As far as I can see there are two paths this summer: first Askou goes and we cash in on the players we have before a new manager can come in I.e Just, maswanhise, Watt move on. Secondly if Askou stays we looks to keep 2/3 of those players (likely Just and Watt as both have a club option of an extra year). plently of players to be moved on in any case, of those expiring in the summer I’d keep Slattery if possible and everyone else can go. Henry, Charles-Cook and Robinson will likely be on a good wage and can ideally move on.

Welsh will probably be looking for a new club and the certain pay cut that that brings as i dont think he has a future at Celtic, so a deal to keep him at Fir park might be within our budget. Assuming of course he has no offers from England or anywhere else offering more money than we can afford, time will tell.

I would sell Cooke, Hendry and JT if we get offered at least £3 million. Ox, Gordon, Halliday, Robinson, Slattery i think will be off also and Welsh will return to Sellik but would love it if we could get some kind of deal for him
-
There will 100% be interest in Just , Watt and Twanda , albeit the money offered for Twanda might have dropped quite a bit
-
Hendry has offered nothing so far. Is that due to injury, who knows? But like Cook seems to be injury prone. Squad players at best. We need to improve on our 1st eleven and those in it currently can be our squad backup. Only way to move forward. If Gordon cant get a game over aging right backs then its probably time for him to move on to get regular playing time. Nicholson. Depends on his wages but he will never be more than backup. Halliday is probably a good guy to have around but given he has not featured even in emergencies he aint going to play. Coaching role? Depends if he wants to drop down a division and keep playing. Slattery will chase the money and Welsh will go back as you said. Robinson has not kicked a ball in a season and half?? He might get back fit but to what level? The jury was out on him prior to injury and i cant see how that improves going forward. Ox will move for first team football and good luck to him! So almost every position bar right back needs additions. Could be a busy summer. Hopefully Jens commits to us next season and allows us to chase our targets and bring them in early. For talk about physicality and height. We need to remember we still have the best defence in league and dont lose many games. All that with apparent weaknesses! Getting technically gifted giants will be challenging. Players who can actually cross a ball or hit a dead ball would be nice. Probably players who can run with the ball at pace is also a must. Going to be interesting how we continue our project.

Whats our current thinking on ins and outs in the summer? My personal view is: Oxborough: transfer out or loan Wilson: will leave either permanently or on loan Gordon: will leave at the end of his contract Welsh: will return to Celtic Slattery: will move on Halliday: will move on Robinson: will move on Nicholson: will move on. That clears the decks quite a bit and leaves a few gaps to fill in the squad, especially in defence and midfield. It would pare down our squad to about 19. Our striking department also needs strengthening. Our first 11 isn't too bad but we do lack quality in depth. Overall, we need more height and physicality in the squad as we've found out to our cost recently. That could be difficult to source as big physical players who can play a bit don't come cheap. In addition to that I'd also try to move on Charles Cook and Hendry although that might not be easy. Others like Just, JT, and Watt may also attract interest and move - who knows? Finally, lets get Olly Whyte's contract extended.

You're a legend.

Not surprisingly, our stonewall penalty incident was not selected for inclusion in the highlights. This is where the role of the Compliance Office is random and unsafe. When the post was first announced years ago, it was stated that evidence would be used from a variety of sources but in practice it wasn't. It was limited to the Compliance Officer's staff watching TV highlights on a Monday morning and referring anything that was flagged up by programme editors. In effect the media became judge and jury and we all know we can't trust the media to be fair and objective.

MJC is a troll, posting negative shite about Motherwell or rousing defences of his or her big team to extract a reaction, its a public forum so everyone is entitled to their opinions, but in my experience its best to ignore these posts as there is nothing to be gained in starting a debate, dont feed the trolls..

You can't really expect us to keep up the ultra high standards all season, all teams go thru a bit of a slump this seems to be ours starting with the cup exit and hopefully ending next week. Hearts are on a bit of a downward spiral as well now. It's a long season you know and not over til the last game.

Maybe we are to Hearts, as Falkirk are to us? 🤔🤔🤔

Nuance & perspective are wonderful things! Clearly JBA isnt a Motherwell legend (yet), but he deserves a little more credit than he is being afforded in some quarters. The number of draws we got in the first quarter of the season were a little disappointing given how well we played at times, but they were achieved by a manager and team trying to bed in new players and a totally new system. Mistakes were made and a few wins slipped out of our grasp. Disapppointing but understable. However, we did slowly improve and after the League Cup semi final exit (reaching Hampden seems to have been turned into a negative) we seemed to have unlocked the secret to a water tight defence and results improved. Our record against the top 6 is held up as a weakness this season. Yet we are undefeated against Hearts, have drawn twice against Rangers at home, lost narrowly at Ibrox after a hotly disputed penalty claim. Beaten Celtic resoundingly at Fir Park, lost twice narrowly at Parkhead in keenly contested matches, unbeaten against Hibs home & away. Only Falkirk have got the better of us. So our poor record is actually a myth if you turn it around and ask what the top 6 teams record against Motherwell is. The Aberdeen Cup game was a sore one and Jens has to hold his hands up a little for the starting selection, but the the state of the pitch, weather and 2 red cards are at least mitigating factors. We have broken all sorts of records this season with least goals conceded at home, clean sheets records, longest home run without a defeat, attendances etc etc. Of course the wheels have come off a little bit and you could argue that the pressure of being involved in a potential title race got to us, but you have to factor in the recent injuries, suspensions and some really chronic refereeing decisions. Has Jens been perfect? No. Have the team been perfect? No. But whilst our deficiencies have been shown up in recent weeks, its still the best season I can remember for quality of football and entertainment, and we are still sitting with a GD of +25 in April. Picking holes in an otherwise fantastic season is easy to do and if you ignore the circumstances, you can make a compelling case, but just as circumstances can fall for you, they can also conspire against you, despite you having control over neither.

All forums are like this. I read a lot of them. Celtic won the league by beating Motherwell Celtic lost the league against Dundee United. Iheanacho couldn't score in a barrel of.....worst signing of all time Goal: Iheanacho

Poster something I have not been called before. I just wish I had said JBA was rank rotten, would have got less coverage. This forum defies belief. Been brilliant to watch all season but minute we go on a bad run its back to reality

Sometimes I like to ride bareback through the fields with the wind in my hair. Only when the mood takes me though.

Have you got any other hobbies?

Confident we won’t lose this one - we’ll get at least a point . Basing this on how well we’ve faced up to Hearts this season. Hoping we can freshen a few things up and ideally get all 3 points . Edge closer to cementing 4th spot .

I think it’s you who is trying to make something of nothing. I will say it again, this has been a very good season and JBA has been very good for us, surpassing all expectations. Obviously he is not perfect but we are never going to have the perfect manager. A poster earlier in the thread described him as a legend, which I completely disagree with because he hasn’t been here anywhere near long enough and we don’t yet know how this season is going to pan out. We might still get Europe, we might not but whatever happens it will still have been a good season. It’s just that it could have been even better.

In the context of how good we’ve been in the league this season, one point from the last 12 is garbage.

Ewan Wilson can't get a game for Raith, but he'll get a winners medal today - 4-1 up on Inverness in the Challenge Cup final.

I've had this feeling for a while now that it will be us that wrecks Hearts title challenge. Whether it's next week or post split remains open to conjecture.

I'll be rooting for the Pars to knock them out for these reasons.
