  1. 1. Should The NEWCO Be Allowed Back Into The SPL?

Is that a legit quote? He seriously walked away from a multi-million pound business deal because some punters called him a Yank and told him to go home?

Link up on the Beeb now shows fans with 2 banners:

"TRUCK OFF MILLER - YANKS NO THANKS"

and

"MILLER TIME - NO THANKS TO ASSET STRIPPING YANKS"

But it sounds more likely he was scared off when he finally had access to the accounts.

Aye, from the chat on SSN it sounds like he's taken one look at the books and jumped on the first flight back to the States.

At this rate the SPL chairmen will need to get a whip round and form a consortium to save them.

SPL chairmen are to hold an emergency pants shitting meeting at Hampden park tomorrow according to the latest report on Sky Sport News.

Been much simpler if they had just relegated them already.

Best case scenario is this drags on untill they just can't keep going and collapse. Then have a scramble to start a new club, two or three start up in division 3 and the whole brand just melts away as none can claim to be the 'true rangers'

He never came to Scotland in the first place, the guy doesn't have a passport and has never left America. Fuck knows what interest he had in buying a debt stricken fitbaw team.

UEFA should appoint a panel from different countries who have no axe to grind, look at the whole sorry mess from a purely football perspective and dish out an appropriate punishment. It Iooks more and more like our own national organisations haven't a scooby about what to do that everyone can accept. Leave the tax problems to the taxman, we really need to stop making/changing rules as we go along. Everyone can then get on with their lives as its all getting extremely boring.

To play in any UEFA affiliated league a club needs a Club Licence. When the present RFC dies its licence goes with it. It cannot, by UEFA's and the SFA's own rules, be transferred from old Rangers to any New Rangers. That's why Miller's offer was the best one Rangers fans had to keep their club alive as it is. Therefore any Newco formed by anyone can buy as many assets of the old RFC as it likes - stadium, name, Murray Park - but it won't be eligible for a Club Licence for at least three years. Funnily enough the papers and radio have made no mention of this.

I only heard them talking about it on sportsound on saturday. Apparantly McCoist was due to fly to the states for talks with him.

Quite why a manager should be the person who has to travel 3000miles to talk to a buyer is beyond me. Surely if the guy was ever serious he'd have been in Scotland himself

Heard on the radio there that £12M gets you in the door but they need another £5 to 6M to see them through the close season. Then there's the money they'll need to start paying out when the season starts.

Without the Champions League it looks like whoever goes for it is going to need a minimum of £30M just to start.

Starting to think that the SPL and Clubs all know that the buns are fecked and keep delaying any votes so that they dont have to show their cards in public, knowing how bad the backlash from fans will be!

Basically, we are all just waiting on them being liquidated and nature taking it's course and in the history books it will go down as a Third Lanark/Lehman Brothers type event......it could never happen etc....

And then they'll buy Ross County (you heard it here first).

A question for everyone here. If Rangers cease to play in the SPL next season would our crowds and those of other SPL clubs increase? By my reckoning Rangers bring about 8,000 fans to FP every season. Now say they pay a mix of £23 and £15 - average £20. By my reckoning that brings in £160,000. Off that we have to deduct VAT and we'd be left with about £124,000. Fans of a replacement club would also bring revenue. OK they buy snacks and drinks etc but we have to pay police and stewarding bills. A very crude calculation but its not a fortune is it? Would we make that up in increased home gate receipts?

Whatever the economics, I don't think gate receipts are the issue.

gate reciepts have never been the issue, the real problem is the question of whether the tv deals are dependant on them or not.

Celtic are currently in advanced stages of talks with UEFA & English FA about a move to League 1/Championship, not bottom of the structure as should be the case. Hence their ominous silence throughout the Rangers debacle. They are planning to jump ship ASAP.

Now your just teasing!

Imagine a competitive SPL without either half of the scum or the hatred and atmosphere they bring with them!

People would say we couldn't survive but all clubs just have to accept that they will ALL be operating at a new lower level but at least it would be a level playing field for every club. Please make it come true......

So now we have Butcher saying that Caley cant survive without the buns! Does anyone else feel we are being spoonfed snippets from each club to prepare us all for the fact that regardless of what crimes have been commited, or financial mismanagement or cheating (allegedly) or whether they use a newco or CVA or anything else....The mighty buns will be in the SPL next season wih the backing of the SFA, SPL, every Club and anyone else considered important enough to have an opinion!

Thing that gets me about El Tel's comments is that ICT have recently suffered relegation and managed to survive without the TV and Rangers dough. They even went on that spectacular away run which lasted well into their 1st season back in the SPL.

Another bit of proof that we do not need Rangers in the SPL to survive.

Of course, their counter argument will be the Rangers dough gave them sufficient funds to survive relegation.

Or replace caley with any number of teams in the First Division who manage to run a business without the buns money and still survive (Obviously not including Dundee or Livi in that!). Although they are both examples of what happens when you try to rise above what should be a level playing field.....
