And also who woulda thunk asking footballers to play football would have met with such resistance from certain quarters?
-
No JK or Hendry in the squad ??
-
Am feeling a wee but sorry for the Kaiser Chiefs and it’s not all about the money for me so I’d accept £4M.
-
Happy with that line up, just shows the strength in depth. Come on well let's do this
-
A lots been made of Mcginn's injury. In fairness, he's had one long term injury and then an unfortunate reoccurrence. Probably due to a premature return. Both well worthy of extensions in my view.
- Today

Agreed. The thought of renewing both SODs and McGinn last year seemed mental. Especially after McGinns injury problems. Both of them have been outstanding this season and contribute so much both on and off the park. Who woulda thunk asking footballers to play football would have had such success!
-
Something that if it had been suggested even 6 months ago - would have been met with derision.........................and that would just have been from me 😄
-
Get Slatts on a longer term deal, renew SODs, clear out the deadwood and get 1 or 2 in to bolster the squad and we go into the second half of the season in pretty good shape.
-
Yeah, we’re in a strong enough financial position and on an upward trajectory that we don’t need to accept any of the usual pathetic offers from rival clubs, especially when most of our best assets are on good long-term deals anyway.
-
I know this is the reality for a club like ours. But it would be nice, just once, to be able to keep a group together and build something special. I think this manager and this group of players are capable of winning something, particularly if the gaffer got 2 or 3 windows to do it. The good thing right now is our relatively strong financial position will allow us to see off any lowball offers for our better players. So we shouldnt be losing too many bodies, if any, this month.
-
While I’d be gutted to lose a lot of our players, everyone is replaceable, and with a top-quality manager in place, I’ve no doubt he’d find the right replacements to fit his system and style of play.
-
I heard the Norwegian striker story in the East stand weeks ago. Hopefully there is something in this.
-
We got £1.8m for big Theo for a 15 goal season. Maswanhise is a different kind of player but is on a higher trajectory in terms of goals. No reason to think we couldnt emulate that fee.
-
Aye that's Lennon Miller money, and as much as I like him he's no Lennon Miller.
-
If it was the good JT all the time he would be worth 5m but at the moment you’re never sure which JT is going to turn up.

I like wee Tawanda but £5m??🤣 That would be sale of the century. Real Dick Turpin stuff

What sort of value would we put on TJ? A couple of days ago I had an article from a South African football site appear on Facebook regarding TJ and bemoaning the fact that he didn't get picked up by Kaiser Chiefs when he left Leicester. Now that he is near top scorer in the Scottish Premiership and having briefly shone at the African Cup of Nations, they reckon he is valued well beyond their budget with a price tag of between 5 and 6 million. Seemed unrealistic to me but if that is what others are thinking....
-
This is exactly it I’m afraid. It’s one of the reasons they do it, I’m sure of it. It causes issues and puts doubts in players and their team mates minds. There’s definitely something with JBA that I get from him that he really does not give a fk about any opposition right enough and I hope he drums that into our players. Clearly he’s already doing this with their performances so the January window will be interesting

the assistant gaffer
-
Exactly. They don’t necessarily want our players to improve their team, just to weaken the competition. The club needs to hold firm and not sell our best assets to teams in the same league. well also being doing our players a favor by selling to teams where they can make just as much money amd flourish better than they would at either of the arses. Don’t think we should ever be selling players in January window, that we deem as important first team players edit: I hope all the media rumor mungering doesn’t play with their minds. Players (any that we really want to keep) and their agents should be told that no one is leaving in January. We will review their situations at the end of the season.

Watt has been really good for us, zero arguament there. He wasnt really that good last year at St J. How much of the improvement is solely due to shape & instruction - obviously coupled with the lads dedication. If he was to go he would be a loss no doubt but im confident the gaffer can mould another midfielder into the system. With Slattery, Just, Priestman & Said we would still have a good base. Hope he sees the season out right enough

Anything the Sun can do badly, the Rancid can do just as badly it would seem.
