That Old Chestnut - Do We Move Or Do We Stay
Goggles & Flippers replied to Kmcalpin's topic in Club Chat
Something like a stadium move isn’t one for an executive board of a fan owned club alone, how can it be? It’s just as pivotal if not more so than a chancer trying to get control for the cost of two empty ginger bottles. Where we’ll be playing football in ten years time will fully determine the direction and potential fortunes of this club for the rest of its existence. We’re sitting on over 18m euros in transfer income In three years, sell JT as expected and we’re up over €20m. It’s unprecedented and truly transformational. I’d flip the question round. Those reluctant to move, at what point do our coffers have to be swelled to before you get on board? -
Did someone (weeyin?) mention that the game was on live from some streaming service? if so, can they post the details here again? thanks!
-
Ive bought tickets for the POD stand tonight so i'll give my verdict from Wishaw General when they are stitching up my legs!!!!!!!!!! Id love to think we can do something with the current footprint and stay at Fir Park!!!!!!!
-
Hopefully Watt and Just get bigger moves after this season amd we have good add ons tied onto their fees.
-
I might disagree with you about which option to choose but you're 100% right about this. We can't afford to dither and swither much longer. I'd also hope the fans will be consulted.
-
And so they should. That is exactly the issue here, that both were punished for telling it like it was was utterly ridiculous. And as I’ve already said I want us to question why our player was given a straight 4 game ban while McInnes got 3 with one suspended.
-
Is that your guess or is that what Ross Hunter said? 🤣🤣
-
I'm thoroughly enjoying this conversation, especially the insight provided by yourself Mr G&F, kudos to you for this 👌 My personal preference would be to remain at Fir Park, and I don't necessarily see this as a sticking plaster, but it absolutely have to be "done right" or it would rapidly turn into a disaster. It's surely possible to build something to be proud of in the footprint of the existing POd, encompassing the necessary corporate facilities and the other value-adding amenities discussed throughout this thread. Likewise the John Hunter. Whilst this currently has a very tight footprint, much of the land behind already belongs to the club (apologies if I'm talking bollocks), the problem lies with the school grounds... A school which is roughly 120 years old and surely due a massive refit/rebuild/relocation(!) which takes me to the local authority. I'd *love* to think that a fan-owned Community Club would matter a lot to the local authority and that the 2 would work collectively towards the same goal. A successful football club brings money into the area and helps put the place on the map, so positive collaboration should be a no-brainer. However, unless things have changed dramatically in the past decade or so, I think MFC is way down the list of any focus and/or priority of NLC. Moving elsewhere, and I can't think of anywhere other than Ravenscraig, will mean not only dealing with NLC, but (as other's have said) many others into the bargain... This gives me the absolute fear. It's also hard to imagine us getting anything other than a St Mirren Park affair stuck in the middle of a brownfield site where the existing amenities already seem dated. It also feels like 5-7 years away even if papers were signed today. One thing's certain, we need a decision a plan, and good communication of both in the very near future.

I can genuinely only guess half the starting XI Paulsen Sparrow Girdwood-Reich? Moormann Williams? Preistman Fadinger Whyte? Ross Hunter? Said If RCC is fit he'll be in over Hunter.

Motherwell vs Havnar Bóltfelag (23/7) Discussion

Excellent words, this is exactly my thoughts too We most definetly need to be treating these games as a chance to raise the profile of Motherwell Football Club to an even higher level - Today
-
I'm preparing for the game tonight as best I can with a tea of pickled herring, just to get in the mood.
-
Maswanhise missed Not sure what list hes on though
-
With games like this, we just need to hope we have enough at this early stage to get us across the line. We're always going to be up against it playing such an important tie this early, but it is what it is. We know how it works. Hopefully we have the quality to overcome what will absolutely be a gulf in match fitness and sharpness.
-
Tonight should be seen as being a big game for us and not simply as being a bonus or Euro jolly as it has been in the past. We should be trying to move on as a club. Its a rare chance to raise the club's profile; bring in extra cash through prize money and gates; and sustain the momentum from last season with the support. Its a chance to move up a level and we should treat it as such.
-
I'm sure a decent percentage of that goes to his former club, but still a very good fee for a player regardless.
-
Not that we would have disclosed it either.
-
Plus add ons! 😉
-
Undisclosed at Swansea's request apparently, but it is being reported at around £6.3 - £6.5m.
-
That's Eli fully confirmed as gone, great bit of business. I'm looking forward to the Just v Turnbull local derby!
-
No one is not siding with McInnes because he is now Rangers manager. Well, Im certainly not. I think players and managers should be able to give their opinion on decisions after the game. In fact most are contractually obliged to. The issue here, for me anyway, is punishment. McInnes has got a more lenient punishment despite going in stronger on the decision than Watt did. I think both punishments are ridiculous. But they should at least reflect the alleged offence committed.
-
In terms of fit first team players are we saying: Paulsen Connelly Sparrow Moorman Girdwood-Reich Williams Wilson Priestman Fadinger Whyte Ross Said Vogt With injuries to: Mcginn Odonnell Longelo JK Mcghee Cook Eythor Stama Hendry The more I look at that the more concerned I get about tonight! 😞

Motherwell vs Havnar Bóltfelag (23/7) Discussion

Apparently Paulsen started life as an outfield player..... -
He could probably do a job at right back, to be fair.
-
Interestingly, Rangers are appealing McInnes' ban. I'd be interested to see how that goes.
-
It feels like we’re at the stage where it wouldn’t even be a surprise if Matty took his gloves off and played outfield.
