Went for Williams as he looked good when he was on the wing and probably because I expect Priestman and Fadinger to play at that level - although they both had a few stray passes which a better team would have caused us bother with.
-
I'm not sure why Ewan Wilson is being picked on tonight, I wasn't too impressed with him under Kettlewell, and I presume JBA didn't fancy him either, but he got forward well tonight and linked up with Williams on several occasions, and when he moved to centre half when Longello came on he looked comfortable playing the ball out. He will be third choice behind Longello and Williams on the left, and may fall further down the pecking order depending on signings, but he looked ok tonight.

Motherwell vs Havnar Bóltfelag (23/7) Discussion
Great Balls of Shire replied to David's topic in Club Chat
Have we to bookmark this as we had to with last game v Hibs? -
Don’t quite understand the comments on Wilson - from my view he had a solid game and had some good interchanges with Williams in attacking sense. Noticeable that manager kept him on the pitch for the whole game and trusted him in central role when Longelo came on. he might not be starter ahead of Longelo / Williams but nothing I saw gave me the fear.
-
I think Joe was signed from Irvine Vics and what a player he was defensively, with those India rubber legs; rarely booked and always willing.
-
An interesting, and impossible to answer, question. Coyne, Cooper, Russell, Graham, and a few others probably, all arrived at the end of their careers and contributed hugely. If you take into account signings from Junior / youth teams then Keith McRae, sold for £100k in the early seventies should be under consideration. .Joe Wark, signed from Blantyre Vic (I think) and an absolute club legend should be up there too. I could probably come up with several more given time. Money received shouldn't be the only consideration in this discussion.
-
Priestman for all round performance and lasting the full game where others played well sporadically but, understandably, faded.
-
Quite enjoyed that tonight, 2 cracking goals. Moorman was good. Euan Wilson gives me the fear whenever the balls goes anywhere near him, he just isnt very good. Once we get to know each other and get 3 to 4 new sigings then hopefully we can kick on!!!!!!!!!!! Mon the Well

Priestman was absolutely superb tonight , that boy will earn us serious money in the future. Elliott who.
-
It was a toss up between Fadinger and Priestman, both were excellent tonight and controlled midfield. Peach of a strike by Fadinger.
-
Longelo Just coming back from injury but once fully fit him and Williams could be great left side combination
-
All in all I was pretty happy with tonight, the defence looked a bit at sea occasionally but that was mainly due to being unfamiliar with each other. I could pick a few holes here and there but given that it was a scratch, and very young team, I was pretty happy with what I saw.
-
Me too, slow pace, slow reactions i was very surprised he started ahead of longelo.
-
Considering there were quite a few sub optimal factors going into this match I thought we performed well. Priestmann and Fadinger were excellent. Sharpness and fitness will increase and so will understanding between the players. We lacked a physical presence in general and a cutting edge up front but I'm sure we will address that and we were missing our four first team centre forwards tonight. Overall a decent win with improvements to come.
-
And someone mentioned, first half we put in a lot of crosses so perhaps Thor might be heading (sorry for bad pun) for a good season?
-
A win and 90 minutes under the belt that should see us that bit fitter and sharper for next week so all in all a decent nights work.
-
Priestman and Fadinger were, not surprisingly, stand outs. I went for WIlliams, just because he looked the part in his first competitive start. I think we have a footballer there.
-
That's true. A few quid in the bank and no more squinting to look at their numbers.
-
Fadinger for me.
- Today
-
Alfred seems to like a few more forward passes than Jens too. So that should be interesting. Early days, but it looks like we have a plan.
-
Taking all the outgoings, incomers, injuries, new manager, and the fact we're basically still in pre-season into account, that was a positive display and result.
-
Really tough choice. Priestman abd Williams really good and paulsen 2 key saves but I went for moorman for that strike
-
I went with Fadinger, mainly because I didn't spend the whole game wondering whether it was him or Watt that was on the ball. The choice was between him and Oscar but I was pretty impressed with Wilson, Reich, Moormann and Williams. No failures tonight at all, I'm looking forward to how this team develops.
-
Job done, thought all new signings contributed well. Style of play same but more long diagonal balls. I thought Williams done really well and him and Longelo could be good partnership but Wilson done just fine. Fadinger, Priestman, booth all done well. Said frustrates me so much, the talent there but decision making ends improved. A happy night though

Priestman got better and better as game went on.
