This is the pros and cons of loans system for clubs though isn’t it? we recalled Matty because of needing cover due to injury and Celtic are in similar position because the Man City player they had got recalled. yes arguably Celtic are in better position because Welsh has been getting game time and playing well so they have more than just a substitute/cover Personally I’m glad he performed for us rather than simply made up numbers as some loanees have done having said that we’ve also shown we can win without him so I thank him and move on.

News of his return to Celtic has their fans rubbing their hands in glee, not! Apparently he is not good enough for them and would be more useful staying with us to try and take points of Rangers and Hearts. From a personal point of view it cant be a good move for Welsh as he is unlikely to get regular playing time with them. This is the problem with loan deals. Ok for very short term but can cause problems down the line. Celtic seem desperate, disorganised and clueless just now with transfer dealings. So if they come calling for our own players, double our asking price.

Loan players are always a high risk which is the main reason I hate using them. in my opinion loan should be for young players only or a specified fixed contract time ie end of season.

Think they are more likely to move him on. If not Aberdeen, his performances for us will have alerted others. That said. given that Celtic's central defence is a shambles and Carter Vickers is out injured he might get his chance. They also loaned Inamura back to Japan despite having given him a 4 year deal in the summer. Askou will sort it out. With SOD injured and Balmer likely on his way I hope we get two central defenders in fairly quickly. The Watt to Rangers rumour is also gathering pace although his injury is delaying matters so I am told. At least with Watt we have a say in matters.

That would be funny if they didn't get him.

100% JBA has contingency plans for January. Whether or not they can be implemented depends on the market, but I imagine he has plans in place for the defence even if we don't sign any additions.

You'd like to think we've had alternatives identified for the expected departure of Welsh

Not good news, hopefully we have a contingency plan. edit: normally I wouldn’t bother about a loan player leaving but I do like Welsh and think both him and Motherwell were a good fit. Feel sorry for him going back to being a bit part player.

A central defender added to our shopping list? Presumably we've been preparing for this scenario.

Lord Hamilton colours

Looks like we had Stephen Welsh to this list. Celtic have recalled him apparently

I did a quick google search on racing colours once before and the Lord Hamilton colours I found from around that time were either Red & White or Blue. Hardly definitive, so will be interesting to hear the definitive answer from the Jockey Club.

Ive always liked Luca Ross. I think he is the kind if player that would do well 8n this squad. Problem is, how does he get game time when our midfield/ attacking options are so strong? Still only 19 though, which seems incredible given how long he has been on the periphary.....

I’d rather have had rangers on 42 and Aberdeen on 26 than rangers being on 44.

This game shouldnt be any significant problem. However, I am concerned how many players may be missing. Kettlewell will concede possession to us. We just need to keep an eye on Jordan White and Hale. As long as we dont turn up with a team of reserves and JT brings his shooting boots we should be fine.....

Unlike most years, this year we have a team that absolutley can beat anyone in Scotland on our day. We have the tools available to actually win the cup this year. We cant take any team or any round for granted. Should be hitting this as our strongest possible side!

I actually have an enquiry pending at the Jockey Club regarding Lord Hamilton of Dalzell's racing colours. In my defence, I am retired and don't get out much, apart from my visits to Fir Park and GP 😱. Sometimes on holiday I have encounter Bradford City fans who are convince we nicked their colours, so i would like something categorical about our beautiful c&a.

Start our strongest team and hopefully is cruising give mcallister and Ross game time. We cant treat opposition lightly but hoping we absolutely pump them for obvious reasons
