  1. I would second that, excellent interview that maybe showed Robinson has not always been given enough credit. I think he has actually managed the young players really well.

  3. I am also a Bigi fan and thought we wasted him with our style of hoofball - he played some of his best games when we tried to keep it in on the deck. Ironic that we punt him a couple of weeks after we make the conscious decision to start playing more football, but with Gorrin, Hastie, Turbull, Gboly, Frear, McCormack and Bigi all competing for starting spots they weren't all going to be happy. All this "luxury player" patter is nonsense. It's just about getting the balance right. We'd have been in poor shape if we had dropped Davie Cooper because he never tackled anyone or tracked back.

  4. When you play shite all season and get papped out the Cup at first time of asking its no surprise the wage bill needs cut.

  6. I’m afraid Robinson can’t win with one or two whatever he does.

  7. He has always stated he would not rush young players and doing so could damage their development, he is still saying the same thing. Turnbull was brought in at the right time, Hastie sent out to gain experience before being given his chance. He has done the same with Maguire. He could have rushed Scott but again is making sure the timing is right, same with Livingstone. You state last throw of the dice, I would say good management and not bowing to pressure from the likes of yourself months ago. The only “young boys “he brought in was Hastie by the way, Campbell has always been given a chance by Robinson and he understands like any young player he will have his ups and downs. He also brought Gorrin back in who you have stated in the past was yet another rubbish Robinson signing because you were so desperate to see him play any young player while dismissing anyone he signed.

  9. Yeah but Cooper was great. Bigirimana wasn't the worst player in the squad but he wasn't really good at anything. Not a defensive midfielder, not a creator, not a goalscorer. My hope is that Turnbull has shown up a lot of the players in that squad for what they are and the manager has recognised that. The players that started this season weren't and aren't good enough and they need to be cleared out. Rose gone, Bowman gone, Bigirimana gone, Taylor Sinclair gone, there's more need cleared out but we are headed in the right direction.

  10. We actually have a chance to change the complexion of the season somewhat in the next few games. Form would suggest that we will again slip into more defeats but I'm hopeful we can try to turn a corner; the next few games are very much winnable. If we can get victories in our next two games against Livi and St Mirren we could be sitting in 7th place with a genuine outside chance of top 6. Hibs are in internal turmoil at the moment and have two tricky fixtures against Aberdeen then Celtic so it is not inconceivable that they could end up with zero points from their next two fixtures. I'm well aware that this is a glass half full approach but we might as well be hopeful given otherwise we pretty much have zero to play for over the next 3 months. In terms of the team, I think it would be madness to change anything. We need to try to get more consistency to our selection. For me, we need more of the same from the Hibs game, get the two wingers on the ball and run at people. Hopefully Main can add some goals to his workrate, goals are probably my biggest concern at the moment. I am hopeful McCormack will be in better shape this week and be able to be a bigger influence from the bench. It will be interesting to see what happens when he does start to get up to speed. Our system just now seems to be working pretty decent but I'm not sure he would be suited to the lone striker role and I don't think the wing really suits him at this point of his career either. I see him in more of a second striker position these days IMO. Anyway, like I said I am hopeful. Livi haven't been on a great run but you just never know.

  11. You think we tried to play football on the deck at Livi?

  13. Always a gamble for a player moving to a club with no manager. Needs to hope he fits into the new gaffer's plans. Didn't see it coming, but with our recent signings, youngsters and Gorrin hitting some form, can see it makes sense.

  14. Bigi was never going to shine in a team that had to "earn the right to play football". Thought he was dynamite tbh.

  16. Erwin is a classic example of the kid who broke into the first team and didn't allow himself time to develop before a move. Short term cash and long term career in the shitter.

  17. Some of these posts just baffle me. We have one of the lowest budgets in the league so where do we need to finish in the league for a manager not to get sacked ? I get the football is poor but he’s stated he’s trying to change it. Individuals stated they wanted the young players in, he’s sent them out to get game time and that’s now happening, Maguire will be next. We are never going to be able to bring in the same quality of players that just about half the teams in this league can, we have to bring in lower league players who are a risk along with our youngsters. Have we gone backwards from last season ? After 23 games last season we were 6th but with only one point more so hardly. We are safe and could even finish higher yet people still want him out in the hope we are going to find someone else who will have us playing silky football on peanut money.

  18. Funnily enough I did mention it at the time. I said the club should have been sold to the society immediately but I was told this wasn't possible by Dempster. What then happened was the Society bought an absolutely worthless 5% of the club for £250,000. Then Boyle started threatening to sell us to South Americans despite having given up his shares ie Dempster and the other trustees would do it. After that the rest of the majority shareholding was sold for £1 (which Dempster said was impossible) to Hutchinson who then started wasting money and almost got us relegated. Now we are paying off a huge bill for the pleasure of having Baraclough, Straker, George Long, Wes Fletcher and other diddies plus paying for scouting systems and a club restructure which lasted about five minutes.
