  1. Past hour
  2. True, but at least 25th is an anniversary that isn't uncommon to celebrate.
  3. You say that, but then we had that random Scottish Cup 25th anniversary top a few years back.
  4. The BBC showing their excellent in-depth knowledge of Scottish football yet again. With our lineup, they have SODs at left back, Sparrow at right back and Longelo at right wing / midfield.
  5. You were close. sparrow in and Said to come off the bench.
  6. Today
  7. Fully expecting the officials to shaft us again today.
  8. 140 is a pretty meaningless anniversary in the grand scheme of things, so I wouldn't build my hopes up.
  9. Get intae this mob from the first minute
  10. I think JBA in the press conference said that Koutroumbis and Thor are back in training so hopefully we will see them soon. Time is running out for the season though. I think as you have suggested the Hibs game will be the most important so hopefully they are fit then.
  11. Wonder if any plans for 140th anniversary kit
  12. I look forward to our annual 2-1 win at Ibrox. Team for me should be : Ward SOD McGinn Welsh Longelo Watt Fadinger Just Slattery Said Maswanhise
  13. For once im not optimistic of us getting any thing today. Going on our recent form this game has a controversial VAR assisted decision for Rangers to get the the win they need written all over it. I really would like to be proved wrong but i have the fear, its not going to be our day.
  14. So, RCC and Slattery are back in contention, which is good news. However, its concerning that Koutroumbis and Thor are still not back in training. Will we see much of them before the season draws to a close? Results wise, I believe that today's derby in Edinburgh will be of more importance to us than our own game in Glasgow. At a minimum, no red cards or injuries please.
  15. Quite a good result for us yesterday with Celtic winning. Rangers will be under a bit of pressure to win and their fans will be edgy. If we can keep them quiet and nick a goal they’ll go into full meltdown. My morning of game positivity is strong….1-0 Motherwell.🤣
  16. Yesterday
  17. Apart from all the great goals Willie Pettigrew scored (often against Celtic), one of his greatest feats (imo) was scoring four against Dundee at Dens Park (a young Gordon Strachan and all) in a 3-6 victory. He and Bobby Graham ran riot that day. As for tomorrow, I expect to get little from the referee in front of the baying hordes of Castle Grayskull, even though I think we are good enough to beat them (think of the foul on Fadinger in the last minute of our game at Christmas against Rangers, for example). I think Mr Slattery can expect some "incoming". I noticed Jens mentioned the importance of getting the right refereeing decisions in his pre-match press conference. Unfortunately this might be a further red rag to our "double-down" (and often vindictive) officialdom.
  18. Hes just had a goal disallowed for offside, Kipre not Thompson 😁
  19. Come on Lesmahagow🏆 Good friend of my Dad's was a guy called Davie . His son Dean Muir both a player and manager for Bellshill so I will be delighted if they win that league
  20. Kipre just booked for Ipswich and it flashed up that's his 11th yellow this season. Is Craig Thompson refereeing doon there?
  21. I always assumed that I am one of the really old timers on this forum but when many of you are sharing memories of Ancell babes I realise that I am just a young thing. Willie Pettigrew was my first Motherwell hero and that was in the late 1970's when I would sneak in to watch the last quarter of games for free after they opened the big terracing gates. I am feeling good about tomorrow. I think the team will return to form and the bad luck with decisions has to change at some point even if it is Rangers at Ibrox. Biggest thing is to avoid getting any players sent off or making challenges in the box that give the referee a decision to make ( I know that is so much easier send than done). Take some of the chances we create and it will put Rangers under real pressure.
  22. Few players can say they doubled as Chief Executive while still pulling on the shirt. Former Motherwell winger Pat Nevin could, in theory, have been dropped as a player — then dismissed the manager who dropped him. Hear Pat’s stories live at the Motherwell FC 140th Gala Dinner. 23. I think he has benefited with the obvious time spent coaching him by the manager to play a totally different game from which he and other keepers are used to . Made a few bad mistakes in the first part of the season ,until he got used to things . Fair play to him he has adapted well. But now lots of teams are playing this way with keeper well up the park. Good shot stopper , no so good at positioning and comming for corners tho. Would be happy to keep him or sell if good offer comes in.
  24. As a wee boy I always looked out for Charlie's blond hair at corners, since he was so good with his head. Of course sometimes Andy Weir would score directly from them anyway and save Charlie the trouble. A truly great Motherwell player ignored by the selectors? That would never happen! 🤣
  25. I was one of Ward’s biggest critics at the start of the season, but credit where it’s due. He’s not just a keeper benefitting from a good team, he’s a key part of why it’s good.
