Step off yer soapbox. Its obvious the SNP are in league with the Celik. Their mps get freebies to attend Celik matches and even watch the games on the government I pads at our expense then ly about it.. No smoke without fire.
-
Yeah can't disagree with that (although i'm not fine with it š). Its just... how? I appreciate i/ we will always be biased towards our team. But that put to one side, the national reaction to it, including down in england, is not like anything we've had up here for as long as i can remember and the overwhelming majority are saying it was wildly wrong. How can anyone have the brass neck to come out now and say it was right? Especially one who is in charge of a group of referees, none of which are selected for representing at a higher level. It's going to be an awful look.
-
I mean, they kind of have to, and tbh I'm fine with that. Admitting an error that massively affects who wins your flagship competition would open a much bigger can of worms, both sporting and legal.
-
Happy to accept you have posted this in good faith, but not sure how an article from the Express helps the discourse? They are fervent anti SNP Brexiteers with an axe to grind. They also mention in the article that similar schemes are in place in Germany and the Netherlands. So what agenda are the governments / FA in those countries following? There are many faults in our game and with our government, but suggesting that there is some conspiracy between the SFA and SNP to ensure Celtic win the league (as the article does, not you personally) is some leap.
-
They have to fudge some sort of justification. It would be completely unpalatable for them to admit an error, given the ramifications of the decision.
-
BBC gossip column stating the SFA are to back the decision on wednesday night. Unbelieveable, yet still so believable at the same time. Have not heard one person that isnt of a green bias agree with it. About to make scottish football even more of a laughing stock if true and it becomes official.

Hopefully a win and a chance for the squad to take a bow, albeit in front of a smaller support.

Article from the Daily Express which is pertinent to this discussion. I'm not one to get involved in politics on these pages, and make no comment but simply reposting an article. https://www.scottishdailyexpress.co.uk/news/politics/snp-governments-strategic-partnership-sfa-37155095

Its the same tune as "Scotland away, away, away". Think its relatively new, but has taken on a whole life of its own now. Hearing all 3 stands singing it last night and drowning out the Celtic fans was pretty special š§”ā¤ļøš§”

Went for O'Donnell but could easily have went with Sparrow. Fadinger and Johnny K also impressive.

Not one person at the time in the stadium or the viewing public saw that as a penalty. No one person had a clue why the match had stopped. There was no clear or obvious error. Thereās a list of about 20 other things to argue itās not a penalty. beaton and nepo baby Dallas deserve every single bit of criticism and both should be banned from ever officiating any more senior games. Itās not a one off for either of them, both have been totally incompetent for years. And yesā¦.. Iām still not over it

Too hacked off post last night. Thought we were the better team in the first half, they were for half an hour in the second then us again for the last 15. On the penalty, viewing from the Cooper, I first thought just another throw in to begin with then a free kick to us when there was a slight delay. Completely bewildered when the announcement was made for a VAR check but kept an open mind and thought might have been pretty clear given how quickly Beaton turned and pointed. On the drive home Sportsound going mental about it then watched Sportscene and various other sources since. You really can't explain why VAR got involved in the first place and when it did why Beaton didn't stick by his on field decision without thinking there is a serious problem with competence and/or weakness in decision making with the officiating. The fact Beaton was so quick to award it given how it doesn't seem at all clear whether any of the criteria to justify it are there, never mind there being any contact with the hand, leaves it open to all sorts of theories. May be just my biased viewpoint but I think there isn't any less proof Nicholson was fouled, looks to have taken elbow to the ribs in the challenge.

If he stays in Scotland, that is abroad. For him, at least.
-
Well WTF is he on the board at the ws ?
-
That will be ex celtic Chris Sutton!. Fair play to Darren O'Dea as he thought it was poor
-
I heard Chris Sutton today defend the decision by saying that John Beaton made a subjective decision that it was a hand ball and that is enough. The point of VAR is that the subjectivity is removed and the referee makes an objective decision based on overwhelming evidence. It is crazy that Sutton will be getting paid a small fortune to analyse the game and he can't grasp this. John Beatons subjective decision was no penalty in real time. The objective, beyond reasonable doubt decision was then to actually give the penalty. This is even more crazy when the camera angle used as evidence looks like it has been taken from the CCTV cameras at the Civic.

Well said sir

I hope if we are losing JBA it's done early so we have time to replace him. We should realistically have a shortlist ready to go as it shouldn't be a massive shock his track record shows he doesn't tend to stay long in jobs and you can't begrudge him a move for more money. The new manager needs to be in place for pre-season to get the recruitment done as we enter Europe in Conference League QR2 or league cup groups should Hibs win sat and Dunfermline win the cup/ That means next season restarts in July so not much turnaround. This rebuild should in theory be easier than the last as we have a decent core and lots of sellable assets which should attract some better players and managers than years gone by.

If he leaves for a broad his wife will be raging!!.........sorry......part deux

Iād much rather JBA stayed at Fir Park and said,āfuck it!! we are going to show these chunts next seasonā. But then, wouldnāt we all. Cāmon JBA, get us fourth and lead us forth into Europe.
-
Oh, grizzly, grizzly..... Actually a friend who has just arrived in France for a holiday mentioned that the Toulouse/Motherwell connection is being discussed in the sports press there, so there may be something to it. When he leaves us, I hope it's for abroad.

Rather a good summary of this shameful episode. There are oft-repeated claims that Beaton was targeted by some Celtic fans after negative comments by Brendan Rogers on his decisions, and that his house was damaged and both he and his wife were threatened. If that is the case, why is he given Celtic games to referee? Celtic fans have flooded social media with derisive whitabootery to deflect from the shitstorm while most other commentators have expressed disbelief, including many furth of Scotland with no dogs in the race, like the normally dismissive English commentators on Talk Sport, some of whom have spoken glowingly of Motherwell's football, e.g. Agbonlahor. My prediction is that the SFA will circle the wagons as usual and jive-talk their way round the controversy until the season ends and that Hearts will avoid defeat on Saturday while we smite the Leithers mightily. Oh, and JBA will get out of Scotland ASAP. He surely must realise the toxicity of the whole OF thing. Very proud to be a 'Well fan.
