  3. Today
  4. Steady now. Let's not get carried away it was only a win over a shite Aberdeen team that hadn't scored in 5 games ..šŸ™„
  5. I’m hoping we can keep all or most of our players (and manager too, of course) into next season at least. Even Just once, it would be great to see us playing well, qualify for Europe and compete in Europe with same Players that got us there and not a whole new team.
  6. Not technically true. He did stop on multiple occasions to smell his own farts.
  7. Stuart Kettlewell once spoke for 13 games without taking a breath.
  8. It was 1930, so yes. We were quite good back then
  9. I didn’t vote for Ward but other than the punch late on I thought he had a pretty solid game, coming out to gather a few cross balls
  10. Cheers bud. Saw both of them at the time. I agree. Very Good. And big Thewliss is a great interviewer / presenter!
  11. The first podcast was about Wimmer. The second podcast was about our chairman. Both of those podcasts are fantastic as well.
  12. Every transfer is a gamble. We got £1.7m last year for a striker that cost us nothing. Kettlewell gets a lot of credit for that, but he also signed Ross Callachan, Stuparevic and Nicholson. Given that Jens didnt sign Stama and he has had a pretty big rebuild job on his hands, I think he and the club need to be given a little bit of slack on the £800k thing. Its all well and good to say we shoulda took the money, but you still need to replace him. We tried with Hendry, Sule and Osong and right now Stama is the only one even half fit for purpose, and thats before we even work out how much of the £800k was coming to us as profit. Also, the player has to want to move as well......
  13. Are you new around here?!?! My thoughts on Stamatelopolous are like yours, somewhere in the middle.. He's missed some chances that I think he should have taken but has not looked like the total dud some are convinced he is (and feel they have to come on and point out after every game). Some of the instinctive goals he scored last season suggested there was a player there. This season has been disappointing for him but I'm not writing him off...
  14. Are we really jumping on BBC reporting to re-inforce a point? He spurned 2 chances. Neither of which were actual sitters. He may turn out not to be the striker we are looking for, but lets at least stay objective about it.
  15. Our longest unbeaten run is 30 games (according to Wikipedia), so I suspect at least one of them has.
  16. Absolutely fantastic presentation. Just reinforces that we have the right people in charge now and are heading in the right direction. Its a really good time to be a Motherwell fan right now!
  17. The media are beginning to notice our lack of an effective no 9, with the quote below from the BBC "A more clinical striker would have put this game to bed as Apostolos Stamatelopoulos spurned several chances," "Spurned several chances" i really hope that's not his tag line for the season.
  18. I hope you’re right too. But the longer this goes on, the more that reported Ā£800K valuation will be gone by the end of the season, which is year two of his three-year contract. Then what? We’re just going to have to write off an expensive loss.
  19. That was about the only good thing Stama did yesterday, and RCC could not finish it. Credit where it is due, he made a smart run in behind and delivered a good pass, but I cannot help thinking that if it had been KVV, Moult, or Bair, they would have buried it themselves instead of squaring it. To me, that says it all. He is not a proper centre forward.
  20. I totally agree that Stama should have scored more goals than he has this season. The header in the second half yesterday, the one he just failed to connect with (which was similar to the one at Dundee last week where he hurt himself) are all good examples. But he is doing a lot right and has also been a bit unlucky with some of his chances (the header in the first half yesterday which was cleared of the line). His run and pass to RCC yesterday was also excellent and should have resulted in a goal. Im not aiming this at you specifically, but there is a desire in modern society to want things immediately and there is very little patience shown for anything, particularly in the footballing world (see The Rainjurs). We saw it with Higdon and Sutton when they arrived, more recently with Bair and now Stama. I get that he has been with us for over a year now, but he had a lot to contend with last season and this is the first real run at the team he has had. He is working hard, his hold up play is good and he is getting into good areas. I agree he should be doing that more and probably a bit earlier than he has been, but like a lot of our other players yesterday, mistakes will be made and I wouldnt expect to see the best version of us for a few months yet (which is why this is all pretty exciting). Like you say, there is nothing we can do about it now until January, so we need to hope that Stama does indeed develop or that Hendry can get fit and challenge him for his place and maybe push him on. The good thing is that regardless of how many he scores we still have goals in the team. By January we should know whether he is gonna be another Moult or just a Connor Shields......
  21. Agree with you that’s it’s two way street and not for a minute am I saying he’s proving to be a great asset at the moment . Theres no debate re him missing chances as the stats are the stats . He has missed and fluffed his lines and yes we should expect a decent goal return . my impression (which is subjective and could be wrong ) is he has ability and really struggling for confidence . I suspect once he gets a goal or 2 he’ll bang in a decent return . Hope I’m right and equally concerned that the longer the drought the tougher it becomes to turn it around
  22. This is one of the common comments about Stama that I really disagree with. It’s a two-way street. He’s had plenty of good service, only to fluff his lines or be caught on his heels. A better centre forward would also find more space and make penetrating runs that create better opportunities, allowing teammates to provide even better service.
  23. Whilst I think its extremely unlikely, what you can say is that from St Johnstone and Aberdeen in the Cup and 5 league games we have been the better team in every game. I can't remember a time where I could say that about a Motherwell team facing hard opponents.
  24. With the quality we have in the team and a little bit of luck I could see us winning the cup. The OF are as poor as I can remember and realistically no team to fear. I'm not saying it's likely but it's certainly possible and I really don't care who we get in the semi final, id rather face the OF in a semi than in a final tbh. Re needing other strikers , this is where we all see the game differently. We have more than enough forward players in our ranks. As for AP I don't think he's playing poorly, I more see a guy who's lost confidence. He did well yesterday to square it for RCC and had a very good then a very poor header. He just needs a couple of goals to get going. He also needs better service. Appreciate not everyone see's it this way but that's the beauty of football and these forums.
