  1. Past hour
  2. Agreed. Del, Rangers and MJC are a match made in heaven. I am always very happy when Motherwell try a completely different approach.
  3. Seems he didn't know Jens personally, going by the video of him meeting the staff. "Max Rogers, assistant manager. Hopefully"
  4. I'd have hated to see any McInnes style manager at Fir Park. We want to try and build on last season, not revert back towards Kettlewell's approach.
  5. Having spent the last few days continually hitting refresh on the website to get news of our new manager, I can't decide if I am excited or underwhelmed by today's announcement. There is no doubt that the club are trying to stick with a successful formula but it does appear as if Rosenborg were going backwards under Johansson's care towards the end. Some comments I have read are less than flattering about the teams performances this season. They are currently sitting in the relegation zone in the league. This appointment reminds me a little of Ian Cathro being appointed at Hearts. A very young manager from a non playing background who relied heavily on laptops and analytics. Cathro was unsuccessful at Hearts but I think that was partly due to the culture at Hearts and the culture in Scottish Football at the time. Cathro has been very successful since and I think he has just landed a top job in France. I get a sense that the senior players will have some say in how successful the new man is so hopefully the manager and senior players build a good rapport from the beginning. I really hope he can build on the success of the last year and that by this time next year our biggest concern is that we are fending of interest for our rising star once more.
  6. Good to see you still supporting your big team. As for your assessment of "Del" as you call him gies peace ffs and stop talking shite.
  7. I think you may be supporting the wrong club mate!
  8. Spot on. Berthel Askou was a breath of fresh air in the league last season and this guy might have the same effect.
  9. I got the impression that JBA and him know each other well, probably from their FC Copenhagen days, i suspect a wee reccomendation from JBA to the club board.
  10. Good interview, he comes across really well and I noted that as well as talking to the management and staff here he’s also had discussions with Jens about the club and probably the players.
  11. Should go without saying that any new manager inevitably has to prove himself to sceptics however that interview was a good start. I’d have had more concerns if we were the first club he’d brought his academic path to but he’s had two+ years at a senior club so few concerns about his age. Our players showed last year that they responded to a supportive coach encouraging them to play attacking football so can’t see them needing convincing of continuing this approach. This feels like a very positive appointment building on where we finished last season compared to so many seasons where it felt like we were having to reset whether or not with a new manager. welcome aboard Alfred.
  12. Looking at their time at Copenhagen it would appear that they were not there at the same time but it’s possible that they could have mutual friends from the club.
  13. Today
  14. I suppose the issue of a manager never having been a professional footballer only rears its head if and when the players start to believe he doesn't know what he's doing. Conversely, we've seen former top players seemingly lose dressing rooms because of their attitudes.
  15. Jose Mourinho never played professionally and his record isn't too bad. Looking forward to seeing what AJ can bring and I hope everyone is patient. JBA was different class and a hard act to follow
  16. 443 is very positive....and cheating 🤣🤣
  17. Hawww thunder stealer....I said that earlier about Alfie! 🤣🤣
  18. Welcome Alfred. He seems a good fit with our style of play and hopefully will steer us along the same path. Yes, he is young, and hasn't played professional but he's managed a big Norwegian club.
  19. Thats what made me think 🤔
  20. Craig Brown wrote in his programme note once that he was a Hamilton fan.
  21. Just my opinion and its not based on much apart from the fact i like my managers to have played proffesional football and to be at least a bit older than the players, have the fear for this appointment, huge act to follow and near certain to be needing to replace one or two of our best players from last season, time will tell.
  22. Reassured and excited by that interview and Richie's excellent tactical card-marking up-thread. It's all theoretical at this stage but I'm relieved we haven't employed any of the usual re-treads and seem to be sticking to a more progressive approach. 🙏🙏🙏

    Our New Manager

You don’t say about Craig Brown do you?? I don’t think anyone would seriously dispute that he was very much out for himself but when he was here he was very much being described as a Motherwell man, even up until his departure with some on this very board citing that supposed fact as the reason he would not leave us for Aberdeen.

    Our New Manager

I’m not so sure about that. Craig Brown was always a “Craig Brown man” and There’s no getting over the fact calling someone a Motherwell/st Mirren/Killie man is 1000% different to calling someone a “rangers/celtic man.”and “he gits it” using these phrases is as as subtle as the orange away kit or the tri-colour trackie. We all know what it really means.

    Our New Manager

He would more likely than not have a League Championship with Hearts to his name if it hadn’t been for John Beaton’s shitebaggery against us. He won Aberdeen their first silverware in almost two decades and never finished lower than 4th in the league whilst regularly reaching the latter stages of cup competitions with them. He also won the championship title with Kilmarnock (and St.Johnstone for that matter) and took them to Europe. I’d say that’s a pretty decent track record.
  26. It's going to be a tough gig to replicate last year...especially without Slatts and Just? And whoever else...Jba was obviously a good coach but we had some great players last year...onwards and upwards though.

    Our New Manager

Well it certainly worked for us when we brought in Craig Brown to sort out Jim Gannon’s mess. I’ll even grudgingly credit McGhee second time around for stabilising us after the Baraclough shambles. Though granted your point about managers from Scotland having that defeatist mindset when it comes to us playing bigger sides is absolutely valid. Plenty of our fans were describing the aforementioned Craig Brown as a ‘Motherwell man’ before he moonlighted to Aberdeen. And to be fair calling him Del is pretty cringeworthy. I think ‘Mr McInnes’ sounds much more staunch and dignified.
