  1. Today
  2. According to Killie fans they had five players missing on Sunday. Some of the players we are missing are long term injuries as well. My frustration right now is that the club don't seem to be communicating to the fans about injuries. They used to. For example Slattery - he took a knock a few weeks ago and there's been very little said since. I do get that the manager can only tell fans what he knows but there have been little updates on any of our injuries lately.
  3. I also think a lot of our fans can't remember us being in this position where every game we are dominating. It's impossible to dominate for 90 mins though and due to this other teams are exploiting our weaknesses. However I for 1 am loving it and have no doubt we will come good. Remember when Alexander was winning and no one could see how as we were terrible but when our luck ran out we went to hell. Our luck this time hasn't started imo so only upside to come
  4. The early start in the League Cup certainly doesn't help as it interrupts the coaches' ability to put together a progressive training plan. I have heard various managers say that nowadays, their team doesn't get fully match fit until 2 or 3 months into the season.
  5. I think its just load. The game is getting quicker and the close season is getting shorter. Our teams used to finish mid May and start back mid August. Now they finish the end of May and are back playing League Cup mid July. I know players live very different lifestyles now, but their bodies must still need some rest and recuperation. Im sure JBA said as much in a recent presser.
  6. I Suspect every club in the country has the same issue Dave but nobody evers hears about it. Football is a contact sport so players will pick up injuries whether during a game or training or even playing with their kids on their days off, and the teams with the smaller squads will be impacted the most,. So for me there is nothing to see here, no conspiracy, dodgy training methods etc its the result of engaging in a contact sport.
  7. Begs question again. Is there something wrong with the trainning methods, physio, club infrastructue, lack of monitoring niggles or anything else that we have had a horendous injury list the last three seasons. Six games in , It cant be bad luck again. Could it be a problem with boots design nowadays.
  8. Its starting to look a lot like last year. Hopefully it doesnt spiral down into the shitfest that ended up. We are starting from a much higher water mark though, so Im hopeful we will be alright.
  9. There's a world of difference fitness wise playing the way Kettlewell did and playing the way JBA does. FWIW, I actually think the players look way fitter this season than they did last year. But a high intensity press and playing out from the back the way we do takes a lot more energy than a low block.
  10. For me it’s not purely fitness - the energy and distance players are covering with the tempo we’re playing at is a different level to what we’ve been doing before . i could be wrong (and often am) . I think some of the players will be spent by 60-70 mins playing at this tempo , particularly the midfield and wingbacks that are covering a lot of ground . The likes of Liverpool and other big clubs took time to adopt to this style and also relied on a depth of squad
  11. The Hearts game I'd agree but even then they'd have lost if it wasn't for two glaring keeper errors. . Dundee not so much. Sure after the break Dundee had a 15 min spell where they dominated but we took control again and Manwanhise and AP should have scored after that slight Dundee resurgence. Dundee had no possession / attacks of note after that post half time 15 minute burst.
  12. Yesterday
  13. Yes, we do need to get on with it. You're right in that other teams do have injuries, but are their lists as long as ours? Dundee, for example, had 2 players out last Saturday. By my reckoning we had 8 players out.
  14. Kevin van veen was overweight and out of condition when we signed him and came good. Come on now. It just seems that we are picking on players for the sake of it just now
  15. Some players we signed probably hadn't done a full pre season. Again I think we need to cut players some slack over this. Why shouldn't players be professional players if they've been signed late in the season and had to get their fitness up?
  16. If that's the case they should not be professional footballers, asking a well trained and fit player to play 90 mins of football once or twice a week is not asking a lot.
  17. Probably is but we just need to get on with it. Not the only team with injuries just now
  18. Let’s hope our injury list isn’t as long as it seems like it might be. 🥴
  19. I don't agree with that. I don't think it's other teams "sussing us out". When teams are losing of course they are going to try and change shape to try and win - and let's not forget we have a weakened midfield just now with Slattery out. Just was benched due to his international travels - we are weakened with injuries just now as well plus we lack options up top. Of course it's concerning that we can't hold onto a lead but we aren't the only team in the same position just now. Five games in. I think we need to cut JBA a bit of slack just now
  20. It’s still early(ish) days but so far JBA hasn’t shown any evidence of good game management so far and you have just provided two clear examples of that. There is obviously time for him and us to sort that out and indeed he does have credit in the bank with the team playing some nice football (in the middle of the park mainly) but we have thrown away three consecutive wins from winning positions due to poor play at both ends and poor use of substitutions to try and ‘shut the game down’. I said this the other day, we might very well look back on our early games especially that Hearts-Kilmarnock-Dundee trio as a very, very big set of missed opportunities this season.
  21. Thats a good point - I suspect many of the players are knackered by 60 mins we need strong subs to keep momentum or at least keep the ball - st the moment injuries are preventing us having the depth we need
  22. One worrying thing for me is that two managers, McInnes and Presley have changed things at half time and we have struggled. After the first round of games all managers will have had a close look at us. Let's hope JBA is able to adjust our way of playing if the opposition has sussed us out.
  23. There was a smash in the bridge on Saturday. Happened infront of us that essentially closed a lane and a half due to the glass. Made us miss the first 5 mins and left the house at 1pm. A journey that normally takes 75mins took 2 hours.
  24. Last week
  25. Maybe not, but through Transport Scotland, it did design the surrounding infrastructure and serious questions about capacity and other related issues were raised at the time but these were ignored. Its a long story and not for this forum, but in short, the Queensferry Crossing was deemed to be a straight replacement for the Forth Road Bridge and in no way was it to increase capacity. Sorry, I digress from the Dundee game.
