Is there a place for a thread for the wee Motherwell bits and bobs you come across and maybe aren't worthy of a thread of their own? Time will tell I suppose. I'll start us of with a snippet from a feature on Andy Robertson on the BBC where John Rankin, one of his former team-mates mentions us in a fairly complimentary light. I thought his perception of us as a team and Fir Park as a venue was quite interesting.2 points

Formation isn't in itself the problem. Best Motherwell team I've ever seen was a 352 team. It's a case of finding the formation that best suits the players at your disposal...2 points

Re. Motherwell for some reason i've got a feeling we're going to have a really positive season next year, not really sure what i'm basing that on but there you go. I'm moving back home after 5 years away so will be the first time in ages that i'm able to get a season ticket and regularly attend games. To say i'm buzzing for it is an understatement- maybe that's where my baseless optimism comes from.2 points

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-JLuEk5TVZ4 I seen a notification on facebook earlier that it was 4 years ago tonight we done this. What a game, and one of my favourite games ever so had to watch the highlights. There is a lot of Well games kicking about on Youtube thankfully but got me thinking about Well games I would like to see again but hard to find them and havent seen them in years. Some of my personal favourites I havent seen for a while The 2-1 game against Celtic at Fir Park when Shaun Fagan and James McFadden scored. Was buzzing that night and recently looked to find it, Faddy was outstanding that night. The 1-0 game against Rangers on Boxing Day the same year, I had it on VHS at one point. You can get the McFadden goal somewhere on youtube but would love to see the whole game. Also remember the 2-0 game against Rangers under Billy Davies, the Twaddle goal is somwhere online but thats about it. Know there are quite a few others I have forgot about it and will remember soon. Does anyone have any other personal favourites they would like to see again and hopefully someone somewhere will upload them at some point.1 point

Thought I'd post this in here, Connor Sammon released by Hearts... hope we don't see that name in the 2019/20 rebuild thread..1 point

I would rather poke my eyes out than watch us playing 3-5-2. Has everyone forgotten how pish we were for about 6 months and in relegation bother getting gubbed at home to Accies and St. Mirren with this awfull formation. NEVER PLAY 3-5-2. It was only when Robinson changed the system brought us results and safety.1 point

I can kind of understand the Killie inclusions, Greg Taylor will be back up to Robertson, O'Donnell will play right back, Brophy we don't really much option on, severe lack of strikers. Stuart Findlay I can't comment on however they all know exactly how he wants to play which will work in our favour. it's the other inclusions I don't get, Mikey Devlin, Lewis Morgan.1 point

Really? We got hounded by Kazakhstan and looked awful beating Sannie Marino. Nobody should be scared of playing us at the moment.1 point

Let's look at the facts. Robinson took over from McGhee at the end of February 2017 with us sitting 10th in the league, 3 points above Accies in last place. We'd just been scudded 5-1 at home to Dundee, the latest in a run of 4 defeats on the bounce, which also included a 7-2 tanking off Aberdeen. We'd won two of our last thirteen league games. We eventually finished 9th, went out to Rangers in the 4th round of the Scottish Cup, and lost 5-0 to Celtic in the last 16 of the League Cup. In his first full season he brought in notable signings in Craig Tanner, Trevor Carson, Charles Dunne, Cedric Kipre, Liam Grimshaw, Curtis Main and Peter Hartley along with Tom Aldred on loan. We saw Allan Campbell really step up his game, and we saw Robinson hand debuts to Davie Turnbull, Liam Brown, Barry McGuire, and James Scott. Notable "duds" include Alex Fisher, Russell Griffiths, George Newell, Ellis Plummer, Deimantas Petravicius, and Stephen Hendrie on loan. We finished 7th in the league, lost 2-0 to Celtic in the Scottish Cup final, and lost by the same score to the same team in the League Cup final. That summer we sold Kipre for a reported £1 million, a player signed under Robinson on a free the previous summer. Notable signings include Mark Gillespie, Alex-Rodriguez Gorrin, as well as both Tom Aldred and Gboly Ariyibi on loan. We also saw the emergence of Jake Hastie, and Davie Turnbull really came into his own. "Duds" that year include Taylor-Sinclair, and Sammon and McCormack on loan. In his second season we finished 8th in the league, lost to Ross County in the 4th round of the Scottish Cup, and Hearts in the quarter final of the League Cup. Personally, I think he's accomplished all we really could be expecting of our manager. Pushing for top six, finishing 10th or above (which is what we budget for), his cup record is pretty decent, he's brought in one player who's netted us a million quid so far, and he's brought the youth into the side fairly consistently. Would it be nice to win a cup or finish in the top six? Aye. Should we judge a manager a failure if he doesn't accomplish either of those? I don't think that's realistic.1 point

I do love diagonal sash shirts, however, in my opinion they work better with winged collars rather than the crewneck style shown. The one we had recently was a one off home kit that payed homage to our mid 70s side and I very much doubt we will be doing that again soon on our home top. I would tend to reserve it for away shirts and leave our home as traditional as possible. Anyway, here is a very quick diagonal sash render on the Alhena shirt.1 point

I was calling him out for being snarky towards me for no reason by using the benefit of hindsight without even take into consideration the context of my actual comment - ie, we should play a couple of younger fringe players. The fact that I forgot Queen of the South were in the play off final and Maguire wasn't available or that we were 3-0 up wasn't really central to the point I was making. I deliberately retorted in a similarly shitty and annoying manner, completely aware I was doing so, ie, as had been done to me. If you need anything else explained to you that's not literal or surface level let me know. But the truth is I actually don't mind Wee Yin as he doesn't seem to hold a grudge or belong to some clique of midgets who are all angry at me for discrediting them so many times. Long ball bad - correct. Robinson's midfield acquisitions shite - correct. Kipre's second contract - correct. Play technically superior youth players - correct. Won't win with McHugh - correct. I think that pretty much covers all my major arguments over the last year or so. It's that sort of intelligent prescience that enabled me to win the Pie & Bovril prediction league. **kisses** see you August.0 points
