  1. I'll never quite understand what purpose it serves to heap further unnecessary angst on ourselves because another team happened to achieve a different result in circumstances that weren't exactly identical to those we experienced. Yeah Dundee had 10 men but they were winning and were at home, two not insignificant and different factors to our own experience against Rangers. And if we go down that road we should surely be hailing our team for earning a draw against Celtic when the mighty Killie suffered a 5-1 pumping no? I won't hold my breath.

  2. Goodbye Andy Rose. It seems to me you lived your life Like a candle in the wind (or something)

  3. All the best to him, good solid player who got way to much abuse on here.

  4. Often did the dirty work in our better performances and never given enough credit in my view, we often looked better with him in the team than out of it last season. Good luck to the guy and thanks for the effort you always put in.

  5. Apologies Andy, my comment was partly tongue in cheek and before the news about Andy Rose was confirmed. At every turn we broadcast the message that we're totally skint (unlike our close rivals). I accept that might be deliberate to dampen dreams of healthy warchests from other clubs. My thinking was that if we were totally skint and no-one was shipped out next month ie the worst case scenario, then if Jake Hastie were to return we couldn't even afford his wages (currently being paid by Alloa presumably). That won't now happen as Andy Rose is leaving next month, although its unclear if any fee, however nominal, will be involved. At the very least a wage will be freed up. I'm ambivalent about him going, although I'd rather we lost a few others first. We are reasonably well off for central midfielders and need to strengthen in other areas first. Centre Back; left sided wide midfielder; creative midfielder and striker. Still now that we know for certain Rose is departing it will free up some cash - maybe to allow us to bring Hastie back .

  6. Sorry mate, didn't mean to quote you, just meant to add the comment....senior moment. Was a comment earlier in the thread alluding to about how bad we must be to get humped 7-1 by Rangers when they can't beat Dundee Sent from my SM-A320FL using Tapatalk

  7. Because, no matter how you look at it, Dundee were winning when they went down to 10 men.

  8. It’s a bit of a stretch to say Dundee were winning when Rangers equalised from the free kick that their player was sent off for conceding.

  10. Again, an agent who is simply in it to make himself as much money as possible, and who doesn't care about his clients won't be in the game for long. There are agents who are in it to make both themselves and their clients as much money as possible though, and those agents are a perfect fit for a player who doesn't care where he is as long as he's racking up coin. 23 in the footballing world is realistically around 12 years from retirement, so in real-world terms a footballer at 23 should have the equivalent ambition of someone in a regular job when they're 53 years old. At that age you're already thinking about a life after work, and you need money for that. Exactly. It comes down to how much the player is willing to gamble really. For example, Turnbull could sign a new deal, make okay money for a few years and perform really well before winning a big move down south with triple his wages on offer or even more. But, he could just as easily sign that new deal, not hit the heights he hopes (or get injured) and end up seeing out his deal before moving to part-time football further down the leagues. Or, he could get that big offer while his stock is high, make the move and guarantee the cash for a few years. Then he either makes it into the team down south, earns a bigger and better deal and progresses from there, or he doesn't make the cut, and eventually returns back to the SPFL to probably get the deal from somewhere that Motherwell were offering in the first place, except he has those triple wage packets from the past few years in his pocket as well. Personally, even as a Motherwell fan I'd take the deal from down south if it was a substantial pay raise. I have no doubt that, fan or not, if I didn't do well at the club they'd have no qualms about letting me go, so why should I treat it as anything other than a professional relationship? When I'm 40 and retired with cash in the bank I'll come back and support the club as a fan.
