Not sure how Halliday has "low balled" us. He was asked what he thought Maswanhise was worth and he said "at least £3m". Thats the minimum. But its the January window, if clubs are desperate and we stick to our guns, the value could be significantly higher. Pesrsonally I dont think Tawanda is going anywhere this window. The club and the manager have proved they know what they are about. They will have a quiet word in his ear and tell him to keep doing what he is doing and an even bigger offer will come in the summer. And it probably wont be from a team in our league.......

Absolutely raging at that Halliday on TJ and the only reason I can see is he's publicly low balled a valuation as the currants are interested. He has no right as a paid employee of the club to band about such pish. As for those staying oh it's still a lot of money, get a grip. This weeks presser with JBA will be a fun one if the JT stuff comes up again. I'm not a huge fan of open goal, but Halliday has been a positive for us and generally speaks well about the game. As said above, he'll know what he's not allowed to talk about, and there's been a few times where he has refused to go into detail about certain things. The rags are desperate to make something happen with JT, and we've seen them run with tranfer links for literal years, so you just have to ignore it. I'm very sure that even bin fires of clubs dont take transfer advice from hacks wo are desperate to fill up column inches with AI slop. A large factor in a transfer fee is the length of contract and what the players current terms are. Think of it as compensation for the selling club to replace the player. There's other market factors that come into play, as well as how desperate a club is to sell, but when you see a club like Hearts or Hibs get bigger fees than us for similar players, the length/value of their contract is a big part of it. The player is also going to be more expensive the further up the food chain they go because they've proven themselves at a higher level. On our players, we will have our valuation, and when that's met, we will sell them. That's the model we're trying to follow.

If the club was worried about it they would ask him to stop. While he sometimes crosses the line, I think he's a net benefit for all the positive stories he tells.

It's not going to have any effect on the fee,the problem is halliday has just created an unnecessary headline for a player that for all we know could start to be getting unsettled with all the speculation,he should be keeping his mouth shut.

The quicker we get shot of Halliday the better if I was a manager I would not be wanting my players sat actively celebrating other teams in our leagues goals don't care wither they are a fan or not and slating other teams players on their podcast. Now he's talking valuations of his own teams best players. It's a shame cos he seems like a good guy around the dressing room but his social media stuff draws unnecessary headlines for the club.

Exactly Joe. Unlikely in the extreme that Brian Caldwell, JBA or a board member has discussed the club's TJ valuation, if he even has one, with Halliday.

Why does anyone think that anything Halliday says in a podcast will have any relevance to what fee Maswanhise goes for? His goals, the length of contract and how big Brian Caldwells balls are, are really the only factors. Everyone just needs to chill oot a bit!

I think it comes down to the offer. If it was £2 million. Could we possibly make that with Europe and a good cup run, yes possibly so it's worth knocking back. If the bid was £4 million would we be likely to make that with a cup run and European Football? Highly unlikely so that offer becomes worth it.

And since then? Maybe you should look at transfer fees as a proportion of the overall club turn over. £3 million pounds to us is probably 'worth' more to us than £6 million pounds to Hibs when you consider budgets, wages and so forth.

Every player is different and has different attributes and abilities. Can't make assumptions based on your very brief examples. That's an absurd comment to make. Halland came from small club in Norway. Possibly Miller may get to next level. Your view is fairly short sighted.

Accies got £3m for James McCarthy in 2009. I can’t recall Accies having a conveyor belt of quality talent prior to him.

Way to miss the point. What I'm saying is if you have exactly the same player at Stranraer, Motherwell, Hibs and Celtic the transfer fee received is going to be in a pretty predictable order.

Seeing James Scott playing for Ross County on Saturday, (as well as Allan Campbell signing for St. Mirren after sitting around for 6 months without a club) should have been a reminder that virtually none of the players we've sold on for big money have really made any real impact at a higher level. Even arguably the best players we've produced in the modern era, James McFadden, Phil O'Donnell or Tom Boyd, have not exactly set the heather on fire down south. You have to think that that affects any sell on price for a player after a while. Certainly if I was buying from a club one of the first things I'd be looking at is, have players from this club succeed at a higher level? Hibs can point to John McGinn at least.

I’m just hoping his agent doesn’t talk him into submitting a transfer request so he can go to one of the uglies. If his agent has half A brain and a wee bit of patience, he’ll get a better club and better financial deal down south.

Mio - I’m with you big time on this one. first of all - he should shut his mouth and have nothing to say about any Motherwell players value - he’s a player not our ceo . Know your place type thing . If referencing other clubs players being with 6.5m etc , it would have been so much easier to say - this is a 22 year old international player here at FP who’s the leagues top scorer . Now if others are worth 6M then be interesting to see how much clubs would pay for the top scorer . in all honesty it’s passed the time Halliday moved to his next role , either as a pundit or go play at Patrick or similar . I know he means well but I don’t really see him as promoting us, more himself and being dragged into the media OF that so many others have lived off for donkeys years

Option 1 and someone welcome to my season ticket. We sold star player for £4.5 million in summer so no need to sell anyone. If we sold that trio our season goes pear shaped and you lose about 2000 off the home crowds. This is best season i have enjoyed in over 30 years and could finish on a high, even more so if we have our best players
