I've had this feeling for a while now that it will be us that wrecks Hearts title challenge. Whether it's next week or post split remains open to conjecture.
-
I'll be rooting for the Pars to knock them out for these reasons.
-
Ward McGhee Welsh McGinn Longelo Priestman Watt Fadinger Just Eythor Maswinhise That's the best team we can put on the pitch.
-
Leonard now suspended following today's red card.
-
True. Personally, I hope they don't. Their fans seem to have a real problem with Motherwell, whether they're greetin about getting relegated at Fir Park, being refused promotion while we stayed up, or (as I read today) their keeper getting sent off in 1992 for mouthing off about a Falkirk free-kick that turned into a shy (immediately followed by a goal) for us. I suppose they had plenty of time to seethe in the lower divisions.

Garbage is what we watched last season, ok we’ve been poor the last couple of games - mainly due to not adapting to teams pushing up on us and some slack passing - but garbage? Think you need to get a bit of perspective mate.
-
Before my time, but Bobby Ancell would probably qualify as a legend to most older fans.
-
Hearts just shovelled more pressure on themselves. We need to make that work in our favour.

You’ve done it again! In your previous message you claimed our manager is bang average and in this one you are doing the exact same thing in pulling out stats to suit a narrative. We are clearly not going to win every game so beyond that you look at the performances and most have been very good even when we have drawn or lost. Stop trying to make this something it’s not. We have had an excellent season, have a great team and a very good manager.

I think Nicholson is the most similar to Slattery but probably only good for 45 mins or an hour. I’d be tempted to play Oscar and push Fadinger or Watt forward a bit and bring Nicholson on for secomd half or last 30 mins. We’ve been playing JT as striker and I don’t think that’s working. Perhaps play more like we did against Celtic at Fir park or else Said to bench and Thor at striker with JT playing off him.
-
I was referring to managers.
-
Unless they win the cup
-
European football is an achievement., We are in line to get it. Falkirk are not.
-
In fairness I would put Tommy Coyne in the legend category. He never won silverware with us but he was the spearhead of a fantastic Motherwell side and scored many a crucial goal. He was also a terrific footballer into the bargain. Likewise guys like Keith Lasley, Stephen Craigan and Stevie Hammell, all club legends in my book for the many years of great service they gave us.
-
We have still only lost 6 league games, if they were spread out more then would still be some achievement. We have just hit bad run plus I think transfer speculation has affected Watt and JT. also a few other players hit dip in form......Said...McGinn...SOD. However the referees and VAR have given us hee haw in recent weeks (oxlade-chamberlain no red card.......and 2 shocking decisions yesterday) imagine if sellik never got those...be a 4 day national debate note to self..........don't call JBA a legend. 🤪🤪

A legend is born when we win silverware, that's why Tommy McLean is given that accolade and if truth be told for much of Tommy's 10 year reign we were relegation cannon fodder but where he took us from and to is what puts him in that category for me.
-
Well said: and both penalty decisions were wrong (and crucial). Even in the free-kick awarded from which they scored, the Falkirk player looked to me to be pulling McGinn as much as anything but the referee seemed to penalise us disproportionately throughout the game. I expect little from our referees nowadays, just to avoid disappointment 👹.

I haven’t at any point said that we haven’t been very good this season overall. We have clearly surpassed all pre-season expectations and then some and indeed the football we have shown we are capable of playing has been the best in as long as I can remember, possibly since McGhee’s first season back in 07/08. But nothing is black and white. There was nothing that I said earlier that wasn’t factual. We failed to win a league match until late September, throwing away a bucketload of points early season. We have a very poor record against the top six sides especially away from home. In both Cup competitions we exited in absolutely dismal fashion and the Scottish Cup tie against Aberdeen saw the manager rotate the team for no good reason. And since mid-late February we have fallen away performance and result wise and from being talked about as potential title contenders we now look like we could throw away fourth place. Now, let me be clear, even if that does happen it will still have been a very good season for us but I think while there will be a great deal of fondness for this season, Jens and the way we have played when we are at our best, there will also be a degree of “what might have been” or even possibly “what should have been”. JBA has been very good for us in his short time and I hope we can hang onto him. But he is not a club ‘legend’ yet as was suggested and he is certainly not the next Pep Guardiola as you would think with the way some both inside and outside our support have been gushing over him. He could very well go on to be a legend of Motherwell FC but he is nowhere near that yet. Artichoke. Cholmondely. Pedigree CHUM.

Matt, this guy lives for reactions , some people need to look up definition of " supporter", we didn't play well yesterday but again would have taken something if officials/ var were on it I fancy us to get something at Tynecastle any team that can double crowds is doing a lot right...unprecedented
-
Falkirk play good stuff and it's good to see them doing well as a smaller team but we have some terrible decisions v them at fp this season ...var again being selective when to get involved.
-
Wow. You just love getting the boot in. I have said it before and will again, we need to stop and remember where this team was last season and judge JBA on that. Yes we have had a dip in form but to pick apart the season with that statement above is ridiculous. I have absolutely loved this season, it’s the best football I have seen at Fir Park and long may it continue.

I like Priestman, but I dont think he can play the Slattery role. He could however play the Fadinger role and maybe push Lukas forward? Another option would be Nicholson, who I thought looked sharp yesterday when he came on. Similarly, McGhee looked very comfortable at right back yesterday. Good to have some options. We should use them to keep the squad fresh and give the opposition a different question to answer. Id be interested to find out what the issue was with Eythor as he was definitely in the training pics during the week. I know folk have their doubts about his quality, but big Henderson was getting away with murder yesterday and needed bodied!

There are some good points in there, but the no plan B thing isnt one of them. Jens has made various in game changes and employed the long ball regularly throughout the season when necessary. I agree with Mcghee and Nicholson, both looked very useful yesterday when they came on and I would like to see both get more minutes as we go into the split. As for Falkirk. I agree McGlynn is a very good manager. But to suggest he is doing better than Jens because he has got them top 6 and has a winnable cup semi final is pushing it. We are above them in the table for a reason, and have also been to a cup semi final. If MGlynn gets them to the final there is a conversation to be had about who has done better, but not yet.
