  1. Past hour
  2. Can we close this topic? All this tick talk is doing my head in.
  3. “Tick tock” can reek of whatever you want it to reek of, and you can choose to derive whatever meaning you like from it. That doesn’t make you right. The number of people reading so much into and twisting two simple words is getting quite hilarious now.
  4. I hear you, and I did say that. But I also think we’ve allowed the bar to drop so far below where it was set last season that we’re now treating mediocrity as success simply because we’ve been so poor. There’s a world of difference between not matching last season’s levels and appearing to have fallen off a cliff altogether. I expected more this season. Instead, it looks like we’ve recruited poorly, both in terms of players and the manager, and we’re now seeing the consequences. We’re nowhere near JBA’s levels, but we’re also considerably further away than we should reasonably expect to be.
  5. The amount of coverage 'tick-tock' is getting reminds me of the time when that walloper called Jens a legend.............whoops 🤪🤪
  6. I think steady progress is being made and once we get lowry and williams our squad is looking strong. Hope AJ has contacts in norway and can find us a striker in January
  7. Does rude health mean ye asked him how he was doing and he told ye to f**k off! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
  8. Today
  9. I do wonder how some of our fans would cope when we went from November 1978 until November 1987 where we didn't beat Dundee Utd in 10 years. I remember like it was yesterday and the disbelief when I actually saw us beat them again.
  10. Exactly this. The former also reeks of gloating and a sense of enjoyment. We have just had our best run...however short.... for some time with improved performances on and off the pitch. Not perfect but progress all the same. With still a ways to go. Regarded by most as an exhilarating watch on a miserable day. Yet here we are with some minutely analysing the game determined to find/manufacture a stick to beat the manager with. The same few who were not so wordy after last week's win. They may be proved correct in the long run. Time will tell. But way to early to have minds made up. Blinkered is an understatement. Come back Steelboy! At least you were honest enough to give credit where credit was due even if it did not fit in with your overall view.
  11. Some mad comments on here. Happy with the draw away against a decent team. Green shoots of progress.
  12. Spot on Joe. The so called "continuity" approach which was mentioned when JBA, left threw and confused many fans, including myself. I can't speak for others, but I was expecting a JBA MK2 manager, albeit with hiccups due to players leaving and a new man coming in. I was still expecting very high possession stats. That has not been the case. AJ's approach is markedly different, although he did say when he arrived that he wanted to get the ball forward quicker. Maybe the continuity comments were naive? There are also questionmarks over recruitment, although many players have still to settle, if they ever do. Do the new lads fit AJ's style of play? Time will tell. What is clear though is that our striker recruitment has failed under both JBA and AJ. It was masked to some degree by an on form Maswhanise. When his form dipped, the deficiencies became clear. Neither Hendry nor Palmer Houlden are out and out goalscorers, but we presumably knew that when they were recruited. So, in that respect I'm not expecting much from them. They are being asked to play a game for which they are not suited. Thor? The jury is still out on him. He needs a run of starts before we can form a final view.
  13. I was very close to thinking time was up a few weeks ago but, performances and results have picked up. The last 4 games while only taking 5 points, have seen ahuge improvement on the field. The players are still playing for the manager & we are improving. Still lots of work to do but if AJ successfully turns this round then it could be the making of him.
  14. I know you werent mate just me still having a rant about some of the reactions to what was a very good DESERVED result Apologies if it came across wrong.
  15. Sorry, I wasnt disagreeing with anything you said. Just putting context on the reactions of others. Im broadly in alignment with your position.
  16. They may well have edged it in some people eys but they are the home team so is that such a shock, that shouldn't generate some of the nonsense spouted. We were worth our draw and even Goodwin grudgling conceded that maybe the case for others watching.. Before Moornan cleared of the line and the guys fluff at the far post their keeper from two good saves from us and Priestman had a fresh air shot when he should have scored. So for me we could have been a couple up before their late chances so a draw was right. I do conceded the quality of their chances were slightly better that's why their XG was 1.91 and ours was 1.75 so even by measure of the quality of goalscoring chances but what do we expect against a good team IN THEIR OWN BACK YARD. **And just for the record JBA didn't win at Tannadice against a DU team that were fa measurably worse than the current. Version.
