They do, but in reality they were never going to be as bad as they were last season when it certainly was our best chance of winning silverware especially with the manager and players we had. We didn’t get anywhere near it though and that’s history now. Celtic will more likely than not win the treble this season because they are the biggest club in the country, have the most money and therefore can afford players of a far higher standard than anyone else. But I still want us to go as far as we can in the domestic cups because that keeps our albeit slim chance of winning a trophy alive. I certainly don’t want to see us whimpering out in the last sixteen against Stenhousemuir.
-
Celtic look much improved this season. Think last season was our best chance of winning it. Still could make money from semi final or final though
-
We’re the top flight side playing against a lower league team in a Cup competition which we have reached the semi finals of in the last two seasons. We should ALWAYS be aiming to go as far as we possibly can in the domestic cups even if our chances of winning the competition is slim. But as we saw with St.Mirren last year if you are still in it you can still win it. Celtic were the favourites to win it this time last year as they always are, but had St.Mirren fielded a less than full strength side in earlier rounds and lost then they wouldn’t have won the trophy against a very much out of sorts Celtic side when they played them in the final.
-
If the favourites win every cup tie we might as well just give Celtic the trophy now and the rest of us can focus on the league.
-
Our strongest available starting 11 should play tomorrow. No excuses. We have been stung too many times in Cup ties when we’ve rotated and rested players. Tomorrow is a must win game, anything less is unacceptable.
- Today
-
Aye, Connolly is in the squad because of his qualities in playing out from the back.
-
Thats the funniest thing you have posted yet
-
If only we had kept them.😂
-
I'd fancy us to beat Palace 3 - 0 too.
-
We are a good side and who knows stranger things have happened. The odds gave us a 10 to 20% chance. I'm not confident but I am proud that we've represtend ourselves well. Has a feeling of Dortmund all those years ago.
-
We’re also a good side.
-
To more of the same this season.....
-
Obviously they are a good side. But we need to remind ourselves we have beat very good old firm teams in the past, that are financially on par with Frieburg, but with argueable poorer teams than what we have now. Its 11 v 11, show no fear and be brave. We can win this with the luck you usually need to beat top sides.

It was last season, we move on
-
Palace are pish.. Nothing to worry about
-
Surely you cant be suprised that a certain club again gets the benefit of doubt. Identical to Falkirks disallowed goal.
-
Palace still looked like they were in pre season mode but their league starts next Saturday. Freiburg looked more up for it, they definitely come out the blocks quick, I honestly think palace players maybe touched the ball 5 times in the first 10 mins. Freiburg are quick and zipped the ball about well, it did take them a while to score though….. if that is any form of positive.
-
I see our referees continue to misapply the handball rule for Celtic.
-
Was it an easy win and deserved 3 nil?
-
I had the honour of playing in the same team with Jon earlier this year, he is still very fit and very fast. Think he scored more in that game than his whole time in the 1st team.
-
Connelly became our number two specifically because he is comfortable playing out from the back. Ox was not. I think people still blame him for the Aberdeen cup loss, but Ward gave away a couple of goals too while generally solid.
-
Good job Stama not fit and I suggested he starts..🤣🤣🤣
-
I watched it. They were worryingly impressive. Playing in a similar way to us but a million times faster
-
Freiburg Just battered Crystal Palace 3 nil today
-
Don’t agree that Connelly’s not confident playing out from the back, from what I recall apart from a couple of time where he nearly got caught - same as any player - he looked ok and managed well with our style of play. JBA was happy enough with him to let Ox go out on loan which, in my opinion, says something about the lads ability.
