A good way to improve fitness is to play games.
-
Assuming we dont make anymore signings/have anyone fit enough this would be the team I suspect we'd play on Thursday Gk - Paulsen Defenders - wilson. Moorman. Reich koutroumbis ( really hope its not luca ross as he aint a defender) Midfield - priestman fadinger. Whyte ( not convinced vogts fit enough to start) Attackers - said, just and RCC

That Old Chestnut - Do We Move Or Do We Stay
joewarkfanclub replied to Kmcalpin's topic in Club Chat
I agree. I dont think fans need a lot of information. But something along the lines of "the club have received these reports and it will take some time to digest the information contained. Meanwhile we will embark on a process to replace the seats in the POD to ensure we can continue to use it for UCL games. The work is scheduled for.....and is due for completion by......" Silence just allows fans to fill the blanks for themselves. -
I hope so Dave, as the team that started against Genk was all over the place.

I just wonder how the "upgrading" to seating in the POD fits in with our long term stadium plans. Its been quite some time now since the Directors announced that they had commissioned, and received, a consultants' report on the pros and cons of moving to a new stadium. No doubt they have now digested and considered the contents. Clearly the current replacement of seats is a sticking plaster job, unfortunately literally, as well as metaphorically. From early fan feedback it seems to have been mishandled in term of comfort and practicalities. I just wonder why this wasn't carried out a wee bit earlier? From online comments, it seems that our home capacity is being cut to around 7,500, if my understanding is correct. In saying that, I don't know if we can use the South Stand for home fans. If our crowd is limited then it could cost us some income over 1, hopefully 2 or more Euro games. Well into 5 figures in total. Presumably the project will be completed by our first home league game against Falkirk? Looking at the big picture, I do wonder if the POD will be replaced, as opposed to relocating to a new stadium. If so, the current seating "upgrade" looks like a budget, but still expensive, emergency measure to keep the POD on life support. A wee bit more transparency on this issue would have been welcome a month or two ago. Maybe when our European spot, and seating implications were confirmed? Better late than never though.

Based on the way he was announced I think he was brought into play CB
-
A fair assessment. I'm not yet sure where Girdwood-Reich fits in - defence or midfield; so that clouds matters slightly. I wonder how much longer McGinn can go on and sadly McGhee seems to be a permacrock. I reckon we're looking at another CB. LB? competition needed for Longelo and Wilson to go out on loan. CM? replacement for Watt. Whyte to replace Nicholson/Halliday. AM: yes 2 players required to replace Just & Slattery. Striker? yes one more required In total I'd say about 6 are required but this is also complicated by Academy youngsters potentially breaking through. Sadly, I don't think Ross is going to make it and may go out on loan. I've a suspicion, based on absolutely nothing it has to be said, that we might be looking at another goalie at some point.

I think before the season starts we probably need to bring in another 7-8 players - CB (Need another one for cover until McGinn and McGhee are fit (Ideally a loan) or promote Thompson who I thought looked pretty decent against Genk but obviously lacks exposure to senior football - LB (Potentially need 2 depending on Longelo's future and Wilson isn't for me) - CM (Watt needs replaced, Whyte to fill Halliday's squad slot) - AM (Again going to need 2 Slattery is gone and Just will sadly follow) Booth/McAllister appear to be AM's but not sure either are ready. Should probably use our co-op loan partners to get them some minutes. - ST (Stama and Maswanhise will leave, Hendry is injured and Thor doesn't seem to be fit) -If i'm being greedy we could also do with a Winger as neither Vogt or Ross fill me with loads of confidence if Said/RCC get injured
-
Not sure he is a direct replacement, but we have seen Oscar and Fadinger play very well together at the base of the midfield, so it is at least a known quantity. We probably still need a back up in there for injuries and suspensions, but that could well be one of our academy players as there certainly seems to be a huge emphasis on youth development coming through the clubs communications this season, whether it be talking about the manager or just the squad in general. Id still like a Watt replacement though as last season all 3 got plenty minutes.

According to Gavin McCafferty: Thor, Longelo, Koutroumbis and TJ all have a chance of playing next Thursday evening.
-
Looking at his career history, he's basically signed for us from the equivalent of Ayr United or Queen of the South. And maybe he was looking at the East Stand because his last club sees crowds anywhere between 800-1100, and as low as 500. He might have been staring in wonderment in the same way as a former Motherwell player would if they signed for West Brom or Middlesbrough. EDIT: I should say, none of that means he won't turn out to be a good player for us.
-
2M in the bank and we already have his replacement in Priestman
-
Probably not long after the second pay cheque bounces. Although in all seriousness, hopefully his stint there goes very well. He did well for us.
-
I hope he does well but not to sound salty, he’s not exactly set the heather on fire anywhere in his career until last season and clearly JBA got the best out him. We’ve seen it before KVV, Theo Bair….. even Ward, get them for nothing, give them a new lease of life and punt them for a good amount before they start to underperform. i sort of feel the same about JT, I felt the dip in his performance last season was drastic. The only player I see moving and getting better is Just. Just in my view is our real class act.
-
Yeah, we have, and what happens 6 months or a year down the line doesn't concern us (unless there's a sell on clause, obviously).
-
To be honest pal we have made £1.7 million profit so that's main thing but need replacement in
-
Most folk didnt even get that far......after one word...🤣🤣
-
Glad it's done and we can move on,to get nearly £2million for a guy that most of us probably said last summer why are we signing him is great business but there's no denying he was brilliant for us and will be missed, having all this money in the bank is all well and good but we really need to see more incomings and good ones at that.
-
Stick that 4 game ban to sfa now! I don't think they would be as petty in Turkey.
-
He does but Goodman could be quick , this guys was blowing out his arse after 20 mins. Can only hope hes just not fit. If so why play him.
-
He even runs like Don Goodman.
-
Wonder how long it'll be before he washes back up in Glasgow.
-
Most of us worked that out after the first joke.
-
Looks like Don Goodman but based on that 30 mins it could be Ken Goodwin ..... unfair I know, gotta give the guy time but he does not look or move like an athletic guy.
-
usual undisclosed fee, however €2M (£1.7m approx.) being mentioned online by various sources.
