He's always shown good technique and pace. Just needs more composure to finish. He's best we have up front.

"he's always shown good technique and pace" you and I watch a different player.  His technique is very erratic. Watch him in the shooting practice before the game which invariably does not improve during a game. He has been murder since April. No one will be happier than me if he rediscovers his form of this time last year but I'm willing to bet he won't.

The big question for me is what level of man management does he need to get the best from him .

He’s  clearly got talent and when confidence is high has scored a lot , and some exceptional goals .

but it seems that a lot of work is required to bring that out - JBA managed it well - but it shouldn’t always be up to the manager .

suspect that’s  why no one signed him and unless he hits form he really should be dropped - albeit not for Thor

The problem with dropping JT is who do you play in his place that will

a) work harder than him

b) provide more of a goal threat

The way we set up with SPH thru the middle, we need goal threat from the wider areas and midfield.

Ibbie gives us that from midfield and Kanga is starting to look like he might be the answer on the left. However, our options on the right are JT, Sparrow or Willy Vogt!

I know he hasnt been producing the goods goal wise for a long time, and I have been critical of him. But he does his defensive duties in respect of covering the fullback, albeit his tackling is pretty poor.

I wouldnt be against playing Sparrow in front of McGhee or Johnnie K, but he isnt going to provide much of a goal threat.

Anything less than a win is unacceptable. My concern, though, is that a win will paper over the cracks and buy Alfred more time, only for it to come back to bite us in the medium term. He’s absolutely shite, and delaying the inevitable will only make things worse.

So if he wins its a bad thing and if he loses its bad too...thats a  clear and obvious goal, hopefully u dont do team talks anytime.

and what ?? he's been pish since April. What he did before that is immaterial in judging his contribution to the team just now. Christ Jake Hastie was on fire for 3 months, didn't stop him being utter pish. Thats not to say he wont hit the heights again but if you were judging him on his contribution this season he should have been on the bench a lot longer than he was.

And that proves he’s more than capable of scoring goals are our level.
I agree his form hasn’t been great, however hes still young, this first professional club and he’s going to come in and out of form. I think we need to support him and look at how we best set the team up to get him in the box more often.

Hoping to see a few tweaks to the starting line up.

Alfreds hands have been tied to an extent with injuries and fitness levels. But we must be getting to the stage where Kanga can start and be subbed around 60 minutes if he doesnt have 90 in him.

With Fadinger back, Id also like to see Jordan McGhee keep his place either at RCB or RB.

He is clearly a good player and his experience will hopefully help settle the backline.

Im not as down on Sparrow as some, albeit I do accept his defensive deficiencies, but taking him out of the firing line and using his energy as an impact sub could be useful imho.

I dont think its a must win in terms of our season. But for Alfred it kinda is purely due to the pressure building and the proximity of the international break.

My lineup would be......

                      Paulsen

McGhee   JKL   Moorman  Longelo

                Fadinger Hodge

                           Said

Maswanhise    SPH      Kanga

Hopefully Oscar, McGinn and Hendry can make the bench for some minutes later on once the game is won!

Not far off what I’d go with! McGhee at right back is a good shout. I’m still not sure if JKL is a better option than JGR but maybe with more game time he can prove it! Without Lowery and Preistman that front 6 should be a given in my opinion.
