  1. Past hour
  2. Nancy didn’t want him as he wanted some guy who played as a centre back with his MLS team. As far as what I heard Welsh was told 2 days before he was recalled back that he was allowed to stay at Motherwell for the rest of the season. Motherwell were told this and then told he was getting recalled. I think it’s more of doing the dirty on the player rather than us. Just a poor way to treat someone who ultimately isn’t wanted by their parent club. but as mentioned above, I’d much prefer a permanent CB to be signed and is OUR player rather than loan deals.
  3. I think Slats might be the one to leave. He'll have been with us for 5 years in the summer and if he is looking to play elsewhere, he's at the right age for a move. Be delighted if he stayed, though.
  4. Ok that’s Jack and Victor signed up, let’s get Slats signed up now.
  5. Nice to see some sensible posts now and again 😂 Actually, I found it hard to believe that they didn’t recall him when Nancy was there.
  6. Agreed. I was never in doubt that SOD has some football in him, but I did have some doubts about a few of his managers letting him show it. He seems like a great leader off the pitch, too.
  7. Very much this. The point of a loan is to get a player some game time and improve their prospects of a starting slot at the parent club, or garner some interest in the transfer market. We got the benefit in the first half of the season, but any time a loan player succeeds the chance of them being recalled significantly increases.
  8. Exactly this. Celtic are only doing what I hope we would do in a similar position. Having a look at Welsh in training to assess whether he would fit in to the team, is better than they currently have, is better than anyone they can bring in. If none of those apply send him back out on Loan. I hope he does play against AT. That way I understand he could not go on Loan to anyone but us. And if some team wants to buy him outright and pay his full wages then so be it. All this 'Celtic are doing the dirty on us and Welsh' is just nonsense.
  9. As much as I like Welsh, I'd rather see news of us signing a CB soon, otherwise we'll have to do it all again in a few months.
  10. Very pleased Stephen has signed the contract extension , been an excellent servant to our club
  11. Yip - excellent piece of business. Definitely wouldn't have said that 18 months ago. Well deserved SOD keep up the good work.
  12. Hopefully We’ll see news of Celtic signing a CB soon
  13. Today
  14. SOD signs new deal till Summer 2027. Delighted for him, such a loyal servant who has never hid despite the ridiculous stick he got last season at times. Been immense this season. That's what happens when you have a manager that allows you to play and express yourself instead of just saying 'lump it forward' Well done SOD
  15. And this is the man that left club due to 'personal abuse', sums him up.
  16. Maybe they will, but they could just as easily stipulate in the loan contract that he cant play in the cup, they dont need to be sneaky about it. I think its as simple as they had a deadline of Jan 14th to recall him, or we'd have him for the season, while the window is open until Feb 2nd. So it makes sense to call him back so that they have all options available to them, knowing they can loan him out on deadline day if needed.
  17. They may well do, but it wouldn't make much sense. He couldn't play against them in the cup either way.
  18. I’m never sure who has final say in these matters if it’s club or player. Does it depend on contract wording, or Is it always the player who decides if they want to go along with what club wants or can club just tell them, “we’re still paying your wages (or part of them) so you are going on loan to XYZ” or they can tell player they are being transferred, although i would think, with respect to being sold, the player could decline or at least demand the wages for rest of his contract?
  19. Last 5 games he scored 8. Stats for the season seem to be played 29 scored 15. Suggests maybe he is a player whose role is to hold the ball up the field and allow midfield runners like Said Just and TM to run beyond. Dont know much about the level he was playing at but the addition of players is always to be welcomed. Hopefully they can get it over the line if it helps JBA and the master plan.
  20. I bet they’ll play him against Auchinleck and then punt him back to us so he’s cup tied.
  21. Not if they're selling him. If they punt him back out on loan, maybe.
  22. Have you ever thought about being a VAR operator?
  23. Who cares if it's off side or not. It didn't affect us.
  24. Does anyone know how many tickets we've sold so far? It would be great to hit the 5,000 mark.
  25. The goal he scores after the opposition goalkeeper is caught upfield, around 2 minutes 30 seconds in, looks offside to me.
