Wonder if he’ll be as successful as Ben Hall was
-
Our Academy youngster, Harry Grierson, (I've never heard of him) signs for Brighton for a 6 figure fee.
-
He comes over really well does Kyrk, it’s so refreshing listening to his outlook and enthusiasm for progressing the club….. it’s just what I need after watching Steve Clarke’s press conference and his IM Jolley demeanour.
- Today
-
Per Kyrk's interview there , one or two new faces due shortly, but leaving Alfred space to bring in his own also. https://x.com/i/status/2070522480318423181

Every one a 'Well fan, I believe 🤣........ The original with the guys rocking through Melbourne was pretty good too.
-
Unfortunately this is now postponed, as motherwell are taking a number of the youth players across to Denmark due to our small squad. The charity tournament will still go ahead, followed by a match against Darvel. The match v motherwell will be rearranged for a later date

Closed door friendly arranged against St Johnstone tomorrow afternoon.

Just to stimulate discussion, I looked at both Colin O'Neil and Michael Higdon and excluded them on the basis of their limited appearances. However, a strong case can be made for them both. KVV? I would have excluded him due to limited appearances, but he did set an all time goalscoring record for continuous games and thats why I selected him. I'm itching to see someone else's top 100.

“…. Survey can be found on line here” however, I don’t see any link. edit: I got it. Thought I had clicked on “here” but obviously my fat thumb didn’t press where thought it did. So on a re try my thumb actually clicked on the word HERE

A superb piece of research and looks to me like a well thought out and balanced group. Taking in all the factors that matter to us fans. No chance any two lists would be identical which emphasises what a task it is. My main addition would have been Higdon. Had to win the fans over, did that and ended up a cult hero for both his on and off field contributions. I would rate him marginally above KVV. All about opinions though. Thanks for putting the time and effort into this.

2 omissions that jump out to me, along with Moult are Colin O'Neil and Michael Higdon. Great effort though 👏
-
Link is on front page of club website
-
Never got one, it's maybe random not a full fan base survey do you have a link
-
That’s a great list I would of picked my mate Ian McLeod 😊

I have completed a few surveys in the past couple of years, but haven't received anything recently. Maybe it was targeted at a specific audience?
-
Of course. And the point of these lists is, in part, to generate this kind of discussion. He was one of my favourite players, and he did make more appearances for us than Faddy. Would be very boring if we all had the same tastes in football.
-
I expect that most of you will have received details of the club's fan survey by now and I hope many of you will participate. The more quality data on the fanbase that the club collects the better. However, I thought that 2 or three questions were difficult or impossible to answer correctly due to wrong or confusing wording or lack of appropriate options. Give it a go though.
-
I did consider him originally but excluded him later. A very good player for us in my favourite team in the 70s, but felt that he hadn't played enough games for us. He wasn't of such quality (i.e a Just or Miller) to overcome that. Just my opinion though.
-
No Marinello? Fix Excellent work, though.
-
A tremendous piece of work: thanks for all that effort. Wot, no Bob Malcolm 🤣?

Well, I've finally finished my personal 100. A very hard and subjective task. Everyone will have different views but I took into account the number of appearances; number of goals scored (where applicable); international recognition; and trophy winners. It was especially hard to rate players I'd never seen in the flesh and those of bygone times, some of whom I hadn't heard of. I had to rely written accounts of our early players. The chances are, if I started again I'd come up with something slightly different. How do you rate someone who made many appearances for our club i.e. a stalwart such as Willie MacCallum against a brief but brilliant "shooting star" like Lennon Miller? Personal bias also came into it. Incidentally, Louis Moult came in at 101. 1 Hughie Ferguson 2 Bobby Ferrier 3 George Stevenson 4 Alan McClory 5 Willie McFadyen 6 Hugh Wales 7 Alan Craig 8 Ben Ellis 9 Willie Telfer 10 Johnny McMenemy 11 Johnny Johnman 12 Johnny Murdoch 13 John Blair 14 Andy Paton 15 Willie Redpath 16 Willie Kilmarnock 17 Archie Shaw 18 Johnny Johnston 19 Jimmy Watson 20 Archie Kelly 21 Johnny Aitkenhead 22 Joe Wark 23 Steve Kirk 24 Davie Cooper 25 Willie Rankin 26 Ian St John 27 Willie Hunter 28 Bert McCann 29 Wilson Humphries 30 Willie Pettigrew 31 Chris McCart 32 Jim Forrest 33 Bobby Graham 34 Dougie Arnott 35 Phil O'Donnell 36 Tom Boyd 37 Charlie Aitken 38 Pat Quinn 39 Andy Weir 40 Tommy Sloan 41 Ally Maxwell 42 Charlie Cox 43 Eli Just 44 Lennon Miller 45 Paul Lambert 46 Craig Paterson 47 Luc Nijholt 48 John Martis 49 James McFadden 50 Scott MacDonald 51 Tom Forsyth 52 David Turnbull 53 Steve Hammell 54 Keith Lasley 55 Stephen Craigan 56 Rab MacKinnon 57 Keith McRae 58 Darren Randolph 59 Joe McBride 60 Brian Martin 61 Martyn Corrigan 62 Colin Hampton 63 Donald Mcleod 64 John Gahagan 65 Duncan Ogilvie 66 Gary MacAllister 67 Stephen O'Donnell 68 Bobby Watson 69 Dixie Deans 70 Iain Gardiner 71 Tommy Coyne 72 KVV 73 Hugh McNeil 74 Craig Brown 75 Willie MacCallum 76 George Nicol 77 David Clarkson 78 Robert Stewart 79 Peter Millar 80 Bobby Russell 81 Willie McSeveney 82 Davie Whiteford 83 Bobby MacCallum 84 Pat Delaney 85 Stephen Pearson 86 Peter McCloy 87 Mio Krivocapic 88 Gregor Stevens 89 Graham Forbes 90 Francis McStay 91 George Robertson 92 Hutton Bremner 93 Bobby Roberts 94 Vic Davidson 95 Gordon Bremner 96 Tommy Mackenzie 97 Dick Little 98 Duncan Finlayson 99 Jackie Hunter 100 Walter Cowan

League 1 aside Sheffield Wed are one of the biggest clubs in England. Probably twice the size/support of the majority of premiership clubs. It’s a decent move for him.
-
To be fair, they're a big club and Will probably expect to get promoted this season. Not denying money is a factor but not like he's going to a smaller club like Mansfield or Leyton Orient in league one where he'd still get more money....
-
Slattery wont be bothered what league they are in, its the no doubt vast increase in his wages thats the main attraction.
