As soon as SK signed Bair, he gave a press conference saying he was his "project" because he thought he saw potential in him and could coach him in to being a productive striker. People might not like Kettlewell, but it doesn't mean 100% of what he did was wrong. He was spot on with Bair and did make him productive and turned a nice profit for the club when he was moved on. I wouldn't want him back as a manager, but he did have some successes and we don't need to rewrite history to pretend he didn't. As others have said, recruitment is a collaboration at our level. From the data analysts to the manager and coaches, from the agents to the Chairman and CEO. Even the other players and club staff can help.

I dont like SK, but that's pretty revisionist. The manager deserves as much credit for developing a player that is a success under him, just as he has to take his share of the blame of someone os shite. Maswanhise played most of the season under SK/Wimmer, and scored 5 or 6 goals. Naturally he has gotten better, with a full season of top level football under his belt, a better manager, and better players around him. However, he was hardly an undiscovered diamond when JBA turned up. Bair wasn't ignored by SK, he was behind Biereth (understandably) and no-one was arguing with him being a backup. The fact that he went on the run he did should be kudos for rhe manager, it was him that gave Bair the chance and set things up to get the best out of him. SK also said that he saw something in Bair that he thought he could use when he signed him, and he has a track record with Ross Stewart and KVV. Johnny K was a bad one, he got injured and SK gave up on him. It has been said a few times by the various folk at the club that recruitment is a collaborative effort, and it should be. I'm sure managers have pitched folk (Fadinger, Just for example), and I'm sure the recruitment team have brought a few to the manager, but I'd be very surprised if they didn't have veto power should they not want someone.

Should he get credit? Our recruitment department signed Bair, who was deemed not good enough by our manager until he had no option to play him as all our other strikers were injured. Bair hit purple patch and got his move. JT was offered to us by his agent and on recommendations from our own players was signed up. He again was hardly used. Jens and our current coaches have improved him not Kettlewell. Also the fact he refused to play Johnny and had little communication with McGhee apparantly, you wonder how much they and alot of our signings are club dictated. Kettlewell will claim credit of course. But i dont hear him owning up to the mess he left us and Killie in. He is a limited coach who got lucky.
-
He definitely deserves credit for Bair and Maswanhise, I will give him that. However that's all he's getting 🤪🤪

Last season was probably 6-7M but Miller was most of that. Only other players we could of got money for was probably Slattery and Sparrow purley of the fact they'd both scored 6/7 goals from WB or Cm

What was the squad worth last season ? A tiny fraction of that Its our manager that has turned it into a multi million pound squad if your valuations are correct or even in the ball park all credit goes to him , i would think. His leadership , man management and style are fantastic But who was it that scouted and signed TJ in the first place , Kettlewell the shite manager with a thin skin who’s brand of football is awful. But thats two nobody strikers he signed, Bair and TJ they have turned into million pound plus players for us. Shite manager who put us in trouble but looks like he made us a good profit from both of them. He did sign shite ones as well . Just saying. Bet Grizlyg is still raging tho.

I agree Just is our best player and would be the most difficult to replace. I feel as good as Maswanhise is we can get a similar sort of player to replace him (with a bit less effectivness). Just however is so complete for our level said a few times if the boy could shoot he'd be playing in Europe's top 5 leagues.
-
Maswanhise as a striker will command bigger fee but for me Just is a class above. If he performs well at World cup his value could increase big time
-
Undersoil heating boiler problem apparently.
-
Cheers percy thrower 🤣🤣

I think realistically the squad we have now could fetch fees of around 10M combined with the 5M from Lennon that sets the club up for a very long time. Maswanhise - 4-5M Just - 2-3M Watt - 2-3M Longelo - 1-2M Fadinger - 1-2 M Said - 1M To have 6 assets who could fetch those sorts of fees at one time is outstanding from the recruitment team. I'm resigned to losing Maswanhise in the summer but hopefully we can keep the rest for at least another season or 2.
-
Unless they can go back in time and change the weather, it might be a challenge.
-
Someone needs to do some groundwork on that pitch
-
Glad he's recovered from his injury. I imagine he can get up to speed quicker with their system that he would have been able to do with ours.
-
Eseosa Sule on loan to Partick.

I really hope we keep them for next season. What a great group of players as a team and individually. Been a while since we have had so many talented players in the team at the same time. We had a few years there where we struggled to have even 1 player who could pass or control a ball amd now look at us !!!
-
We are in a very fortunate position where we now have a number players who could easily go for fees in the not too distant future. In years gone past we might have one or two who might go for a big fee, right now I could count 5 or 6 could go for a fee. Maswanhise, Watt, Fadinger Just and Said.
-
No I agree with your point he's done really well this season with the recruitment. The main ones I'd be giving Daws his credit for are Preistman and Longelo who were defenitley recruitment team signing as I highly doubt Jens was watching the Australian League or Cambridge last season. The new ST is also a recruitment team recommendation so we'll see how he turns out but he looked decent on Saturday.
-
That's my point he was getting pelters past few years but is rarely mentioned now...he must be doing something right Plenty of players must be touted by agents but somebody at club needs to do groundwork
-
Both Maswanhise and Watt were offered to the club by their agents. Watt said as much in an interview a few months ago and Halliday said on his podcast Maswanhise had been offered to us by his agent on the Saturday the season started so we arranged a friendly with Everton on the Tuesday in which we lost 6-0 but he impressed and we signed him the next week. To give Daws his due however our recruitment has been very good this season in which he will have played a part so does deserve praise.
-
I feel the same he's a good player but there's parts to his game I look at and wonder how replicable his form will be. If we could get 5-6M for him I think that's probably his ceiling in terms of transfer value.
-
Now there is a phrase i haven't heard in a while!. Is very true though. When we were struggling and some of tge signings dubious it was Nick Daws fault. Now we are having success and he isn't mentioned. I would assume he spotted Maswanhise and Watt but not sure if he is involved with the Australian market
-
Sounds like he thought JT was Irish.

Every club is looking for a goalscorer, so any one that comes into that category and is still only 23 has got to be worth upwards of 10 million. Why should we always seem to sell ourselves short?
