  1. Past hour
  2. Back in July I took a few pelters when I said that, given we were never going to win the league, what I hoped for was to be entertained by the team. Turns out there were a few more that wanted the same as me.
  3. McGlynn seems to be more tactically astute than the other managers we've faced for a second time, so it will be interesting to see how he sets Falkirk up, as he clearly made the right changes to turn thimgs around when they played us at FP.
  4. My ticket hasn’t arrived through the post so I am expecting to pick something up at Falkirk.
  5. Today
  6. I meant to write "punditry" 😱. Apologies.
  7. Fair play to our Chairman and Board for recognising that and actually procuring managers with the right ethos. Easier said than done, but by Christ have they delivered so far.
  8. Im unable to click on any of the links in news articles, or even select the text to paste it in a browser. The Livingston game is back on the fixture list though, so progress.
  9. Agree with a lot of the above. I began in 1962, after Ian St John and Pat Quinn had left the club, but there was still the belief in the Bobby Ancell philosophy of quick passing and movement and what might call "pure football". In those days there was a certain pride in supporting such a team, which had famously gubbed Rangers 2-5 in a Scottish Cup replay at Ibrox (the awful 0-1 defeat to Airdrieonians at FP in the next round was claimed by some to be one reason Sinjy agreed to a move to Liverpool). Our manager seems to have a similar philosophy based on more progressive continental ideas and he seems to have annoyed a section of Scottish pundrity by having the temerity to buck the trend for smaller clubs to grind out results, relying on physicality and set-piece routines to avoid the spectre of relegation. I am Sure J-B will stay true to his principles and that he will strengthen the club gradually by shrewd recruitment (no other way for a club of our size). Our midfield is the best I can remember, our defence has been strengthened significantly by Welsh (who was faultless against Hearts and has excellent distribution from the back) and if we can develop a striker in-house or find one in January (unlikely) to score regularly we could cement our top four place. The increase in our attendances shows that fans have an appetite for such creative football as opposed to the usual "hod-carrier" stuff practised by many Scottish clubs. It will be interesting to see how such teams adapt when they play us in the second half of the season. Strap yourselves in for an exciting ride (I hope).
  10. While my post was slightly tongue in cheek, we've played everyone and I can see nothing to fear in anyone we've played. No-one has come close to dominating us (except Celtic) and remember this 'transformation' is only really a few months in and JBA hasn't yet had a full window to work in. We are as good as anyone in the league, possibly lacking the depth of Celtic, but that's it. There's no reason we can't stay at the top end of the league. Only thing we have against us is history.
  11. The media team is getting better no?
  12. I am loving this season and fact team applauded off park on Saturday shows how much fans are appreciating style. I still feel we are trying one pass too many and decision making at times not great ( Said is great entertainer but final pass needs worked on). We have a manager that fears no one and players have bought into it. I also feel we are a very attractive proposition for future transfer targets. And finally can be summed up with fact we sold our star man for £4.5 million and it hasn't impacted us in the slightest. Would have been interesting seeing Lennon in that team, I think a season under Jens would have been great for him but obviously we wouldn't have got that transfer fee COYW
  13. We're winning the fucking league mate !! I've been watching Mothewell since 1974 (and slightly less regularly since 1972) and this is like no other Mothewell team I've ever seen. We had a couple of excellent teams in that time (Davie Hay's team, but we were 2nd tier) and Tommy McLean's last season and some of the ginger twat's first season before he totally ruined it. McCall's second place team were actually an awful football team to watch and Robinson's double finalists were second ball winning throw it forward in style. This Motherwell is better than any of them at football ! (Ok, maybe not 😂 )
  14. So need 3 wins and a draw from the remaining 4 to get 17 points. Not impossible but certainly a big ask for Motherwell, going 10 games without defeat
  15. Not to turn this into a Scotland discussion but the centre backs Clarke turns to are utterly brutal. Hanley, Hendry, Souttar and McKenna and Porteous before them….. are all an absolute hazard. Welsh is a much more accomplished player than any of these guys but as you say, Clarke wants centre half’s to win headers, block challenges and launch it….. technically clever and good footballing defenders are not his thing. if he does want those no nonsense types of centre half’s the 2 guys at Hearts are better than any of his go to guys above.
  16. v1.01 seems to have resolved a number of the visibility issues I was having. Still thinks I have no active subscription to the Society. Like others mentioned, I think it would have been easier to keep everything linked if you logged in with your membership number.
  17. Remember, you heard it here first....
  18. Welsh has looked very good for us so far. But its still a small sample size and very much in the context of who came before. He is also the right shaped peg for the way we play right now. I wouldnt expect to drop him into the Scotland squad and see the same levels of performance. That said, its not a position we are blessed with a multitude of riches, so if he could maintain his form (and stay fit) until March, I wouldnt be against seeing what he could do. Hanley is fine if we are playing backs to the wall and you just want someone to head and kick it. But if we have to play out from the back he is much more limited. McKenna for me is much better in that position, but if something happens to him there isnt really a naturally left sided replacement. I certainly dont think Welsh would be any worse than Hendry, who seems to be the accepted back up for Souttar on the right.
  19. Aye 8 from the remaining 4 would be excellent meaning we would have taken 15/21 available. If we do that I dont think we should be overly worrying about the ugly sisters either. Rangers were rotten last night and Celtic can be gotten at away from home as well. We dont want to get cocky. But no reason we shouldnt be confident going into games against anyone right now. Very strange feeling!
  20. Email the club SLO, they will likely take uncollected tickets to Falkirk
  21. Listened to the draw and got a wee bit worried - 4 ties still to be drawn and 6 premier clubs + 2 championship left. what will we get???? Remarkably, a home tie against the weakest team left in the draw. Are the stars lining up for us at long last!!!! 🤞🤞
  22. I’d accept 8 from the remaining games but 9,10 or 12 isn’t unthinkable which is phenomenal to be able to even think about that happening.
  23. That idiot should have been looking at this game and seeing the difference between Hanley and Welsh, should have been thinking I’d maybe be best to give Welsh a game in the next friendly to see how he fits in. Unfortunately he’ll stick with Hanley.
  24. Indeed, 3 ties between premier league teams. All 3 which could go either way. Tricky one for Hibs at Dunfermline. Aberdeen not a gimmie against Raith. Similar for Dundee Utd versus Ayr. so while we can’t be complacent we should be confident and you’re right, coukd have been worse
  25. If we were going up there Id be more concerned. Having them on our patch, Im far more confident of getting a result. They generally dont travel too well and Jens will have us properly prepared. Not the easiest draw, but far from the worst when you see some of the other ties!
  26. Yesterday
  27. I hope Longello picks it up a bit as he was a great asset with his attacking play. I do wonder, as someone mentioned, if JBA has reined him in a bit to keep us a bit more secure at the back? He certainly is not as decisive amd direct on the ball as he was earlier in the season. If he keeps playing then we know JBA is happy with his performances.
