What I'm saying about the seeding is that whether you like it or not, there's no point in worrying about it because our history shows it has made little (if any) difference to our progress in the competition.

Personally, I think that by the time you reach the knockout stages in a cup competition there should be no seeding, but others may disagree. I'm not even a fan of the best runners up, tbh, but we just have to get on with it and keep winning.

The only purpose of the seeding is to keep the Ugly sisters apart till the final, as the SFA /SPFL do all in their power to pander to them its a feckin nonsense.

As far as I can tell the seeds are the 5 Euro teams plus  Hearts, StJ and Partick.

Open draw after the round of 16 is it not?
So they have to use the hot and cold or rough and smooth ball ploy to keep them apart

I care who we draw because I want us to have a good cup run.

No doubt it’ll be Celtic or Rangers home or away, or else Hearts at Tynecastle and that will be that for us.

If we draw Alloa at home you will still have us down for a 3-0 defeat 🤪🤪

Well Alloa have knocked us out of the League Cup once before so…

But in all honesty I would not trust Motherwell to win ANY Cup tie regardless of who the opposition is. I would though prefer us to have the easiest game on paper to give us the best chance.

Celtic get Falkirk, Rangers get Alloa.   Yea not fixed at all.   Happens far too often

And how do they fix it for that to happen? Considering that Aberdeen, Hearts, Hibs and Dundee Utd were all seeded so they couldn’t have drawn any of them so that limits the sides they could have drawn.

But “hot/cold balls”!?!?….Really? Does anyone seriously, SERIOUSLY believe that nonsense? Because if there is anyone who does then I would love to hear how you think that that works and how the Scottish football authorities could pull that off without giving anything away…???

It's just tongue in cheek, I don't genuinely think it's rigged, they do however always get jammy draws a lot

8 times out of the last 10 years at this stage Rangers have avoided a Premiership team.

I didn’t think your response was anything other than tongue in cheek to be honest. But the post I quoted appeared to imply that the draw was fixed for Celtic and Rangers to get the easiest draws possible.

And I’m asking how they think that that is possible. Given that there have been so many individuals who have helped conduct these draws and given that if there genuinely had been any kind of ‘foul play’ then none of it would have been leaked onto social media in some way or other?

It just sounds like alot of nonsense to me. Alot of “boo-hoo that’s no fair but ah canny really show how it’s no fair” whinging to me.

And guys like Chris Sutton and Neil Lennon etc who have been involved in conducting the draw over that time have helped Rangers avoid a Premiership team somehow? Yeah?

The way things are seeded in the last 16 now, with typically 5 or 6 lower league non-seeds every year, you're more likely to draw one (unless your us, of course).

Even this year there was a 50/50 chance of matching up with a lower league team.

(I agree that it would be easy to fix if you wanted to).

I wouldn't need much convincing, however,  that the warm and cold balls was happening in the 70s.
