Disagree. based on talent Stama could be a great player for us. Unless you mean based around a probable common sense hunch he wants out of Fir Park
-
Almost guaranteed we’ll get hammered by Killie with midfield dream team of Polwarth and Paton with a couple of stunners and taking turns to slip Moses in for a brace.
- Today
-
Who knows? Maybe the new manager will have a training regime that doesn't crock 3 first team players per week.
-
Stama probably falls into that category too, unfortunately. Based on what we've seen this season, it's hard to imagine him making any real impact over the next 2 years.
-
I dont disagree. I would include Stuparevic in that unless he has had an epiphany and realises he needs to back up his talent with hard work. Much will depend on when they are fir to return to training, when the window is due to open and whether we can engineer moves for them taking into account our contractual obligatikns to them.
-
Of course, the "dialogue" might be "Do you know any good players we can sign?"
-
Thompson and Connelly
-
Who are the remaining players we are still in dialogue with?
-
I think Paton is most likely to end up at Killie. Sorry to see Seddon go. He's the one out of the four I'd like to have kept.
-
Daws doesn't get to offer players new contracts.
-
If Thompson is the answer to the left back position then I seriously want to know who is making these decisions cause it isn't the new man in charge that's for sure.Terrible decision to offer him terms it must be Daws doing this. As for the rest no tears from me tbh we need fresh faces in this team and I hope some of the current squad leave to make room for more new blood.
-
I think at least two of those 4 will end up at Kilmarnock , my bets are on Paton and Seddon....Ebyie at a push.
-
For me Robinson and Nicholson need to go as soon as they're fit, as they are never going to be good enough.
-
Agree about the legacy members. That has always been confusing, even before the monthly contributions arrived. Maybe we can get some clarity at the Society meeting at the end of the month.
-
I dont think you need to apologise at all. Always interested to see others thoughts on these matters. You may be raising something others hadnt considered.
-
Absolutely. Who needs quality when you can have quantity?
-
Seddon > Thompson. Only issue was his ability to stay fit. I wouldnt be offering Thompson a new contract. Good athlete, but not a good enough footballer, even at our level. Paton and Davor Im cool with. Letting Moses go also makes sense. He would have been a good impact sub, but with Robinson, Nicholson and Stuparevic all injured we need a couple players who can start games. The others can fill the bench if they get fit.
-
So no more "can play anywhere across the front three, number 10 or wingback" signings?
-
That’s the thing. We’ve now got a chance to build a balanced squad and finally play players in their proper positions.
-
So Paton to to Killie then?
-
Saw Wilson playing the traditional left back position for Beith and he was easily their best olayer that season when they won the WOSL Premier League title. Definitely looks happier playing in that role although he was used as a wing back on occasion as well. Wouldn't have any qualms about him as a LB in a back 4.
-
Would have liked to have kept Seddon.
-
I’ve got no issue with using loanees in principle, but I’ve raised concerns before about relying too heavily on them to build a squad. You’re right that there’s still plenty of time before the window closes, but that doesn’t change the fact that we should be aiming to go into pre-season and the League Cup with a near-complete squad, where feasible.
-
If we go with a traditional back four next season, I think Wilson would do the job just fine. As for Thompson, he doesn’t offer much going forward or defensively, so I would be disappointed if we gave him another deal.
-
Even if we don't play with fullbacks?