  17. The " tick tock" was aimed at another poster which to me is gloating at someone losing their job.Like I said at the time if there were a round of redundancies at work , would people come away with " banter " like that? I dont recall you saying " tick tock" . Im happy enough with yesterday, could do with being a bit sharper up front but get Lowry back and we should be fine. A few players who have been getting pelters , JGR , Sparrow did well. Ive been critical of Paulsen but he also did well yesterday.
  18. I think our problem as a support is that Jens moved the bar on everything for us. Pre Jens a point at Tannadice would have been considered most acceptable. I think Ive been there 4 times and seen us lose 4 times. It was always a difficult venue for us. This in a week when the BBC are running articles on United having the best midfield in Scotland! (The boy Iqbal is quality btw). All the stats yesterday say a draw was a fair result. It doesnt always work that way and I did think they edged it second half and as such were the more likely to win. But not by so much that I didnt think we deserved our point. Hopefully with the ship steadied, we will see more consistency of performance going forward and we can all relax a bit soon!
  19. I'd never put myself in the Happy Clappy camp not by any measure but honest tae fuck some of the comments about yesterday are just trying to maintain a point of view already settled in some folks heads. You look at any measure of the stats yesterday we gave as good as we got against a decent DU team. Home side XG 1.91 the Away team 1.75. In case anyone was unsure we were the away team and to go to Tannadice and and play as we did deserves credit. DU as the home side should in the vast majority of games edge it just as I'd expect us to do at Fir Park. Then everyone frustrated at missed chances, as I was. For fuck sake we are at least creating the chances, it would be a real worry if we weren't creating chances. If we keep creating them it will turn. I'm nearly always in the hyper critical mode but for fuck sake go onto the BBC site and look at the stats. DU could have scored a couple near the end but we could also have been 3-1 up by then. Hanging on?? My arse.
  20. Ya Kid K! Everybodies Favourite Fifer! 😍😍😍
  21. Even a broken clock is right twice a day! 😍😍😍
  22. Im judging performances rather than results, albeit they are important if the manager wants to stay in a job. Looking at the bigger picture, we are clearly nowhere near the levels we set last season. But Im sure Ive seen you admit that was probably never going to be realistic. Alfred has a different style. Its still possession based, but he likes to get it wider and forward quicker, so we dont get the same control over games than we did before. My issue was that style disappeared for several weeks at a time he was getting much more time on the training pitch with the players and the injuries were subsiding. That was worrying and counter intuitive. But I think his style is back and clear to see. Much more like what we saw in Europe. Add Lowry back into the mix and I think we look like a team that can hurt other teams. We are also looking a bit steadier at the back. Albeit some of our players are still switching off at important times. (See their goal yesterday, and the big chance at the end). The glaring omission for me is in front of goal. We need someone to step up and start taking some of the chances we are creating. Im not naive however. The last few weeks have been an improvement. But its the direction of travel thats important. If we continue to get better then we will be mid table at worst. If we regress back to where we were, we could be back in the shit before we know it.
  23. Maybe United thought they were playing a derby came against Dundee
  24. Dallas was the var ref today so that useless fud wouldnt know a penalty if he saw one .
  25. Stama got on the score sheet for MacArthur Bulls against Tom Aldred Brisbane Roar won 1-2 It was a real blood and snorters game
  26. Ship has certainly been steadied, which I couldn’t see coming after the Celtic game so huge credit to Alfred and the players for that. Let’s see if we can kick on in an incredibly tight league.
  27. I had the pleasure of meeting up with Stevie Kirk and his good lady at a local supermarket yesterday. They're in rude health and we had a long chat.
