  2. The only time I have ever seen us win a Cup, we won 7 of our last 9 league games (including a 2 -1 win at Celtic Park and scudding Rangers 3 - 0 at Fir Park). It's fair to say, that for me, that seems a healthier way to approach it.

  3. Not really worth a topic of it's own, so I'll mention it here. Dougie Imrie's penalty miss - pleasing.

  4. If he's putting up with the sectarian bigoted nonsense for purely financial reasons, that makes it worse. I can't imagine he's struggling to make ends meet these days.

  5. If you are a regular on this forum then I am surprised you are surprised by some of the comments. It is a regular feature for some posters. We could win 30 games in a row and lose game 31 and it would be the end of the world and Robinson must go. Just the way it works. There is very little perspective imho when it comes to some defeats. That said not just one player had an off day today. Virtually the whole team did. Dunne has improved no end as the season progressed but today was as bad as he has been this season. Same applies to McHugh. Even Main and Carson were not really at it today. It was just a strange game. We defended as badly as we could have. Let us hope we can restore some pride come Tuesday evening especially as I will head along. All that said part of me wants Hamilton to come to Fir Park at the weekend with something at stake for them and for that to happen Thistle probably need to win. Another part of me wants Hamilton safe come the weekend so they don’t injure any of our players in a all out battle. Hopefully today serves as a wake up call ahead of the final 2 league games.

  6. Today was a bad result with poor team and individual performances but the comments by some on this forum leave me shaking my head. I'm not a 'happy clapper' and can be critical of lack of effort but any player can have an off-day. I'm a fan for over 50 years who can put into perspective our wins and defeats, particularly this season with the rebuilt squad. We have reached 2 cup finals and going to finish 7th/8th. Yes a 5-1 home defeat hurts but some of my fellow 'Well fans need to relax and enjoy the claret and amber rollercoaster ride. We could be fighting relegation but have the 19th May to look forward to, with or without a few dozen folk who are undecided whether to buy a ticket or not. I find it hard to believe that today's defeat would lose us hundreds of cup ticket sales, I don't know of anyone who has suggested that their decision to go to Hampden or not will be dependent on the last few league results. Just remember the effort, desire and heart that this completely new squad have shown in the cup games this season and give them our 100% backing. Stephen Robinson has been in charge for 12 cup games with only 1 defeat. COYW.

  7. Maybe I am biased, but there cannot be a Manager in U.K. that is more honest in his post match assessments than SR, he did not want to make any excuse of players missing or carrying knocks, but simple defensive errors that beat us, roll on Tuesday to see our reaction.

  9. That was awful, worryingly bad. That bad that not one player got pass marks...a few should take a long hard look at themselves. Ciftci has again contributed fuck all...the midfield was non-existant and the defence looked disorganised and completely inept, with young Maguire looking out his depth. Missing Kipre and Tait shouldnt be the end of the world and I can only put the poor result and performance down to a bad mindset to be honest, it looked like a team that had downed tools for the season. Pure shite of the highest order, Ive seldom seen sucha poor performance.

  10. Only difference is in the play off we were playing against a team that were struggling in the Championship. In the cup final we are playing a team on the cusp of a historic double treble. The gulf in opposition is huge. I'd also argue that the play off team actually had much better players in it. There's no doubt we'd have a better chance of winning if we went into the game in high confidence with some quality performances behind us.

  11. It's a one off cup game, league form is irrelevant, we were utter garbage before the playoff final against Rangers and turned up and pumped them, a repeat of that on the 19th will do for me. The records will show who won the cup , not how each team played in the previous league games, but no doubt you will be curbing your celebrations when we win because we were shit in our last 3 league games, I know I won't be

  12. All we have heard for the last couple of weeks is how the intensity is as high as ever in training, with Robinson also saying he's had too hold the players back at times and then we go and approach this game like it's a pre season friendly, absolutely shocking stuff two weeks away from a cup final.

  13. Anyone who thinks this won't have an impact on the team going into the final is kidding themselves. And a lot of fans who aren't sure about going in a fortnight well....this will help make their minds up.

  16. Not sure about purely financial reasons, but I bet it beats doing it for nothing.

  17. Going into the semi I couldn't really get up for it as I knew we'd be playing obe of the OF in the final. Turns out now though that I'm not fazed by the final at all and there's definitely air of quiet confidence about. I certainly have a feeling we could just pull this off. All the pressure is on Celtic. In many ways the build up feels similar to the play-offs.

  18. Pretty sure that's Robinson's take on it as well. He said after the semi he needed players to be going in who are match sharp and that a even a couple of weeks off can make a huge difference. It's gamble either way, but I'd keeping players match sharp is a risk worth taking. As an aside, he also mentioned the 2011 final at the weekend there - said part of the problem was that we went into that on a bad run of results with our heads down. Absolutely spot on. I still think McCall deserves a heroes welcome any time he comes to Fir Park however Robinsons approach to cup competitions shows a far clearer understanding of what makes our club and it's fans tick.
