If JBA wants the Celtic job or any other big move, he knows the best way to get it would be to win the league, or take us as close to the top as possible. He looks and sounds pretty single minded to me, and the players have that cut about them too. They've been like a machine the past few weeks, while others have faltered.
-
Cant stand him but yip hope he does us a turn and gets a few sent off! 🤣
-
Based on my Facebook feed looks like the media(?) ramping up JBA for Celtic next season. Living here, in the land of conspiracy theories, I’m immediately thinking this is a ploy to unsettle our players for the run in to the league championship. 😡

I was talking more about a team where everything just gels, players loving playing, fans are loving watching and everybody is having a blast. It's a rare situation, and one they should savour. Of course they will want to get more money and status etc. but enjoying games and winning can be quite enjoyable too. Can you imagine what a slog it it would have been for JT if Blackburn had quadrupled his wages and he went to play in a team struggling for points? Don't underestimate European football though. Just because a few fans are jaded and would rather play Clyde at NDP at the start of the season, I guarantee plenty of players would enjoy it - and fancy their chances of making it to the group stages. Much like SOD, who despite having international caps, and played in the Euros, would still love to play for us at Hampden in the cup.
-
Does that mean he won't be able to play against us in the cup? What? Ah, never mind...
-
Good for him and his career he's at an age now he probably needs first team football or could just fade away. Our manager certainly doesn't fancy him and his dodgy fingers. Better off out on loan.
-
Release the Shinnie!
-
… and their midweek game Tonight to pick up some injuries and red cards 😃 edit: a draw or a loss for Utd will numerically confirm us as top 6
-
The Ox joins Dunfermline on loan until the end of the season.
-
Or on the other hand where would we be if we had appointed JBA at that time with that extra few months preparation time before the season started.
-
Its been that long I forgot ...🤪
-
Typo, I expect, but we have one.
-
Yeah I would . Playing shite football isn't forever as we are witnessing but a trophy win is and if anyone doesn't think we will play shite football again one day is delusional.
-
So you be happy with a season of eye bleeding shit fest football, in a relegation dogfight, with below average players and coaching staff, to get 3 or 4 good draws against some diddy teams and get lucky in a final. Yes we win a trophy but we are still left with the shit football and relegation fights for the 10 or 20 seasons after that till our next lucky season comes round...aye ok then. Improving the club and team etc year on year is the way forward then we have more chances to win trophies and as a bonus we dont have to watch the shite we have been used to in recent seasons.
-
its incredible how shite St Mirren have been over the last 45 years yet they have 3 Trophies in that time and we have **one. ALWAYS a huge source of annoyance to me so its Option A for me. **correction

The attraction of European Football is overrated as a motivating factor for people to stay. In football its money and status. If a big club comes in for any of our players and manager 99% certain they will go. Football fans seem to have some misty eyed notions and forget that Football is THEIR JOB and like all of us we move for the best remuneration and security for our families. European Football is a minor shiny bauble in the whole scheme of things and one that invariably results in two games out on your arse. What person in their right mind would knock back the financial security of a life time in "the hope" of maybe four European games instead of two.
-
I'd put my money on a European team for his next move. Possibly one that already plays his current style.
-
I can in a way see why he’s being touted for Celtic. Traditionally they’ve always been a team who play decent football and are a bit better to watch than Rangers who were always a “win at all cost regardless of style” type of club but there’s something in my head thinking that he can do without that hassle. He strikes me as a guy who wouldn’t put up with the toxic nonsense from their crowd which would then end up with him being a disliked figure. I see him going to England. I could see him working wonders with a good club in the championship. I’d think his life would be 100 times better there than dealing with Joe Bigot on a daily basis up here. or he can just stay with us and do what that Auxere manager did for years. Refuse to move to bigger jobs and turn his side into a champions league team….. that’d be my preferred option 🤣
-
I think it would be easier for them to buy into as they've seen what he's done with us they had a rough start under Ange but stuck with him because they could see the idea.
-
Also, do you think Celtic fans would be happy if they had the same start to the season that we did, drawing all those games while we we going through the growing pains of learning the system?
-
I don't think he'll be short of options either way however what he hopefully has done is make our job more attractive. If he leaves us in Europe with a strong squad obviously a few of those players will be sold but the club will be in a healthy position moving forward and can hopefully attract a good level of candidate. You do wonder had Wimmer not resigned how different a position the club would be in as I felt the early signs were promising under him as well.
-
I imagine JBA won't want anywhere he doesn't have complete control of team matters - which is why I'm doubtful Celtic will be the next move. He's no doubt well aware of the current shenanigans with the Board and the fans.
-
If Celtic or Copenhagen come in for him he will be gone (paricularly the latter). But Im not so sure some of the other names banded about will tempt him. I think he only moves in a summer window to a bigger club where he thinks he can replicate the success he has had in implementing his style with us. He wont want to risk any backward steps.
-
I'd love him to stay a couple years and build Motherwell into a club that resembles Bodo Glimt I just think in reality he'll lose a few key players in the summer and we're not likely going to give him much of the money from the sales, he's got no real affinity to the club other than he seems to be enjoying it and from the sounds of it is on a couple of clubs radar. (Celtic and Copenhagen if rumours are to be believed.)
-
It would be absolutely surreal if he stayed and turned us into the Scottish Bodo/Glimt. Not sure I would be able to cope with being that good! 😍😍😍
