  1. Yesterday
  2. They also played the 'Ugly customer' version of Up the well by Tam Cowan and Matt Johnstone too, and for a spell when it was fanzine day 'One Step beyond' the best motherwell fanzine named after a madness song ever
  3. Perfect signing criteria for us then
  4. Chilvers is an excellent player but badly injured.....fully fit he's top notch
  5. I am still convinced he can be a success, been unlucky with injuries and before that Eddie Munster played in headless chicken role. Play him through middle and give him service
  6. My mate said exact same about chilvers last night
  7. I always check the forums of the teams when we sign players. Carlisle like us, usually, played one up top and Armstrong struggled. But they said he did much better on the times when they played two up. Queue - two goals up front last night as part of a two.
  8. Some people are open to Watt staying - but it's obviously going to be down to Wimmer. My opinion will be completely irrelevant - because he and the club will make the decision. Don't really think it matters that much - always going to be polarised views over players
  9. A big question is will AP stay fit and how many goals will a fit AP score? (That's really 2 questions, but I can't be bothered editing it).
  10. We struggle to score goals, why anyone would think its a good idea to re-sign multiple non scoring strikers from this team is beyond me. Armstrong - given his mobility there is an argunment he could fit into wimmers preffered pressing system. Watt...... the guy has ability but shows it once in 20 games. Theres a reason he has had so many clubs & he's barely made an impression this season with exception of one game. Hopefully Wimmer has re-signed enough to give us stability next year & he clears the decks of the rest of the dross.
  11. Armstrong wants to stay: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/articles/cpw724w7kqxo
  12. Hopefully we have a wee word in Ronan Hale's ear on Sunday to join us if County go down. It wouldn't be terrible if we could get Noah Chilvers from them as well
  13. Which makes me think he's perhaps not on Wimmers "must sign" list.
  14. To be fair he's not had many starts lately has he?
  15. Agree about the need to take a punt on a player. Like you say Higdon and Bair good examples. Add to that the likes of Sutton. FWIW I think Bair had a purple patch, I'm not sold he'd have continued the form but fair play for what he did. For me I just don't see a goal return beyond 1:4 games for Armstrong. He's coming towards 30 years old, been with several clubs around the 2nd division and National League and generally chipped in with a goal every 3-4 games. Pretty similar stats in his limited time here. Can see why people want him to sign, big hard working lad but for me personally I'd pass.
  16. Goals aside, Armstrong's hold up play for Slattery's goal last night was tremendous.
  17. Exactly this. However, at no time in the 2nd half did it look like we were going to lose this one. Total domination, which is not something that Motherwell do very often. When the 1st went in it looked like we'd score every time we went forward and the scoreline was merited in the end. Ultimately, a good end to the home season. Another season in the top tier. Well done to the players and staff. A professional performance is now required against Ross County to put a seal on what has been a difficult season.
  18. I'd like to think so. But not sure re Stam
  19. At the level we operate at re transfers, and given our limited finances those type of players are well outwith our budget. We have seen what can happen when when you take a punt on a player, Higdon, and Bair being two good examples, so why not Armstrong, 4 goals already from limited game time, why he could not get a game for Carlisle is irrelevant. Its what he has done already and potentially could do for Motherwell that's important.
  20. I honestly think Stam is going to come good for us and prove his worth next season. I am predicting 15 plus goals from him next next season and Slattery at least 10 offt it's going to be sensational.
  21. Id be happy to see both Watt and Armstrong at Fir Park next season
  22. I'm not saying we should re-sign them, but the club not wanting a player isn't always a negative. Mika Biereth is one good example - punted by an Arsenal side struggling to find a centre forward
  23. re Armstrong and Watt - personal view is neither should be retained. Watt now older than 30, good creative player who's not a natural striker. I don't see him fitting in our current style of play. Armstrong couldn't get a game for Carlisle - they want rid of him irrespective of struggling themselves to score and subsequently relegated from Division 2. A 29 year old target man who's likely to chip in with less than 10 goals per season (assuming plays all games) We need pace up front or an absolute predator who'll bang in goals , I'd rather we saved the cash. found a younger prospect or a decent loanee.
  24. That was a brilliant save to be fair
