Fuck it, who cares if we're seeded or not? lotta shite. I don't care who we draw.
- Today
-
Well done
-
They were possibly down the leagues then, he wouldn't have been supporting them at that point.

Thereโs definitely a time for the long ball or taking the chance of getting the ball into the box but thatโs what the players have to learn, making the right decision between retaining possession and taking a risk. Our normal over the past few years has involved no such decision making, itโs just been hoof the ball up and chase it.
-
Open draw after the round of 16 is it not? So they have to use the hot and cold or rough and smooth ball ploy to keep them apart

Its been a bugbear of mine for years how easily we gave the ball away. If the opposition don't have the ball they cant score. That's why I'm so interested to see how we fare this season. Will our goals against improve, what will we do if teams try to man mark us?? interesting times. -

LOL , thats exactly the clip I sent to my mate a couple of hours ago saying exactly the same thing. -
Every team that plays out from the back loses a goal like that - even the good ones like Liverpool. Brendan Rodgers had a point when he said that fans are quick to criticise when you lose a goal that way, but are quick to forget (or not even remember) when the long ball gets returned 10 seconds later for a goal - and that happens more often.

https://x.com/blackpoolfc/status/1949120298495664425?s=46&t=8C9VuM5V_21MGVj9jGzzoA you just know this will happen a few times this season but as the jam once said โthatโs entertainmentโ

Thats fine as far it goes. However could we cope defensively if Hearts play that type of game against us?
-
The only purpose of the seeding is to keep the Ugly sisters apart till the final, as the SFA /SPFL do all in their power to pander to them its a feckin nonsense. As far as I can tell the seeds are the 5 Euro teams plus Hearts, StJ and Partick.
-
What I'm saying about the seeding is that whether you like it or not, there's no point in worrying about it because our history shows it has made little (if any) difference to our progress in the competition. Personally, I think that by the time you reach the knockout stages in a cup competition there should be no seeding, but others may disagree. I'm not even a fan of the best runners up, tbh, but we just have to get on with it and keep winning.
-
Frankly (and I say this every year) seeding in the cup draw is a nonsense. It's not like it was in European football where every single team has has to go through the group stages so finishing first rather than second in the group should entitle you to some advantage. But even there, I'm a bit 'open draw, see what happens'. If the 'big teams' want to win the cup, they need to beat everyone else anyway...
-
Seeded you don't get Celtic Rangers Aberdeen or Hearts/Hibs last 16 most seasons. Play down the value of seeding if you like but it does give you a better route to the QF. The last 16 draw is a totally different animal if you are seeded. And, looking to your example, St Mirren away is better than Celtic etc away. Getting through the group is the main thing so job done. But given the advantages the top league team is given throughout the group stage, being unseeded in the next round is an opportunity missed.
-
Old Clichรฉ but true, luck of the draw!
-
We were unseeded last season and got Killie at home in the first knockout round. Season before, we were seeded and drew St Mirren away.
-
Looks like hearts thistle and StJ so weโll be hoping for thistle or saints at home but unlikely to happen.
-
I've supported Motherwell a long time we are never that lucky in cup draws, but any of those 3 would be a result.
-
Iโm sitting watching the hearts v Sunderland game and I have to say the way we have played in the past 2 games is miles more entertaining than this muck. Hearts keep launching the ball up the park and into Channels and Sunderland arenโt much better although are trying to play a wee bit.(they will be relegated by Xmas) i think im becoming Askou-ized
-
Or Alloa, Thistle or St Johnstone...
-
-
Other results today are not going for us, so its very unlikely we are going to be one of the 3 best group winners and be seeded. So away at one of the Premiership clubs in the last 16 is looming.

The Bluenose must have forgotten that they qualified from the same group as us the first year they changed the format in the 2016/17 competition.
