It's often a challenge for young keepers to break through at their parent club. You can see that across the leagues. As a result, until they hit their late twenties or older, a keeper's career seems to be a series of loans or training every week as 2nd or 3rd choice. It's a tough gig. I don't think Connelly in the Hibs game was any worse than the first few performances from Ward, so I still think he can develop into a decent keeper.

I tend to agree pal. Desperate for Matty to succeed but after a good few years I wonder if he’s best moving to get regular action
-
Grizzly unfortunatly matty connolly has no presense going forward i think he will move on only my opinion though
-
You have quoted a former player, how dare you? This is the usa food forum 🤣🤣

You can't beat an East Neuk dressed crab. No whitefish landed here now as it all comes from Peterheid. Anyways, I see St Mirren have signed Eseola Sole.

It's Italian food I'm fed up with here. The vast majority of local restaurants are some variation of Italian cuisine. Don't have to travel too far for a better choice, but not as convenient. When I was working in an actual office we had everything from Spanish and Turkish, to Sushi, Indian and 2 Peruvian places all a short walk away.

That’s the only time I’ve ever had it. I prefer a special fish supper though 😀 we have a restaurant near by us that serves chowder fries. Basically a plate of Fries with a bowl of clam chowder poured over them.

It's nice once in a while, but along with clam chowder seems to appear on every menu in every restaurant in New England. One of my favourite seafood dishes is from a local joint that serves shrimp stuffed with crab meat that you dip in melted butter. I like soft shell crab too.

I had scrod at Union Oyster House in Boston when I was there for the game a few weeks back. Delicious.

With a good few folk residing in the states this chat is turning into an episode of Diners.....Drive-In's.......and Dives!! 😝😝

Glad to see the club have moved fairly quickly to sign up on loan Alex! Welcome to the best wee team in the world! Alex looks to have good statistics and at first glance a good addition for us as No 1 and Ox or Connolly as back up. Hopefully now we see new additions in defence, midfield and strikers quickly to roll the new boys out on Friday night and all in place before the potential Euro banana skin!

I ask myself the same question Dave, I reckon it's more USA cuisine and less the ingredients

How can you possibly be fed up with sea food?
-
True, but it feels different now because the bar has already been set so high for AJ after JBA and the team’s success last season.
-
Close enough to Cajun and Creole country, so lots of great food depending on your preferences. From grits and collard greens to jambalaya and chitlins. Red beans and rice is my favourite with skillet corn bread. After testing out loads of recipes I make a mean version myself with Andouille sausage, Tasso ham and "the trinity". Seafood too, of course - lots of blackened fish, but not a Boston scrod in sight.

That college is about 15 mins from my street, about 4hrs away.

Is the food any better? Asking for a friend who's fed up with sea food

He's not in the squad, but on the roster as a freshman. How American does that sound? https://www.gochoctaws.com/sports/mens-soccer/roster He'll be in the deep south. A world apart from life here in New England.

Seems to be agile and a very good shot stopper. Apparently played outfield early in his career and looks to be comfortable with the ball at his feet. Likes to save penalties as well. Should be a good fit for our system. At first sight similar to Callum Ward, even down to the transfer fee. Not the biggest keeper in the world and I doubt he'll make it in the Premier League but good enough to help us out in our hour or season of need. There's bucketloads of very good keepers in England so he'll have plenty of competition if he returns down there. I always think that loans can be risky but in our situation, we probably didn't have much choice. I suspect he'll be our no 1 and therefore I feel sorry for Matty Connelly but I can't ever see him being anything more than back up at best for us.

We had nearly 2 years of Alexanderball before Sligo, so I dont think quite the same thing. But would be a horrendous start nonetheless.....
-
Same quality's as Ward biggest asset is passing it out to start things off hopefully will be better than Ward in the other departments.

Good luck to young Harry. He has seen an opportunity and is going for it. He deserves credit for taking a less standard path but one which offers benefits beyond football. As for his language skills, all he has to do is slow his speech down slightly. I had to do the same when I move to NZ.
