter two. Halliday? I just don't know,. I wasn't as concerned as many when he first signed but he hasn't really worked out. Now is that down to lack of fitness or his legs going? Maybe a bit of both. I just hope SK knows. Midfield is an area we definitely need to strengthen for next season.
  11. His drop in form might be down, in part, to the formation SK is fielding. Move Vale up beside Bair and slip Spittal in behind them.
  12. Shit season. Biereth going was a kick in the baws. If he had stayed we would have made top 6. But great Bair done so well. And Gent and Vale. If we keep all 3 plus miller it looks like next season will be better. Prefer we don't re sign Kelly and get commanding goalie. Not bothered about losing Spittal too. Think he won't replicate that form and jambos don't give much time. I think Danda will be Thier main creative player.
  13. Kelly O'Donnell McGinn Casey Blaney Gent Miller Zdravkovski Spittal Vale Bair
  14. Would have taken a point before the game, but that really is a disappointing capitulation at 3-0 up. Our game management is shocking and we seem to lose the same types of goal over and over again. Im not sure if its uncertainty over Kelly, lack of communication or just a lack of desire to take responsibility to defend your area, but the goals we lose always seem to be really poor. That said, we played some really good football at times, scored some good goals, and might have sneaked it at the end if hadnt been for a stupid push by Butcher. Thought Vale looked a real handful on his first start. Has a good first touch and a bit of pace. Looking forward to seeing how he develops. Gent and Devine were both very good going forward, not so good coming back the way, particularly Devine who got a bit of a roasting from Duk. It was pretty pleasing that Duk didnt get much of a sniff after SOD came on after Stevie Tosh dissed him so much on coming on. It was the only sub that SK made that I really agreed with. Bringing Nicholson on I guess made sense, but I wouldnt have taken Davor off as it left us weaker at the back. Obika for Vale was also such a poor substutution as it rendered 2 up front practically useless due to Obika having no pace whatsoever. I get Vale had run his race and is still short of match fitness, but I didnt feel any of our subs (other than SOD) improved what was happening on the park. Overall, we have kept our noses ahead of Aberdeen, gone above Hibs and gained a point on Ross County. Not the worst day at the office. Just could have been so much better.
  15. The Rancid is reporting that SK is trying to fix up Georgie Gent and Jack Vale for next season. I hope he can pull that off ,but fear its a pipedream. .

Evening Folks Has definitely been a season full of up's and downs yet we still have a chance of Top 6 which is incredible. We are surely safe now as Ross Co would need to win 3 and draw 1 of last 6 games and us to get hee haw points. However in my opinion one thing that can't be disputed is the togetherness and close knit squad we have. You just need to look at the celebrations for the goals. From experienced pros like SOD, McGinn, Kelly.....to new signings Davor....Bair and Halliday to the loanees Gent and Vale and of course the other lads. They obviously like playing for Kettlewell and even when we were on a terrible run there certainly wasn't disharmony ( cue that Ross Co side we pumped 5-0) The interaction with fans and their genuine affection for the club is great to see. Let's get a big support on Saturday and give them all the encouragement we can. Yes it's still a big ask to reach top 6 but if anyone had offered you that in mid January you would have thought they were bonkers COYW
  17. Hopefully with the new investment coming in to the club we can maybe afford 1 or 2 better players for next season. If we sell Miller this summer we should be looking for upwards of the Turnbull fee as he's a great prospect. The squad needs a fair bit of surgery in my opinion. Only players I'd be desperate to keep are Bair, Miller and Vale made permanent. Spittal would be here but off to Hearts. Would be surprised if they didn't all receive far more appealing financial offers. Definetley need a overhaul in Defence and Midfield who knows maybe Kettlewell will even change formation. Either way hopefully we get into the top 6 and manage to sneak into 5th for a wee European tour next season.
  18. I’d really like to see Gent and Vale both back here playing next season. Both are pretty handy and always put in a good shift. Players who have some skill and put in a shift are like gold dust to teams like us.
  19. I suspect we'll keep Nicholson, SOD, Bevis and McGinn. Would like to see if we could get Gent or Vale back but I would be surprised if we did.
  20. vale is a hard grafting baller
  21. Exactly, we should be trying to set up our possible “target” players so that we can at least get some sort of money when they leave. Surely we can come to some sort of agreement with them regarding contract extensions versus offers from other teams? Would love to keep Gent and Vale but not sure what that would take and wouldn’t be surprised if they already have good offers lined up for next season already or under discussion.
  22. On and off the park it’s going to be an interesting time I for one am looking forward to see what’s in store for us. McGinn I hope signs a new contract and would make him Captain also Kelly can leave think we can get the same what he offers on much less money. Butcher and Obika can leave they offer us nothing at this point if they signed on again it’s throwing money away. Will be sad to see the Blackburn guys go think Vale and Gent have been fantastic for us sadly I can see clubs coming in with offers for them.
  23. Give this man is job in recruitment Completely with you. We need A keeper who commands his 6 yard box would make a huge difference. Central defender who won the first ball and organised us. Centre Mid by the name of Alan Campbell would be awesome . We've got too many journey men and most can leave. Our better signings have been loanees - the likes of Gent and Vale - more like this please. Ideally sign them but if not another season loan would be great.
  24. Vale played well when he dropped back into midfield. I'd be tempted to start him there next week.
  25. Yep what you say about miller was the change as wee davor in that position cant kick the ball more than 10 yards so when our full backs pushed on he couldnt find them, miller could and did. Vale coming on was great he roamed about all across the pitch inbetween their defense and midfield and going beyond them sometimes and their defenders didnt know where he was. !st half wasnt as bad as being made out I felt. we were in control easily but as only bair up top they were comfortable but we had something like 75% posession so all this about 1st half being terrible is wide of the mark. Gent in for devine on saturday with miller and davor and spittal and vale behind bair for me with nicholson coming on later on for davor when hopefully we are still in game. Last night worried me a bit when seeing the bench as there was not a midfielder on it. if Miller got injured again we have no one to play there. Anyway a good night where we dispatched Livi relatively easy and all the martindale will know how to set up against us chat was proved to be what it was and that is he is a crap manager and they are bottom of league for a reason. Onwards and upwards.
